Cizeta is the only one that I've ever taken the time to drive just to listen to. That's why I have five of them, and use it extensively online, despite it being kinda crap.
By far the best and most realistic has to be the Jensen interceptor I should know my neighbour has one and fires it up every Sunday and the game version sounds just like it with its low rumbling V8
The Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II has a really nice sound. So does the street version of the Ford GT if you put a race exhaust on it. Range Stormer also has a decent sound I think.

-Mustang SVT Cobra R
-Zonda C12S 7.3 (really good at low-mid rpm's)
-Jaguar S-Type R/XFR
-Jaguar XKR Coupe
-A lot of the old muscle cars
-Aston Martin V8 Vantage
-Mazdaspeed Atenza

Different engine note, very mechanical - can hear the teeth of the cogs meshing with the gears - And a snip in the OCD lot presently. Treble-0 Double-U twelve.
The Mk1 GT40 also has a rich engine note, as has been noted. (Also in current OCD)

Also the 2001 Subaru Impreza Prodrive version. Stock exhaust it sounds real to the real life model and the 2004 model in real life. My buddy/team mate on SR Elite actually owns one TheKitten you should hear the voxer messages when he is on his way home. I am jealous of him haha

Why does changing the transmission to anything other than stock make the biggest difference soundwise, the Challenger R/T actually sounds good but tops out (as most old muscle cars do)at 130ish and sounds like a vacuum cleaner with the custom trans .Is there something im missing? a setup for the custom trans i havent tried?i find this for all cars standard or premium.

I believe that's because the custom box has straight cut gears, which is often seen on racecars. Instead of a diagonal cut which is common on roadcars.
the 5/6 speed close-trannie box still has the diagonal cut gears so with those you won't have the whining sound.
so if you put a close-speed trannie on a car, or keep the original one, you won't have te whining/'vacuum cleaner' sound.
