No the Zonda was orange. Looked mental! I want one. JC was in his Ford GT, Hamster in the Zonda and James in a F430. Was one of the best ever reviews. They drove to italy and back in their supercars, and over the most amazing bridge i have ever seen. See if you can find a download somewhere.

VW W12 Nardo Concept

The fastest road Volkswagen ever made, The Nardo concept was tested at the Nardo track in Italy to ensure that it would be as fast as possible. And boy it is fast.

The unordinary W12 engine gives a load of power through the whole rev range and the car could be driven in normal traffic by putting the gear into fourth of fifth and not shifting at all. This tells something about the torque.

Everyone has their own preferences but I didn't like the sound of the engine, it resembles a lawnmower too much to give a sporty feeling. Changing the exhaust might cure this minor problem.

The exterior is very supercar-ish and it can be seen that this car was made to achieve the highest possible top speed. There is virtually nothing to disturb the smooth air flow over the car, even the front wheelarches are bulged to allow for a lower nose with a shape similar to a wedge.

The Nardo can be easily identified by the bright metallic orange colour that shines like a sun among the grey and black cars on the streets. The wheels are ugly in my opinion but I'm sure they were made for functionality more than looks.

The handling, however, isn't as good as in some other supercars. The Nardo has a tendency to understeer heavily under even the slightest braking and then progress to a snap oversteer as soon as the driver takes the foot of the pedal.

The brakes themselves, well, if someone complains about the brakes of the Ford GT, they should drive this car. The Ford seems to have exceptional brakes after that.

Despite all its problems, this is a truly fast car when driven correctly. Just brake early and let the brake off before turning.

It's not an orange Zonda but it's an orange supercar. Enjoy. :)

It seems that someone should update the leaderboard. :odd: To whom was this job assigned?

(Sorry Vonie/spykerdriver)
First Thoughts:
I was dissapointed in this car. Before I even drove this car, I though it would be an awesome supercar. Then, to my surprise, as soon as I braked for the first corner, I just went straight into the wall. The brakes seriously suck on this car. It weighs 1070kg ( If I remember right) but it just doesnt slow down. It feels as is the brake pads are being pressed together by hand. Then the next thing I noticed in this car is the understeer while braking. You have to start braking really early, AND you have to do it all before the turn. Not a very good combination if you are trying to make a fast car.

Driving Experience:
Its a great car, as long as you have a wide smooth track with long sweeping corners. As soon as it comes to the really curvy stuff, I acually found it faster to drift than grip. Now, come on, who wants to have a supercar drift. High horsepower, MR layout cars were made for grip and speed, not for sliding around corners. Even then, it still wasn't very good, because its a supercar, have you tried drifting a Zonda or some other supercar? They just don't drift very well, it's like trying to drift an F1 car. They just were not made for those things. It becomes very twitchy, and counter-steering just a bit too much throws it into a deadly understeer, aimed straight for the wall. The only thing that I really liked was the engine. It is a powerful 400hp+ engine with loads of torque. I think this is the only thing that really pushed this car to a decent time.

Looks:
As for the looks, this is where the good part comes in, It looks very aerodynamic and fast, all the white and black parts really make it stand out from other cars. All the different scoops and stuff really give the car an aggressive and mean look. I think the back could have been stlyed better, but thats just me, I don't really like the back lights on it, they just spoil the look for me.

Overall:
I think that this is a great car, with lots of potential, ruined by bad brakes and handling. The car can't put the engine to it's limit. Suspension stuff and things like that can help, but I don't think the handling can be totally reversed. In a scale of 1-10 I would have to give it a 7. Its a fast car, but everything else makes it bad.

damn nice stuff you guys, and btw, i'll get the leaderboard, normally its ekmatt, but i'll do it this time, great work you guys, excellent choice of cars, fine times too!

Suzuki Kei Works '02

People always want bigger, faster and flashier cars, but also the small cars have their own, important mission in moving the world. They weren't made for breaking speed records, they were made for getting from place A to place B. This little Suzuki is tuned a bit by the factory but it still is quite modest when it comes to performance.

