Better than XP leveling system

Just figured I'd have a go at making a leveling system since I think I can do better than the GT5 XP system:

1. A Gold Metal in a FULL race (i.e. Sunday Cup, GT All Stars, ect.) or event (i.e. AMG Intermediate, Karting Advanced, ect.) is worth G+S+B points.
Silver is worth S+B points.
Bronze is worth B points.

2. You do NOT re-earn experience points for replaying a race.

3. As long as you keep earning Bronze, 2* unplayed new Race and/or Events will be available.

If your average medal earned is closest to Silver, 3* unplayed new Race and/or Events will be available.

If your average medal earned is closest to Gold, 4* unplayed new Race and/or Events will be available.

*Until you get to the end of the Endurance Events. Less events will then be available, most likely only 1 at a time. At the very end, all gold metals in everything else will be required to get into the final 24 hour Nurburgring Race.

4. Summary: You never have to replay events to level up. You must get Gold in everything to "beat" the game.

Opinion: The current system used in GT5 requires a semi-skilled player with a frig-load of time on their hands to "beat the game." My system will require a highly-skilled player to beat the game, and will not feel like a waste of time i.e. grindfest.

You lost me at 'metal'. Medals are made of metal.

I dont see how this system would be any better than just reducing the number of XP requied to advance

He's just trying to suggest a system where you only have to race every race once and that's it. Rebuilding the whole thing for that is a waste of time if that's the goal. Just play the damn game the way it came.

Id prefer races be locked by prerequisite races, much like your idea, but also licenses, like they used to be. Add more restrictions, similar to the seasonal events, but not so hard.

Or... how about when you earn a higher license, you get new race classes and higher levels of competition opened up to participate in? Err... wait...

My opinion probably almost does not matter since I don't really play offline for fun, but I don't like that idea if I'll need to complete single player to have full access to online. There shouldn't be a need to do every race to unlock everything.

I think completion should be completion, ie 100% of everything golded. No levels at all.

They really should have placed more emphasis on using the licence tests to progress further in the game - currently they are completely redundant apart from the extra XP they offer.

I think if they go back to I think it was GT4, where when you re-enter an event, you basically re-start the event and can win a prize car again, people will be more interested to do the events over and over. Also, let us be able to sell all the cars.

I was fond of rerunning the muscle car championship/ Seattle in GT2. I believe it rewarded you with the Shelby/ AC Cobra, from what I remember the payout was pretty good for a few minutes of work. 👍

Thank you. English isn't everyone's first language.

Honestly, those are artificial ways of adding game re-playability. Instead of doing meaningless tasks (grind) over and over, there should just be more unique events. GT5 *SHOULD* be so good that playing races with your car and earning no reward but the joy of driving (and trying to win) takes over every player.

Man that's too complicated. Just go back to the way it was in GT4. Licenses actually mean something & earn you the right to compete in higher levels, rerunning an event got you the reward car again. Reselling a car could net you a decent amount of money. There was no need to change this setup. It was perfect. I never felt any need to "grind" or like I was "stuck" like I've felt in GT5.

Interesting! I didn't realize people really liked that reselling thing. I remember doing it a few times in GT3 or GT4 because I was stuck, and I felt like "where's the give me the car for free button, what I am doing is so meaningless." Gran Turismo is a video game, nor chore or job!

I actually like the suggested system a lot. There should be more unique events, and you shouldn't be forced to beat each event more than once.

I'd think it might not even be a bad idea to have generated events... At any given time there's a random pool of 5 or 10 events, with certain car/tuning restrictions. When you complete 1, a new one gets randomly generated to take it's place.

That way, ok, you might have to play more races, but at least they'll always be different.
