What are the best ones out there for £30, I'll be using them for listening to music and studio recording. Please comment with your suggestions.

I've got a pair of Sennheiser HD-202's and I've got no real complaints, somewhat uncomfortable but maybe that's just me. Sound quality is good and they're pretty durable.

Funnily enough I had looked at them but the Bass that people were describing made me think twice, can you comment on it?

I'm not an expert but the bass seems fine to me. It might be slightly heavy, but for £25 I can look past that.

I've just watched a couple of reviews on Youtube and all is positive, so I'll head to Argos tomorrow and buy a pair.

Sony is also a good brand in terms of build quality. Still have a pair of Sony headphones from 2004. :D

I have a Sennheiser headset which is just the HD 205s with a mic attached (The headphone version was a good £20 cheaper, I should have got that and then a seperate mic in hindsight), and the sound quality is excellent.

They do feel slightly uncomfortable for a while, but you do get used to them. The trick is not to rest them on your ears, they're designed to cover your ears, they should be resting on the area around your ears (Which I wasn't doing at first, hence why they were uncomfortable).

I highly recommend them, and they're only just over your budget:

I would say the ear cups on the 202s are too small, which probably makes them a lot less comfortable to wear, in my opinion. I'm not 100% sure how the sound quality compares between the two. The normal price gap is around £20 so i'm guessing the 205s are a little better.

EDIT: Well, at least they would be a good choice if it didn't say 'Usually dispatched within 3 to 6 months'

Sony are good but I find your ears get a bit warm...

Sennheiser generally have more cabling as well, longer distances a plus for me.

Longer distance is a double edged sword. It encourages you to leave your headphones on when going to switch on your light, or get something from one of your shelves. I got my wire (must be 2 metres I think) caught on something as I was going to turn the light on, and it almost pulled my TV off the desk which it was plugged into. The TV was fine, but the jack is now bent. It still works though  sometimes I have to wiggle it around when I first plug it into a device.

Purchased the HD202's today, simply awesome.
