Voted DFGT because I have got one
I bought the dfgt because it was designed by PD and Logitech for GT5 it is used by Kaz himself and is used in all the gt pods, plus I didn't want a clutch or another box to mount (H shifter),I see the 6 speed shifter as pointless because in cars like the F1 and plenty of super saloons well they have 7 speeds ! and real life performance cars rarley come with a stick shift nowdays anyway. dfgt has more buttons (19 + dial). When you take into account the price difference its a no brainer.

Hey guys, Im from NZ but im going to Europe on the 27th... so i'll only get to play GT5 for 2 days =[ Anyway my question is how much do G27's cost in Europe? I'll be going around Italy, London and Paris mostly so could anybody tell me where it would be best to get a g27? and how much would it cost?

Thanks guys

I decided to buy a Fanatec GT3 V2 wheel to play with GT5.

I will be able to put my hands on it (and GT5) only in December 25th (when I will be back from vacations), so if anyone has already tested GT5 with Fanatec GT3 V2 please let us know if everything worked fine!

Of course that because of Fanatec "not so professional" customer service (although for me everything went absolutely fine) and company size it is a riskier choice than a Logitech G27, but I think better quality and customization options worth it.

Regards!

Are people just voting for what they own?

The Fanatec is the best wheel out of the available ones to vote for. It has the best peddles and the best FF according to reports. I have the DFGT but I certainly wouldn't vote for it

So you voted on a wheel you didn't have? Also the title "Best wheel for GT" and DFGT could in fact be the better wheel in GT5 yet not for other sims like Iracing for example. I have a Fanatec and prefer G27 so some of us have more than one wheel or had another in the past. CSP are better than G27 pedals yet I like G27 wheel and shifter a lot better. On PC I use G27 with CSP.

I would like a new wheel, I don't need one. Come January or Feb., I'd like to be upgrading from the G25. Hopefully there will be a new wheel that has the features and functionality of the DFGT along with the quality of G25, G27, or GT3rs v2. I don't think anyone would say the Fanatec CSP are not the best of the bunch. The only way to use those on a PS3 is to use then with a Fenatec wheel.

I also want to see if the G27 is fully functional with GT5, I'm focusing on the 6 wheel buttons. I'm really curious how those buttons coincide with PlayStation's button allocation. Unless they added R/L 4 & R/L 5, those extra two buttons will be of no use.

Sure there will probably be a killer deal on a G27 for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. But if the wheel cannot be used to its full capabilities, it not worth the money saved. On the other end of the scale, how will Realtime Adjustments, horn, wipers, and high/low beams be implemented with the GT3rs? The GT3rs w/CSP is around $400, if it is not fully functioning, that is a big chunk of money not well spent.

I've been telling my wife for several months that all I want for my birthday is a Buttkicker and all I want for Christmas is a Fanatec GT3rs v2 with CSP. We'll see how it all pans out in a few days, which wheel [G27 or GT3rs] is ideal for GT5.

One thing that is very appealing, Thomas from Fanatec is an active member here and we pretty much have his ear. The same CANNOT be said about Logitech.

I still have the Driving Force Pro. Could anyone tell me if it's worth upgrading to a GT or G25/7? I'm just interested in realistic steering feel, e.g. force feedback quality. Buttons and shifters aren't as important for me.

I use a G25 on a Wheel Stand Pro and its brilliant. Works well and positioned how I like it...well worth the money that my wife paid for it :)

Yet you do have options with G27. For example I know in USA there are deals time to time where you can buy a G27 under $200 (rumor there will be a deal at logitech this week). This is cheap enough to put it in price range of G27 + perfect brakes mod with GT3 RS vs2 with CSP.

No doubt the best way to simulate a hydraulic brakes is with hydraulic fluid. Then there are cheaper version of load cell brake mod. (I"m serious thinking about getting a set when I got $200 to blow)

Another advantage G27 pedals has over CSP as shown in the link is each separate pedal can be hard mounted so you can easily remove the pedals from it's case to hard mount them upside down. CSP pedals are not easily separated from it's built-in frame. So while CSP are better than the standard G27 pedals yet G27 are easy to mod.

