Yeah good luck. It's pretty fun at the start, but it can get kind of frustrating as you get closer and closer to the times you need.

First hour with the car this evening, first successful run was a 2:27. I have since got down to 2:19.0, just takes ages to get used to it, it's such an alien experience....

I think I can bronze the Nurburgring one with a bit more practice - but although I quite enjoyed the hour of toiling, I'm not sure I can be bothered! I much prefer something slightly slow in comparison, like a 908 HDi :)

Will give the other tracks a go for an hour each and then return to the Nurburgring - I'll have this cracked by April I reckon! :)

It is very difficult with the control pad for sure. Imagine Wipeout HD in Zone mode at about Zone 50 and if you hit the walls you're disqualified.... tricky stuff

Wow! You guys are fast, i can honestly say i've never felt so hopeless doing anything on any gt game as these challenges, ive bronzed nurburgring and monza after hours of trying, only had a few go's around suzuke, best lap 1.11 but ive not finished both laps yet, ive pretty much 100% all the previous games and golded everything but i honestly feel like this is beyond me, was kinda resigned to jus aiming for bronzes but u guys are giving me hope, even if it's gna take me 6 months to get those silvers and golds!! Much respect to those who already have, your skills far exceed mine, FEEL PROUD!!👍

Heh, good luck, and keep trying! My skills are gonna be greatly diminished by the time I get done with the last B-spec enduro. Man it's lame how they set that up.

Spent just over an hour on Nurburgring to get a 1:07 first lap time (as long as I dont mess up). But everytime I see that 1:07 and know I can bronze it if I do the same on the second lap I get nervous and start making mistakes. My best overall was off by about a second from bronze.

What setup are you guys using on the car to get fast times? I just want to bronze it and move on.

I took an X1 (got through trade) into Suzuka in Arcade mode. I use a DS3 and had never driven the X1 before this. Suzuka isn't the best track to start learning the X1, but i adore Suzuka (<3 Degner turns), so i gave it ago. Tried for about 10mins and man the X1 is hard to control. I haven't even managed to do turn 1 properly! I think i'll wait until lvl30 A-Spec and give the challenge a proper go and get used to the car. My best lap after about 15mins was a 1.2x.xxx or something, and i spun like twice. :P

I got all 3 bronzes about a week ago, not going back to try for silvers until I get around to buying a logitech wheel. I doubt Gold is possible, its obvious the game is faster with a wheel than a controller, and I dont mean easier, physically faster. Its likely Sony is "in on it" with Thrustmaster or Logitech or both, to combine the revenue in some mysterious way.

Does it give you another X2010 if you go back and get silver or Gold? Dont know. I have 2 of them, one from the Vettel Challenge and one from getting LVL 35 on B-spec. I'd like to get another free one, by getting silvers or Golds with the wheel. Dont know if it lets you get 4 free ones.

To all those who say their X2010 is un-drivable>>> its because your X2010 has too many miles on it from endurance races. Once this car (I think its like 750 miles) gets too much distance on it the whole thing becomes undriveable above 180 mph. The B-spec drivers can drive it like brand new however which is really wierd.

Actually, for those that think it's significantly easier with a wheel, it isn't. I've done the challenges with both the pad and the G27 and my times on the Nurburgring GP track (2:13.5-ish) and Monza (2:08.1-ish) are remarkably similar using either.

The main problem with a pad is half throttle or brake if you're using X and [], but using the triggers can somewhat solve that. Also, your reactions on a pad will be slightly quicker and tight turns can be just that little bit easier, as you don't need to crank the wheel all the way over and then return to neutral.

Suzuka features many more half-throttle corners (mostly at the beginning), so i'd say that is easier with a wheel.

O, and quick tip to make life easier, you don't need TC or even skid recovery really (the X1 is very stable and if you really do start to skid, you're not going to make the time anyway), but unless you're a driving god, ABS at 1can significantly shorten your braking distance. I did ABS off mostly and only just got bronze for Suzuka and Monza that way, but I was locking up the wheels too much, slowing me down. Turning it to 1 made me go quite a bit faster.

Actually, for those that think it's significantly easier with a wheel, it isn't.

It really is. You've got it backwards, the throttle/braking buttons aren't the problem (using the analog stick gives more than good enough of control over it), it's the steering that's the issue. Even though the analog stick can easily be pushed left or right, it still can't turn the wheel as far as you can if you actually have a wheel. For example, if you have a wheel you can get through the Suzuka esses without using the brakes at all while monitoring the throttle and keeping your speed in the 190mph range, try to do that with a DS3 and you can manage the throttle in a similar way but you'll still fly off the track because you can't steer as hard into the turns as you can with a normal wheel. Same goes for most of the turns in the challenge, you have to go through them at a lower speed with the controller because you can't turn the in game wheel as far as you need with the analog stick. You have to have the actual wheel.

