Suzuki Kei Works '02

People always want bigger, faster and flashier cars, but also the small cars have their own, important mission in moving the world. They weren't made for breaking speed records, they were made for getting from place A to place B. This little Suzuki is tuned a bit by the factory but it still is quite modest when it comes to performance.
The body design is quite attractive with the rear spoiler and the air scoops in the nose of the car, and the red paint job enhances the image even further. The headlights are great, one really feels quite enlightened when seeing this car at night. The performance pack also includes six-spoke alloy wheels that complete the sporty exterior. This Suzuki looks like the 1600 class rally car for street use.
The car handles extremely well. It can be thrown into corners without worrying too much, the four-wheel drive and good suspension geometry take care of sticking it on the road. The behaviour is neutral to slight understeer and surprising snaps are virtually impossible. There is some body roll, but taking the measures of the car into account, it's nothing alarming.
The brakes are excellent, the feel is great and the stopping distances are phenomenal. Part of this performance comes from the light weight of the car but still, there are even lighter cars that don't have this good brakes.
But then the bad part: the engine and transmission. I may be too demanding here as this car isn't meant for fast driving but... the engine isn't powerful enough considering the other capabilities of this car. 63 bhp from a displacement of 659cc is very much, but still more is needed. Surprisingly enough, the engine gives most of its power throughout the rev range, not just in the top like many small engines. The turbo helps in this.
The gear ratios could be better, now the second gear is too short, the third is good and the fourth one is too long. This really kills the acceleration as the shifts take too long and the speed has time to drop before the engine begins to pull again. The car also loses speed on uphill sections because of the gear ratios.
Conclusion: This is a very good-handling car that needs a stronger engine and a new gearbox.