He over at other sim sites as well like ISR. Fanatec is a lot smaller company that focus only on wheels and racing rigs yet Logitech seem to have better support since it's a much larger company.

I have the DFGT and the PWTS. The DFGT is good for the money but the Fanatec is great.

Best Steering wheel? G27 or Fanatic.

Best Steering wheel for GT5? DF-GT.

It was made in conjuction with GT5/P. The braking, the steering angles, its all perfect for GT.

I hope the G27 will be on super-sale like in the summer (I don't have the money for one because I had to get a new computer today because the other one crashed:()

Fanatec GT3 RS V2 is best wheel for GT5. Best FFB out of all Logitech wheels, as well you can change steering degree on the Fly, so you can have Race car with 360 degree if you like and not full 900.

What can I say. I met Kazunori several times and he likes our wheels a lot. I am sure he he makes sure that our wheels work fine alhough they are not "official".

And even if there is something you want to tweak you can do that with your Tuning functions. So actually you have more functionality than the "official" GT5 wheel.

DFGT is great for the price i love the real time adjustment knob 👍 its a big bummer that there is no clutch though

I'm thinking about this combo over the G27 - but it's pricy, so it had better work properly in GT5. I really like all the options the wheel has. And should feel more like a real car. The Logitechs just feel too dinky and small. Release date is the same as GT5 here :)

$699AUD :(

It says it works well with GT5:P, time will tell, and I jope it's reliable, because it better be at the price

What are the Tuning functions?

You can change the behaviour of the wheel independent from the game.
For example you can change the steering angle which is not possible in the normal game options.
You can also change the FF effects directly if you like more or less damper or spring forces.

And you can set a ABS vibration in GT5 which indicated the point when your tyres are about to lock.

If any of you have watch my "so-called 24 hour race, you would notice i use a logitech g27. i realized that if you do a long race that requires piting, and if your like me and use the clutch. the Ai driver wont leave the pit. its strange because you cant do anything except pause.

The Fanatec GT3 RS V2 with the standard paddles and the shifter.

The answer is 42.
I prefer the G27 over the Gt3 Rs v2 especially the paddles and shifter. I don't think you can go wrong with either wheel yet Logitech does have better support.

I bought a DFGT back in early December and have used that ever since and always thought it worked very well, but the pedals were definitely too sensitive with no resistance. (I eventually put a bungee cord around the brake pedal to give it some resistance)

Then, I got lucky... a friend in one of my college classes had a G25 he hardly ever used since getting it for Christmas a year or two ago and gave it to me FREE....I must say that after using it for only 3 days now...that it feels like cheating, it's that good compared to the DFGT. The pedals are 1000x better and the FFB works great...I always felt the DFGT gives you unnecessary FFB. It makes driving the high HP cars much easier to drive AND I feel like I finally have working brakes.

If I could vote it would be G25 since that's the best I've used. If you are low on money or trying to save money, the DFGT is not a bad buy, but if you can save up the extra cash, I highly recommend the G25. It's like a whole new experience opened up.

I bought the g25 some four years ago and haven't looked back once (... well I did when the shifter broke and I had to go back to logitech and get it replaced, but this was only a problem on the earlier models). The wheel has taken quite a beating but it still feels like it just came out of the package.

I've tried the g27 only once so I can't really comment on the difference between them. I guess the motors are stronger (in calibration the wheel turns faster), but I didn't notice a difference. The lack of a sequential stick though tips it towards the g25 for me.

All in all, get a g25/g27 and you're all set.

Lol at only Fanatec option, being "Fanatec"...

Let me tell you the Carrera and the GT2 are worlds apart.

Carrera is a GREAT wheel, wish I had more money to get a GT3 though!

To top my wheel off A sequential shifter would be great, but only way to get one is through a bundle with a H shifter, which I already have xD

Oh and shifter paddles :) Don't like the DFGT style shifter buttons.
