The best reason we need in race saves is for people like me. I am currently deployed to undisclosed location in Iraq and I do not have as much time to do more than the 9hr tshuba race, which took me 6 days to complete. if the power were to go out on me i would have to start over. that would be very frustrating.

To sit in place for extended periods of time is extremely hazardous to your health. And it would be a really bad idea to just sit there for hours and hours on end. even the ps3 manuals state you shouldn't do that or you will run health risks. We need the race save feature so we can be able to get up and do other things instead of sit in place and wait until our blood clots or something. Some people have lives to attend to and either way it's just a bad idea in general. Another reason is not even people who ACTUALLY DO 24 hour don't ever actually race for 24 hours. So it's actually more difficult than it should be in some ways to do it on the game.

+1 to both. Thanks for your service m8!

On the civilian end of that, thunderstorm season is fast approaching here in the states, and I doubt that many of the GT5 users are as astute with weather forecasting as they'd need to be to have a good opportunity to finish one of these events.

That said. If anyone needs forecasting help... just let me know! :dopey:

I'm echoing EE's comment - Thanks for your service. From what I understand gt4 had in race saves right? Why the heck does gt5 not have them? lol

I could see if the races were difficult, then MAYBE it would make some sense to not allow you to save it and restart it. But the same people that would do that would simply just use a tuned up car and win easily. Just doesn't make any sense to me, especially since it wouldn't be difficult to have the save feature not allow you to restart the race over and over again in case you screwed up.

Which is why the folks at DP are completely retarded. At least someone there is, anyway. Anybody that had an opportunity to say, "Hey, that's retarded" but didn't is retarded, without a doubt.

Real-life endurance races take place without saves, but 1) this is a game, not real life, and 2) real-life drivers never, ever do very long runs by themselves. Endurance races always have drivers switch so no single driver does the entire thing, and they normally only do a handful of hours apiece in a single sitting. To expect a player to sit there for six, nine, twelve, or twenty-four hours is retarded (New record for the number of uses of "retarded" in a post?), and even to just expect a player to do it for a while, take a break/nap, and resume while it's been running the whole time is also retarded.

(I think I counted six. Not sure if that's a record or not, but I wasn't actually going for it. I just simply noticed the trend.)

I would like to have a save feature due to the fact that I have a 4 month old sone that at times doesn't let me play for more than 15 minutes. I won't even attempt the endurance on A spec until there is a save option.

I play, on average probably an hour a day, so for me to be able to complete a 24 hour race I would have to leave my playstation running for about 24 days straight. That makes a lot of sense, I would like to eventually complete all races in the game but I doubt that will ever happen without a few mid race saves available. Considering that the majority of the time someone will spend playing the offline modes are now the endurance races and b spec. If you don't want to do those races that really limits the overall apeal of the game. Since I would guess that he majority of the people that bought this game will be casual players this could end up really hurting the gran Turismo franchise in the future.

I just can't see how the folks responsible for creating the game actually thought this was the way to go to make the game as fun and appealing as possible.

Guys, In case you ddnt know. Kaz said it on twitter that they are currently developing ingame race save option for endurance races.

Check out home page/news of this site.

I thank you for your service and keeping us safe here in the US.
Go Joe!
(gijoe)

Im amazed that inspite of being a deployed soldier in iraq you still manage to play gt5.

you have been racing for 3 hours on tsukuba and pause for dinner . . . Wife/gf turns off ps3 thinking its just been left on.

You know you have all brought up very good points. Life, yeah some us can leave our machines on all day, but stuff like bad weather ruins our hopes of finishing.
Also thanks for all the support, i get about 2-3 hours a day to play. mostly on downtme. but i can do all day B-spec events, i have my own room, since i have a few more stripes than other. but some of my buddies here cant even do that much. They have to share a room. The one thing we all gripe about is wanting to save the race at a point, and come back later a keep on going.

I was wondering if anyone did the endurance races and how they managed to do them. I can't imagine a less appealing use of my time than to go round and round at the Tsukuba 9-Hour Endurance race (on the most boring track of all time). Can it get worse? Yes, at any of the 24hr endurance races regardless of the track used.

I for one am boycotting the endurance races until there is a save feature in the game. I even boycotted them in B-spec in that I set them before I go to bed and check on them the next day. I don't see a darn thing about what happened and really couldn't care less. There's little enjoyment in B-spec racing much less when goes on and on and on particularly when it's clear right from the first lap that Bob would have to die to lose.

I don't advise anyone to sit that long or even break up the sessions over several days praying the entire time that the machine won't hiccup. There are better things to do.

LOL @ "Undisclosed location".

You aren't playing GT5 while on a mission. And you aren't living in some hodgies cellar. Which puts you at a identifiable, established and most of all modernized Military Base.

Aside from your personal paranoia, that comment was just a grab at attention.

It would also be good to be able to go in the pits and your Bob take over and do the next stint.

I did the 4h Nurburgring without a break yesterday - even went for a wiz at the pitstop. Not recommended - my thumbs still ache.

And what exactly is a comment like this? Why does it even matter? I work for an undisclosed company in an undisclosed location, and eat undisclosed things for dinner. They're undisclosed because I have chosen not to list them for you and are therefor, are not enclosed.

That all said, I know at least one place where you wouldn't be allowed to list where you were and you would definitely be able to play GT5, AND how or why is it more beneficial for the individual to list where they are?

Furthermore, why would YOU a presumed service member in the military (as you're such aware of the verbiage) feel it necessary to belittle another alleged member of the military on a public forum?