Haven't unlocked the challenge but did a few laps in the X1 in Arcade Mode at Suzuka today. I'm getting used to the X1 now. Best lap so far is a 1:15.1 and that an invalidated one. I haven't even managed a proper clean lap yet. :P

I can do the Degner turns fine, the hairpin after it is also fine, so is Spoon and the chicane after 130R. The problem for me is the Esses. Thats where i always screw up. Guess i just gotta practice. :P

Oh and does anyone else find it easier to drive the X1 in the actual cockpit view? I was using bumper cam for a while and then i switched to cockpit view and it seems i have better control and can judge lines and stuff better..

I have a 2:12.513 on the Nurb, but I did only drive the X1 for the first time this morning.

I did manage a first lap of 1:05.6XX at one point, so I think 2:11.XXX will be reachable tomorrow.

Just managed a 1:10.1 at Suzuka! Getting closer to the 1:05 mark. :)

(with a DS3)

OMG you're my hero. Please post a replay vid when/if you get it. I BELIEVE IN YOU MAN!

>_> For some reason I thought that said 2:10. hehe

Heh yeah i goofed on that one.

Still working on GP/F My best lap is a 1:05.207 it was on my first lap. On the same run that I got that, I was doing really well on my second lap and got a sub 34 time at the second split but messed up on the Schumacher S and ended up losing probably over a second. ARGH Still ended up with a 2:11.204 which is my fastest time yet.

On GP/F: I managed to get a 1:04.920 on my first lap too bad I messed up the second lap. Doing well is my own worst enemy. Almost Every time I pull a good lap I get nervous on the second. That being said, I improved my time to 2:09.880. My second lap on that run was a 1:04.485

Oh, and Ferro, I see you're in here, don't be afraid to post! =)

Turn the instruments, times and stuff off. It might help as you won't know how good the first lap was time-wise, so you won't get nervous. If you use bumper cam it might be a problem though as you won't get able to see the speed dial and stuff.. but if you use cockpit view its fine. :)

I am pretty confident that it is technically impossible to gold suzuka with DS3... hence I chose to make a second account so that my 100% platinum isn't contaminated.

Yeah I was considering trying it like that but I just feel naked without them up there and it messes up my driving even more. I use the hood cam anyway and plus, I'm more accustomed to mph and the cockpit only shows kph (I mean I could adapt after a enough tries I'm sure but I'd rather just go with what I know). It's so frustrating. I did two runs in a row with sub 1:05 laps on the first lap and on both runs I started getting nervous and bailed ;_;

Woohoo! I got a silver medal on GP/F!. Time of 2:09.437 Still lots of improvements I see I could make. It's so damn hard making it all come together. Still saving this replay though.

You guys are insane! I bronzed Monza in 20 minutes, was loving the challenge! Then I moved on to GP/F... I have burnt nearly 5 hours around there, and not even bronze yet :( I'm lucky if I can do a 1:07.xxx.... Its just impossible for me! I know the car has more to give, but its too unpredictable so I have to drive within its limits to finish 2 laps... Its really frustrating (as my battered DS3 will prove...) completing 2 laps successfully for the first time in the last 2 hours, and finding that you were 3 tenths off bronze.

I have given up, its just not worth it for me. If I get a wheel in the future I'll be tempted to come back, but my controller and my patience can't take much more...

I have silver on 2 out of 3. I'm still working on Nurburgring GP/F. I can't seem to go fast enough for a silver. Maybe I'll try using TCS or skid recovery. Only thing is I don't seem to be losing traction anywhere without them.

1:03.2 on nurburgring (Got gold)
1:04.1 on Suzuka (Nearly got gold)
58.1 on Monza (Gold)

Average: 100-200 laps practice a day

My best laps on a ds3, Nurburgring was about 600-1000 laps cant remember exactly, more 1000 starts 600 laps. I would also recommend that on the first lap you smash through the moveable barrier you loose .5 but on the second lap it reduces the risk of over breaking and you get the .5 back. It wont fail you. I did the low 1:03 without the barrier and on a proper lap so I know both ways are possible.

Aids: SRF/DL/ABS: On,On,1 rest off. Automatic
Controller Programming: Changed the L2/R2 to brake/accelerate to get the pedal feel.

Suzuka currently on 400 laps and will get gold within the next few days as i can get a 1:03 with a perfect lap on the ds3.

Monza is very easy, did that quite awhile ago.

Aids (First track i did): Manual, all aids off except driving line.

Will also be uploading videos of these when i get back to uni :).
