Biggest letdown in the game...

The control settings in the games pissed me off!!! I was really hoping that I would be able to change the layout to a more GT style layout (x to gas, square to brake and l2r2 for shifting). There is no preset layout that even comes close and mapping individual buttons is out of the question.

I dont have a wheel so I am stuck with this setting, the wheel makes it allot more pleasant. Even with the wheel I still cant map the buttons (no camera turning button and the nos is on the shifter console with the g25).

I still think the game is really fun and the crappy mandatory control schemes is the only thing that pisses me off.

The beauty of racing games on the ps2/ps3 is the pressure sensitivity that all the buttons have, I think it was a shame, its my only major gripe with the game. The limited car and track selection is not as big a deal to me (its not like its gt5p minimal lol).

ANYONE WITH ME?
ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS?
ANY DISAGREEMENTS?

Well actually only thing thats good is the driving experience (not simulation but its fun/intense for most of the time). Also like the badge ideas and stars. Practically all the other stuff in the game (livery editor, options, damage visual, menus) is a let down, it just spells "Rushed and not finished". Feels like 10 years ago.

Control layout is actually what i would want, but individual buttons layout should be possible in 2009. love the l2/r2 combination for the gentle gas and braking needed.

Yup, I want to change gears with right analog stick, but nooo... now I'm stuck with automatic ><
Can't believe it isn't mandatory for games to have custom controls.

I think there's a resolution in front of the UN security council right now concerning this issue. ;)

I'm a bit surprised there's no side-view.

I just hate starting the game, I don't think I should have to select a language and read about autosave every time I put the disc in.

So true, that is so annoying. I'm really disappointed with shift overall. It's nice but it lacks so much stuff and the bugs (without any sign of EA trying to make a patch or anything is alarming). Can't really explain it, the driving's cool up to a certain point and well I can't explain it but something's off somewhere :P

I'm getting very tired of the bouncing. Here I am trying to do the Tier 2 race at Spa in a WORKS MODIFIED 370Z, yet I can barely stay mid-pack from bouncing everywhere. After the first kink/uphill past the start, there's that long straight. I've hit 160+ there before with fewer mods. But with a Works 370Z I can't get over 140mph because the entire car keeps picking up off the track...

So true. Trying a Teir 4 race at Laguna Seca and before I even get to the first turn, I brake and the front goes flying into the air. 10 restarts later, I'm short shifting to 6th and going 70 down the front stretch and here comes the hydrolics. *boing boing boing* *Start, restart. 'sigh'*:indiff:

Tuning gets rid of bouncing... Ive tuned the bounciness out of a lot of cars... it does take time though.... There will always be bumps where it gets hairy but I have a level 10 RX7 where Ive tuned out almost all the "boing boing boing".... it onlys gets a bit hairy at 2 points on Spa and if you just remember those spots its not much of a problem... On the Ring it also glides over the many bumps there and bouncing is kept to a real minimum...

Tuning gets rid of bouncing...
Still, using tuning to correct a flaw in the physics feels so wrong...I'm actually very reluctant to do so. Chances that the current tunes will be worthless after the first patch are substantial IMO.

Thats true.. It would suck to makes tunes now and then when they patch it, if they do, youre tunes wont work anymore... :ouch: For now I just enjoy it as is and tune the cars to the best of my ability to get rid of that awful boucing sometimes...

Think it is more that case that default set-ups are wrong and that's what causing the bouncing. The only thing they need to do is add some basic working set-ups for the cars, so I think your set-ups will be usable in the future. On the otherhand, I might be 100% wrong ;)

The PS3's controller is not the best for the default botton option there should definatly be more layout options

Also why did the devs dicide that the reward cars are only accessable on quick race and not career???

P.S. has anybody seen where you unlock the Maserati MC12??
it doesnt come with uping your driver level nor is it in thye car lot

Well it does make sense you can't use them in career ... but, it doesn't make any sense you have the Maserati like from scratch and every fool can use it online, because it's one of the fastest cars, leaving the proper cars from career in the dust. :dunce:

Oh, good! Less work for me. ;)

Actually so it seems that are the updates tuning sets which are messed up and need to be tweaked. If you run a car from stock out of the box it would work fine. Upgrading it gets your hours to fine adjust it 'till you get the right settings.

