It's CLOSED!!!???

Living in Illinois, I didn't get much of the chance to get online when the snowstorm hit us Friday. so, yeah, bummer. Glad someone did vote for the only V-8 powered Hot hatch in the list. ^^

Although having said that, my dads 323F V6 has run for 16 years and hasn't put a foot wrong.

Ahhh... the good old 1.8 V6... don't torture me with envy! I'm pretty sure my third-gen's chassis is much better, but the 2.0 I4 under the hood is a damn piece of crap.

how is a GTI better than an R32?
Because it's a hell fo a lot lighter, the last R32 had the same power to weight ratio as the MKI Golf GTi. The R32 is quick in a straight line but it's a very flawed car, it lacks the handling levels of the GTi and it's a lot more expensive to own.

On the topic of Renault build quality my mate had nothing but trouble with his 172. Bits of trim falling off and the clutch needing to be replaced being the main ones. He did do nearly 50k in 2 years in it though.

He must have been driving that thing non stop . 25k miles a year is a lot. We don't do 10k in both the cars combined.

Well, f those are all the miles you put on your cars over in England, I'm going there to buy used cars from now on! Many people over here put about 20,000 miles on a car in a year, which I think is ridiculous.

Englands not exactley a huge country, I could drive to London and back once a week and still not do as many miles as that guy in his Clio. 25k miles a year is 480 miles a week :ouch:. England isn't even 480 miles long from top to bottom. It's about 340 miles from Newcastle to Portsmouth.

Wanna race? On a circuit--the only way to settle which one is better.

Took some searching, but here's proof of the Vega's hatchback status, and it was equal in size to the Gremlin, but had more of a rally/road racing bent to its image than the Gremlin X.

In fact, when you look good and hard at it, the Cossie Vega was Chevrolet's answer to the 2.8L Capri II.

Chevy's answer to the Capri? - so it's a small coupe then not a hatchback. Like the Ford Puma, VW Corrado, Renault Megane Coupe, Vauxhall/Opel Tigra or even Audi TT. All have a chassis based on a real hatchback and have 'hatches' in the 'back' but are not 'hatchbacks'.

For less money, so it's a better value for money car than a respective Golf. That imo makes it a more sound choice than the Golf, however neither the SEAT or the VW got my vote.

While the SEAT is a great car for great money, it is after all a Golf.

Golf chassis, but with a more powerful engine, and more aggressive suspension setup whilst being cheaper.

Leon Cupra shouldve won, but Its obvious to see why it only got one vote, seat is seriously underrated and too often overlooked. But then again I think in about two decades it will be completely opposite, unless VW offload it for some reason.

No it shouldn't, should have got more votes than the Golf, but it shouldn't have won. At least not in anyones opinion but yours.

It is your opinion, that in my opinion no one else thinks the leon cupra r should have won.

Im gonna create this same poll on another website with a more mature demographic and post the results. Im sure the Leon will get plenty of votes. Cant argue with people that have actually experienced some of these cars themselves :D

The clio will probably win, but Id put that down to it being a performance car enthusiasts website and the fact that alot more people will have driven sporting clios than any seat.

Eh? If you mean it's my opinion that no one else agrees with you, the sole vote for the Leon that was yours kind of backs that up.

A hot hatch is a performance car :odd:, you do not buy a hot hatch for economy, cheap parts or the weekly shop. You buy one to enjoy while you drive, the Clio is the best at that. The SEAT Leon Cupra is faster than the Golf GTi but it's almost as expensive, it's only better than the GTi in that it is actually cheaper, but it is still vastly over priced at just under £20k. It doesn't do the whole hot hatch thing as good as the Focus RS or the Clio Renaultsport 182. It's not as much of a drivers car, nor will it offer the same levels of performance.

Or perhaps we just acknowledge that the Clio is widely regarded as the finest Hot Hatch ever - a sentiment in agreement with most performance car magazines.

The clio isnt the best hot hatch ever. I can quote several owners who preffered their older hothatches. They belived the magazines words, thought they were upgrading by buying the clio, but then were in for a shock disapointment. And a car can be the dogs danglies, but what goods that if it spends half the time at the renault garage getting things fixed?
