So what's the best car under $40,000CDN, the categories are Sports Cars and Sedans/Sport Sedans.
👍 👍

Now Suggest!!!

Definantely the WRX or the EVO. More performance oriented than the G35, and more reliable than the 350z.

WRX STi's MSRP is 47k CDN, it doesn't fit in the category. Neither does the 350Z (45k), nor the G35(45k to 51k). Base CTS is 41k, CTS-V is 70k (ouch), Honda S2000 at 49k. No EVO or GTO to play with up here, and they don't fit the price bracket, anyway.

40k CDN is 32k USD at the moment, and that doesn't get you a whole bunch of interesting new stuff... Best bet would be to go for something used, like an early S2000, or a Camaro Z28, or even an early NSX, or a C4 Vette.

Evo's are out of the question because they aren't even street legal in Canada, nevermind cost.

Like mentioned, a used S2000 is in that range, also a used S4. Check around, there are a few cars around for that price (used, of course).

Hyundai Coupe for $32,318.37CAD I think. 2.0L SE 3dr.

[EDIT] This is better-Hyundai Tuscani 2.7L V6.
$28,795. This is from teh Canadien site but I'm not sure whether it is Amrican Dollar or Canadien. Either way it is under £40,000CAD.

This thread could help me. I love my Fiero, but I think a new car is in order.

What does a Hyundai Tiburon go for?

I mean the best model, with all options, and of course the fastest. Like maximum package.

Thanks guys!

A Tiburon with the V6 will be way under 40k CAD, but you can get much, much better performance cars for under 40k.

Dodge SRT-4 - base price well under $30,000
Subaru WRX (non-STi version) - $35,000 base price
Mazda RX-8 - high $30,000 base price
Mazda Miata - Base price under $30,000
Mini Cooper S Works Edition - About $40,000 (A regular S goes for a little over $30,000 base price)
Ford Mustang GT (2005 Model Year) - Low $30,000 base price
Acura RSX Type R - $33,000 base price

Absolutely no shortage of good performance cars for under $40,000 CAD bought new. And most of these cars listed have plenty of room for options before hitting the $40,000 mark.

I dunno, since I'm devoted to roatries, I'd say the RX-8, very great handling and just an all around fun car to drive. Are you only talking about new cars? A used RX-7 would also be awesome.

used '01 z06 can be bought for about 30k here in the states, so thats about equivalent to cdn.

a brand new '03-'04 cobra can be bought for about 30k or even less, yes its true.
they have lots they need to sell and lots of people are selling theres for even lower-low mileage.
new stangs are gonna fill the lots soon...

You could get the best handling front wheel driving Sedan in the world, the Acura TSX. Had an accident on my TL, and got a TSX as a rental, simply amazing handling, just as good as the RSX's, if not better. And living in canada, i think your best option would be to have a Front Wheel or All-Wheel drive vehicle, so look at the either WRX for about $35000 or TSX for $34000, plus freight and taxes.

Considering that gas is $1 a litre, V8's and higher are out of the question.
What about rotaries? :dopey:

You could probably find some good used Bimmers for under $40K CDN. Maybe the letter 'M' is involved? ;)

I agree. A stock SRT-4 goes for around 27,000-28,000 (CDN) MSRP. And with the amount of factory upgrades for the car, you can't get a bigger bang for your buck. SRT-4 w/ a Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade makes over 300hp for just over 30,000 CDN. And with a 2.4L engine, fuel isn't going to be a big issue either. The hard part is finding a dealership that has one in stock.

What?!

The base G35 sedan is $39,600.

The base G35 sedan in the US is $28000, which makes the $32000 USD cut; I think that's what he was referring to.

New, it's the 2004 Saturn Vue V6 overall. And you can't tell me that **** isn't a sports car, because it's quicker than whatever you drive (yes, even you, PunkRock, assuming you shift at around 6000). Truthfully, for $32000, I'd look really hard at the Honda Accord EX V6, Nissan Altima 3.5SE, and Mitsubishi Galant GTS, all with every option.

I test drove an '04 STi yesterday, I'd recommend that but it's a little out of that range in Canadian dollars. It was an absolutely awesome car and I should tell you I don't think you can go wrong with a WRX. You get what you pay for they are great cars.

I drove the Mini Cooper S with the Works package..was quoted $52000 canadian....not even close