Thinking of it as a challenge would make it more pleasant.

Yeah, forcing people to spend hours tuning just to make upgrades usable sounds really pleasant to me. Pretending it's a challenge instead of it being broken doesn't make it any less broken, and it certainly doesn't make things pleasant. EA needs to fix these bugs.

And tuning would be more pleasant if it was possible to do directly before a race, not having to jump through half a dozen menus with obscene loading times.

This is my biggest letdown and frankly a ridiculous thing to leave out. A pre-race tuning menu and test drive option is a must-have. Coupled with the long loading times it's enough for me to stick to quick-tune...

It doesn't bother me that you have to tune a car after its had upgrades, it just bothers me that its a pain in the arse to tune. We need a pit like most PC sim titles where you have access to your pit AFTER the loading screen, so you can test something, go to the pit, change it, then drive out of the pit all without waiting for loading times and menus.

The fact that upgrades screw the tuning I think its fair, to me its one of the costs of taking a crappy car and modifying it to compete with better cars, its not enough to stick a turbo on it and buy some race spec wheels, tires and dampers... you actually have to adjust them all so they work in harmony ;)

To me the biggest let down in this game, initially, was all the bugs in the PC version. Finally fixed the G25 brake issue only to have the game start randomly crashing to desktop, to have it CONSTANTLY crashing to desktop. After fixing that (all you have to do is delete the graphics config file to let it reset everything) it made me a lot happier, but it should never have happened in the first place.

After fixing those bugs, the biggest let down is Tier 3 and 4 :P Tier 1 and 2 were fun, T3 and 4 suck. The AI is far worse and flaws in the physics stand out more with the higher end cars. Since I've reached the faster cars I've kinda lost interest in playing.

This also is my really only complaint with the game, but it seems to me that there was a video with the developer showing off the game, don't remember where I saw it, but in that video he said they where addressing it. I would assume in the not to distant future we will be getting a update.

:)

I have a decent computer (2.33 Intel Quad, Ati HD4850x2, 3Gig ram on XP) and the loading times just seem appaling...I can load the world of Fallout 3 in less time it takes for a single track to load...

One thing I love about the Gran Turismo series...SHORT LOADING TIMES!

I was expecting a lot more out of the livery editor. Too many things that should be in there were not (Lettering, A Copy Tool, Car-Brand Vinyls, Cut-Outs, the ability to transfer one side of the car over to the other)

The huge number of glitches was pretty stupid as well.

Too many idiots online running Maserati's and Zonda's

Other than that I am happy with it.

The biggest disappointment is not being able to tune the race cars, at least if you were able to you could tune them to handle more 'sim' like you can with the road cars.

I just got the game yesterday and have not found anything yet!!
Even the "stuck on 98% loading time" mine installed in less than two minutes.

One thing though, I usually do not race with my PS3 connected to the internet. How do I stop the game from trying to connect to the internet in the middle of a race?

I've been playing racing games since PS1 came out, and NOW NFS is going to try to force me to use R2, of all buttons for throttle? and L2 for brakes? How the hell am I supposed to shift without letting off the gas? SQUARE?!?!? So I have to use the analog stick, which I prefer, ok, now you're wondering, so what's his gripe? I'll tell you, everytime I accidentally push in R3, I go to some stupid friends screen, and cut away from the race. This is so fing stupid, I can't even believe it. And there is NOTHING I can do to fix it. NOTHING.

HAHA! you found it! The only way you can do that, is to use R2 L2 for gas/brakes! Isn't the just super neat?

OK I'll keep this plain and simple...

Cockpit clattering noises (like in car viewing a WRC rally car) are really irritating and not real, unless it is a rally car.

Replays are jumpy and camera views are annoying, it's like a pissed up camera man trying to follow a car round a track.

The career mode is naff, I lost total interest in the crap missions you had to do and bought the Zonda R off the Playstation store for £2 :ouch:

Cockpit views are very good though, and the sound is perfect (especially the Zonda R) 👍
