Which version shall i look out for to buy? Is it worth modding it fully?

Also whats the best car to use for the japan 1980s race dont want to waste more money than i have to?

The R34 skyline is the most powerful fully tuned, and probably the fastest.
However the R33 and R32 are nearly just as good and I would say the R32 has the best handling.

The non-premium 300ZX (around 1989) with 276bhp will be a sure fire win in that event.

Cheers mate,i was thinking that some may have some crazy handling, depends how good or bad the handling or the R34 is though?

The R34 handling is probably second best to the R32 (in terms of handling), so it's probably worth the higher buying cost 👍

I tend to lean towards the R32 vs. the others, because it's lighter. I'm a sucker for lightweight cars though, so take that as you will.

I went with r32 as well because it was the lightest.

As for the 80's Japanese race i used an AE86. Lightly tuned to 150hp and 880kg was enough for me to win.

seems like preference, may i ask whats the difference between a lighter car and heavier, say

A heavier car with higher BHP and a Lighter one with Lower, Just the handling or speed as well?

R32 is my favorite skyline, after its just r34 slightly behind. R32 is lightest, its also the skyline icon, it won so many champs back in its days. I dislike R35 and i think its ugly. R32, R33, R34 = skyline

GTR = tank with ugly aerodynamics

It depends...

A light car with less power will generally outhandle a heavier and more powerful vehicle... However, if the handling disadvantage is small enough or nonexistent the more powerful car will win on faster even if power:weight ratios are identical; aero drag is a bigger problem at speed than weight.

Or as mentioned previously-anything light with decent power will win.
Something like a Honda Ballade thing with like 120 bhp standard tuned a little could win easily.

I purchased the R34 V spec Nur from the dealership , maxed it out to around 773 hp and since then no car can keep up with me , i fly past enzo ferraris in expert mode like nothing i also fly past those fast race cars in the pic below like nothing , i was simply amazed , i go from 0mph - 225 mph in under 44 secs

I tuned the suspension , everything in drivetrain and the transmission !

REMOVE THOSE WHEELS! Looks awesome though otherwise 👍

Any chance of sharing what tuning and parts you bought? might give it a go, i LOVE cars that look like that

Hows the handling?
Braking from top speed?
Accelerating out of corners? eg spin out, need to be careful or full grip straight away?

nice r34! about how much did it cost in total to max it out and buy it?

I did something similar, just with an old miata. Really fun car, and pretty fast. I just don't think its exactly worth the 200 grand(or more) I spent on it.

In the context of racing AI, an R32,R33,R34 will all be fine. (fully tuned)
If you want to have a better chance of winning online races (not including drag races on SSR7) then the R34 is probably worth it.

Its true the R34 is unbeatable, Besides say the 787B and all those super Lemans types.
I have about the same HP as you with the R34,
and the best thing is, You don't even need to replace the gearbox, The std box I max out Over 320Km/h so its perfect ratios as well. At the moment with the Customizable gearbox not being customizable, meaning you can't adjust the ratios at all. all it does is spread them out more completely ruining the power band of any car except big V8's - V12's without turbos. It is the best, I would maybe make the gears a little closer together, and a lower diff ratio, but its better then having to deal with the poor setup of the 20 grand gearbox that's worthless.

Make sure you buy one of the premium models so you can really tune it out! I have them all R32, R33 and R34.... And imo the R32 is the most fun to drive and the R34 running 797 HP at the moment is just scary... :P got it up to 360 KPH on SSR7 and it rockets over the ring like a mad man... 👍

premium?

Yes Premium. You have Standard and Premium cars in GT5.... Premium cars have cockpits and are modelled exactly the same, while standards are ported over from the old GT games... Premium models are available in the dealerships and standard models in the used car dealership.

ah I knew that thought you meant something else, arent all R34s premium?

R33 GTR LM Road Version.

Sure its a standard, but it's pretty decent - outside the rear brake lights. I dont think it's a direct port, more like "We didn't finish the model". Cant think of where that model came from, dont think it was in GT4, wasn't in GT3, only one I know for sure is GT2.

But, it's sexier than any other Skyline. Widebody, low rear spoiler, R33. And it's RWD. Probably the worst on paper, but it oozes the cool factor IMHO - which cannot be tuned.

Okay, maybe I'm trying to justify buying a $500000 RWD R33. lol

So far i have all the premium skylines, the premium 370Z, the Amuse Super Leggra, and a Nismo Z-Tune 350Z.

Out of all cars i find the 370Z to be the most comfy the drive, and its damn damn fast when fully tuned.

Out of the skylines the R32 is the best to drive imho.

I bought a used one for 28k, must say was very very nice, not what i expected at all, thought itd be a out of control machine, very very good handling though,

Heres a question, if i increase downforce what am I losing with the car, top speed?
Is it better to put a rear wing on and put downforce to 20?

They all have good performance once tuned and will be plenty to beat the races in the game, so just go with whichever car looks good to you.

Some of us like racing against new cars in an older car, hence why R32 is the best. Some just want the newest technology, so GTR or R34.

The great thing about Skylines and now the GTR , is that you can tune each variation to your preference. Whether it's drag racing, track work, or even drifting, there is a Skyline that will do the job. :)
