Biggest Problem with Racing Online

Two main problems:
- Everyone uses racing soft tires
- Everyone uses maxed out cars

Not to mention people who can't drive/race.

I don not have wide screen tv so I can't even see out of my rear view mirror and side mirror. Also I hate it were everyone crashes on the first corner so they can be first. 2. Hate it when I'm on circuit de la sarth and when ur on the mulsanne straight, people push you toward the wall slowing you down. I had it done yesterday to me.

Funny excuse.
Don't you know that you can assign view left/right to your controls?

So what do you guys do when you're inside of a pack of people who will inevitably ram the 1st place car or go into the sand?

While what OP lists can be a problem, I've found that sometimes you need the odd noob who doesn't know how to race and who charges-for-the-lead-at-all-costs to liven races up a bit.

I race with the same group of guys (and indeed gals) who all race "properly", but I've found that when a noob enters the room, I find myself much more alert and on edge in the race (which is I'm sure what you're supposed to feel in racing), as I know the noob could cause all sorts of chaos

Maybe it's just me, but sometimes I like it when people who don't know how to race enter lobbies.

I say the biggest problem is no one ever picks cool stuff to race. Its always nascar this, 700pp that. So lame.

Personal preference; and ain't a thing wrong with that. Just have to find people who like to race the same platforms you do.

Using soft compound tires is forbidden in racing, right ?

Is two things.

1st - Everyone wants to be in the lead by the first turn.

2nd - People don't know how to race. It's pass the guy in front at all costs, instead of follow and pick your spots to pass.

Let me add a caveat to that. Few have 3 screens, so we don't have peripheral vision on the track. We can't see the guy beside us or in our blind zone. Then you want to pass on a tight corner. That won't work.

For hitting the nail on the head -> free hammer! hammertime, woooah-wooahh!

I race with some regular groups for different kinds of cars and it's a lot of fun. But, sometimes I want different and join randoms in open lobbies. It's usually disappointing, but not always.

Most fun races this week...400PP Sports Hard. Started on Cote d'azur and voted on tracks after that. It was a blast to drive with different players who had a clue.

Join the rooms that say Pro only because they're usually good. Sometimes it's impossible car-tyre combinations but mostly slow cars in comfort tyres.

I found an awesome lobby last night, 550pp with sports soft tire max, it was one lap of the Nurburgring 24h layout and I was constantly batting(cleany) with somebody else, we were constantly"swapping wins" and I added him as a friend, hopefully we'll do some more races like last night in the future. I also fell in love with my M3 CSL last night, what a great car it is!

I hate I'm drifting.... And sum random guy keeps pushing me into a wall.... The other day I found a really cool drifting lobby....

Get my drift?

I'm the 1st to admit I do make some mistakes, out brake myself a bit and nerf someones rear bumper, not on purpose, unless they've taken me out on purpose anyway, I've found a simple solution to pretty much all of the problems. Name your room something like fair driving or kicked. And then enforce it, if you see someone driving like a n00b then once the race is finished just kick them. After a couple of people being kicked the rest realise that you aren't messing about and you do get better racing.

The real problem is you guys are too obsessed with Winning! I usually only pick cars I want to race with regardless of others selections. So if I pick for example my 1986 Toyota Trueno and the Comp is picking Vipers and Zonda's 9 times out of 10 these dorks can't handle the HP so a 2nd or 3rd place finish is really a win in my eyes because I'm keeping up with cars with twice the HP, and I always point that out. If they start Talking garbage, I just go get my McLauren F1 Chromeline.

Its all a case of driving with the right people. Since I tend to race with experienced drivers, its rare to see the incidents spoken about in this thread.

I go on track days now. I was on the Nordschliefe in the dark in my integra and because I was with people in race cars, if I saw someone coming I would just let him past.

Every bloody time I go in a lobby that has 5 bar connection and 5 star quality, and as soon as I step in with my car or say something:
"You have been disconnected from the server."
And my connection didn't turn off, host didn't leave/kick me, and everyone else is fine! You know what? I'm serious... I haven't been able to get in ANY lobby today, just go to h:censored:l with those GT5:P servers and put it in GT5! You had 3 years to play that game, and if you didn't buy the final copy then your loss! I'm sick of having to deal with this sh:censored: every time I try to join my friends' or public servers! Glad to get that off my chest...

people trying to pass in difficult spots in Nordschleife, you cant move your car because you ll be off, slightly bump them, and they complain

I have come to the conclusion that having a "dictator" like host to enforce the rules with a iron fist is one of the most important factors. In most rooms When things get dirty the host wont do anything about it, even if people ask for someone to be kicked. At which point the room will typically go down the drain.

Yeah a 5 star connection is usually the worst connection for me too, I dont know exactly why. Once you learn to avoid these room you'll be better off. I have a average network connection speed. I have good luck with 3-4 star rooms.

biggest problem is the fact that the servers are ****e.

^this!!! I thought that using an ethernet cable instead of wifi would help this situations, but much to my chigrin, nothing has changed.
Also, I love racing the Nurb, but everyone jockying for position in the first 30 seconds and mayhem erupts. It's such a narrow track and people just 'bump' to pass and send you spinning. Not Fun.

Enough of my rant, Happy Racing!

I'm gonna blame this one on PD. Why? Career mode has ZERO damage. If you are able to wreck your car believe me YOU WILL drive differently. Answer: Set the room to heavy damage. Not. Want to clear out a room? Set it to heavy damage or strong penalty. If people had played the game with heavy damage from release date the rooms would be A LOT better!

I agree with this 100%. When I drive in a spec I don't care if I ram the ai, in fact I use them a lot more than I should to break and corner. So when I go online and race I am so worried about racing clean and not hitting anybody I turn into a grandma going to the grocery store.

Everyone uses RS tyres on everything, I hate it!!

I now never race online unless it's on here. I only ever go into cruise lobbies or free runs these days. Because as aforementioned all you get are a ton of rammers who whine on about rubbish, no matter what PP limit you're at and no matter what the room comment says. It's just so damn annoying these days :grumpy:

I think I should follow your lead.
The majority of GTP users seem to have good heads on their shoulders, unlike the babies ubiquitous in the Open Lobby.

Don't mean to sound like an ass but, there are mirrors on all cars. Plus the fact that you can configure directional buttons to look behind, left and right. Anyways we all have our annoyances, so yeah. Happy racing.👍

The biggest problem for me, apart from all those people who can't overtake, is those who fail to recognise a mistake.
I myself am prone to the odd spin (being ds3 / without aids), but I will always let those I slowed pass and will apologize through the chat before I start off, yet I will still get flamed and kicked after a race should that happen.
On a good race though, I am normally fast enough to be upfront, although after a spin I have a fair few cars to pass, and one or two of them will normally hit me when I pass them cleanly
