I have £100 to spend on a steering wheel + pedals, for GT5.
Need something in the UnitedKingdom. Thanks for all your help.

You guys can buy the Driving Force GT.
It's well under your price range(I think) and it's a great wheel to use.

I really don't know how much money that is in my world over here in the United States but the Logitech Driving Force GT is about $100 US Dollars, it's an "official" wheel from PD, and it works great. I have a handful of online racing buddies that use this wheel and are very happy with it. I also use it and highly recommend it.

That or the porsche wheel....the fanatec G2 I believe...it has an H shift and 900 of rotation plus a clutch petal....at that budget that would be my first choice.

HKS controller

shaved seconds off my laptimes within 5 minutes of plugging it in, my driving has only improved since

I used to play GT4 with a wheel, but couldn't justify buying another one for GT5, but this does the job just fine

Amazing, but looking for a wheel really.

I got the DFGT for £80 from Argos just before Christmas (£81.69 now because of the VAT increase).

It's marked as out of stock, but if you add it to your basket and then ask to be notified when it's in stock, you should get an email within a few days. Make sure you reserve or buy it _straight away_ though because they all get sold ridiculously quickly.

The wheel is fantastic. GT5 becomes a completely different game.

Thoroughly recommended.

Yea DFGT is well worth the price.
The wheel itself is fantastic, only letdown are the pedals which are still perfectly functionable though.

Then by dirt 2. Or better still wait for 3 in march.

The DFGT is definately the best wheel for under £100, it's what I have and it's very very good for the price, you just might want to stick some sponge or something behind the brake pedal to give it a little more resistance though. :)

DFGT is the best value wheel on the market no doubt. I got mine from Game for £80 so you could try there if Argos are out of stock.

I'd have to try that HKS controller before spending £30 on it, but it does sound interesting.

I repaired my Logitech DFP after finally finding replacement "pots" online. But before deciding to repair it, I did look to find a cheaper replacement, but there really isn't anything out there.

As posters above had said already, the best wheel for a budget right now is a Logitech Driving Force GT.

If you cant get it in stock at Argos you can try Gamestation where I got mine for £80, its out of stock at the moment but gives you another place to keep an eye on. It retails at £120 so £80 is quite good

Im roughly in the same boat, I can't find that HKS controller for less than £45 anywhere atm. Which was something I was considering.

But, I got a voucher from work for christmas at HMV for £40
so was considering dropping £10 of my own cash and getting this
(you can get it cheaper elsewhere - but for £10 I'd hope it was better than the SIXAXXIS that im using now!)

I had a DFGT in the past though (bought for prologue) and thought it was awful - my main problems were:
How weak the ffb was when bouncing off kerbs and stuff
and
The brake pedal
plus I paid £120 at the time, which was'nt worth it, so I took it back

If i were you i would definately consider the Fanatec Carerra wheel, I know its over budget by probably £50 or so, but a 6 speed gearstick and the damping/customisability of it really seem worth it.

Before getting the wheel, give some thought to what and where you'll be clamping it onto. You get the most out of a wheel when you have a stable platform to clamp it onto while at the same time keeping both the wheel and pedals in a comfortable racing position.

I've already through about it thanks :dopey:.

That Ferrari GT experience wheel is crap to be fair. I had it, the DFGT is a really good wheel and I recommend it.

Does anybody know of any stores in the uk that has the DFGT in stock for under £100. i cant find any.

Does the Thrustmaster F430 FFB wheel work with PS3/GT5?

It's available on Amazon for £82 currently, and it's in stock. It's what i'm considering and it's certainly worth a look. The DFGT is out of stock though.

The Porsche Carrera wheel is a bit pricey for what it is, and by reviews i've seen/read, it's probably the loudest wheel on the market, with a very poor clamp as stock (If you don't have anywhere to hard-bolt it down). There aren't really any other decent wheels around the £80-100 price range. The only wheel worth looking at below this price range is probably the DFP.

I'm looking at F430 vs DFGT at the moment. How good is the F430 for GT5? Is it gear driven or belt (Quiet/loud?)? Are there that annoying dead zone in the middle like i've heard the DFGT has?

Only consider a Fanatec wheel if you going to hard mount them. Fanatec clamps are not as good as Logitechs.

ISR says NO to the 430 for GT5. Apparently it's rather weak on the FFB

Before the review they do a wheel rundown. Jump ahead to the 26:00 mark.

I'd think the brake pedal and the deadzone on the DFGT would annoy me a whole lot more than weak FFB. But because i've never had a FFB wheel before, I don't know what i'm buying, i'm just stabbing in the dark.

I really don't like the look of the Fanatec Carrera wheel, it looks loud, flimsy and plasticky. The pedals, especially the throttle looks like it's got no resistance at all so how is that going to help throttle modulation? The shifter looks very badly made and appears as if it's going to break. I heard the clamp isn't too sturdy either, and bolting is not an option for me.

Can anyone else with an F430 wheel give me their impression first hand? I'll probably end up going for the DFGT anyway, when it begins to come back in stock, but it's worth looking at another wheel too. ISR's original review for the F430 was very positive (For games like iRacing, lfs, rFactor, RBR etc.), I wonder why it's so different with GT5?