The body design is quite attractive with the rear spoiler and the air scoops in the nose of the car, and the red paint job enhances the image even further. The headlights are great, one really feels quite enlightened when seeing this car at night. The performance pack also includes six-spoke alloy wheels that complete the sporty exterior. This Suzuki looks like the 1600 class rally car for street use.

The car handles extremely well. It can be thrown into corners without worrying too much, the four-wheel drive and good suspension geometry take care of sticking it on the road. The behaviour is neutral to slight understeer and surprising snaps are virtually impossible. There is some body roll, but taking the measures of the car into account, it's nothing alarming.

The brakes are excellent, the feel is great and the stopping distances are phenomenal. Part of this performance comes from the light weight of the car but still, there are even lighter cars that don't have this good brakes.

But then the bad part: the engine and transmission. I may be too demanding here as this car isn't meant for fast driving but... the engine isn't powerful enough considering the other capabilities of this car. 63 bhp from a displacement of 659cc is very much, but still more is needed. Surprisingly enough, the engine gives most of its power throughout the rev range, not just in the top like many small engines. The turbo helps in this.

The gear ratios could be better, now the second gear is too short, the third is good and the fourth one is too long. This really kills the acceleration as the shifts take too long and the speed has time to drop before the engine begins to pull again. The car also loses speed on uphill sections because of the gear ratios.

Conclusion: This is a very good-handling car that needs a stronger engine and a new gearbox.

Good comment of the Suzuki :) the comment of the Laviolette are too impresionant and the photos are really great. 👍

Sweet 👍 But why the heck?
Mainly for fun  but I thought some people might be having a hard time deciding what car to use in the Lightweight Cup and this may help them. :)

Super sexy shots of the Spyker, PB.
Missed the W12 and Kei, GC. An awesome write-up on both.

Just Curious. will there be another update anytime soon?? I love both the BESTesters and BESTuners thread. They're Great 👍 Luckily I've been accepted in as a BESTuner. Ya'll need some help over here??

Wow, i don't think there will be anything soon. This thread sorta died, it's not much fun driving stock cars around. After a while you run out of stuff to say.

Some requests would get this thing up and running again, I stopped because I ran out of ideas.

How about the Nike car? Or the tank car? I don't know if you can test one-of-a-kind cars, but those are interesting, IMO.

Or do the Yellowbird, if you dare. ;)

BMW 1-series, 120i

The BMW 1-series was something completely new to BMW when it was released and it was meant to take control of its class right away. The rear-wheel drive layout was to provide superb handling characteristics and so on. But how does this Baby Beemer do on track?

It has one main problem, common to almost all new cars. It weighs far too much for its size. This little car weighs around 1300 kg, when much bigger cars used to weigh around 1000 kg just about two decades ago. I know that the extra weight comes from safety things like airbags and so on, but on race track they aren't of much use.

Oddly enough, the car handles well and the weight isn't as big a problem as one might think. The behaviour is neutral to slight understeer as almost all everyday cars. Still, if I would have to decide between this car and the MK V Golf, I'd take the Golf. This BMW just isn't as sporty.

The car looks good, quite coupe-ish although it's a practical family car. The modern cuttings on the side, however, make it look like the chassis was broken at about the halfway of the wheelbase. The nose is typical BMW with the "kidneys" in the grille and the headlights look quite similar to those found on other Beemers.

The engine then, well, the engine would be great if fitted to a car 300 kg lighter than this. Now it struggles to pull the car up hills and it really doesn't feel like a 150 bhp engine. The transmission may have an effect on this though. The gap between 1st and 2nd gear is far too big for track use and slow hairpins must be taken either in the 1st gear, over-revving the engine, or in the 2nd gear, and then waiting for a few seconds for the engine to get in the powerband again. The gears are good for freeway use, not for track use.

The conclusion:
Don't waste 30.000+ Cr on this. If you want a 1-series BMW, take the diesel. Otherwise, get some other car. But if you still want just this BMW, you know that its price will be at least doubled when you've finished tuning it.
