Kind of surprised there isn't a thread on this yet.

Anyone getting this game on Tuesday?

I loved the first one, but for some reason, this one doesn't appeal to me. Besides that, I have MAG and next month BFBC2 to keep me entertained. ;)

I bought BioShock 1 less than a year ago, and i have yet to finish it, it is a very good game,
but i havent been as attracted to play it as much as i am with GT5-P.

Furthermore, compared with Assassin's Creed 2 that my gf gave me for Christmas,
finishing/enjoying Bioshock 1 has fallen down in terms of priority....

So for the above reasons, i doubt i will buy Bioshock 2, even tho it might be a very good game,
but this is not my kind... I still enjoy too much GT5-P from the day i bought it with the PS3 two years ago ;) :P Cant let it go yet...
& waiting for GT5 impatiently, the very reason i bought the PS3, none others... (just like why bought the PS1 slim for GT2, and PS2 slim for GT4...)

I hope those who will buy BioShock 2 will share enough of their experience to entice us to buy this game too ...

Maybe on the computer, defiantly not on the PS3 because I hate the way it handles FPS (or FPSRPG's like Bioshock is).

And why is Bomberman on the cover of the game?

Picked up the first one for $20 before Christmas and platinum'd it. Pretty good game, really kept me interested and I wanted to keep exploring and learning more about Rapture, but for some reason the second one hasn't tickled me yet. Don't know why, story line or something, but I think I'll wait till it lowers in price before getting it.

Might rent it once I've got bored of MAG and played my other Rentals (Bayonetta)

C.

I will rent it this weekend. I heard the campaign is half the length of the first game and the multiplayer is having issues.

Wow this thread is dead.

I finally had a chance to rent this yesterday.

I played the multiplayer for at least a good solid hour and made it to level 4. I was surprised to see that it actually has TRUE matchmaking. [:)] If I am a level 1 I play with level 1 players. If I am level 4 I play with level 4 players. Just awesome!! Overall the multiplayer was quite fun. The matchmaking helps keep people together around the same experience level which is very nice and similar to the Halo 3 matchmaking. It also lets friends join each game and leave when you leave. That worked very well. Its fun but I see the multiplayer dying very quick for this game without some new maps and updates.

I only played the campaign for about 30 minutes so I really dont have any feedback on that yet. Doesnt seem to have the wow factor of the first campaign yet.

I played a few hours of the single player last weekend (PC version). It's not a bad game at all, I'm enjoying it so far. The new hacking mini-game is many times better than the pipe puzzles in BioShock 1. :)

Will try and finish it this weekend. :P Not really interested in the multiplayer.

Spent another hour or so in the multiplayer last night. Made it to level 9. I actually won several matches and tried a few different game modes. Its already getting harder and harder to find matches which is exactly what I expected. Give it another couple weeks and there wont be many people on at all. Or the ones that are on will only be playing certain modes. I will try to get through the campaign over the weekend sometime.

Got through the whole campaign on the PC version this weekend - it's pretty good; wouldn't say it's much shorter than the last (though it's shorter enough to be able to feel it), not quite as good story-wise, but the ending is better than the first. Certainly worth a play, but not at the present asking price.

I got the game this weekend through gamefly and am really enjoying it. It feels pretty much like the first one, but the gun/aiming mechanics are a bit better. I would say if you liked the first one, you will like the 2nd one. Really has the same feel. New weapons and gadgets. New enemies are added, as well as a different Rapture from the first one. Shouldn't make a difference but i'm playing it on xbox360.

I say if you liked the first one, you will like the 2nd one. I'm not interested in the multi-player. I'm just looking forward to seeing where the story goes. You have some voices/characters guiding you along like the first one, so i'm waiting to see who is true to their words etc. Now that you are a Big Daddy, you figured you wouldn't fear others, but they are tough, and there are Stronger ones. Even worse are the Big Sisters....:scared:

I finished Bioshock 2 two days ago.

I was completely stunned by Bioshock 1 and expected a lot from Bioshock 2. Most certainly after seeing the immensely impressive trailer (the little girl near the sea with the big toy). But where Bioshock 1 had a sense of greatness and a killer story, Bioshock 2 is more of a standard game.
It's not a bad game, I just expected more. Bioshock 1 I'd rate a 9.6, Bioshock 2 I'd rate a 7.7.
Pro:
- You can now use plasmids and guns/drill together
- The Speargun
- The Speargun
- The Speargun

con:
- Easy, compared to the first one
- Game world lacks a hint of greatness (something that fits art-deco)

Dang I cant believe you said this one is easier than the first one. I have died at least 50 times in Bioshock 2. I died maybe 3 times in the first game. This one is MUCH harder IMO.

I ended up re-renting it because I didnt get to finish the campaign yet. Been too hooked on Mass Effect 2 and Borderlands. lol

it's been so long since i played the first one, so i don't remember if there was a difficulty setting option, in Bioshock 2 i'm playing the Veteran (medium) difficulty, and it can be tough, the aiming/shooting mechanics are improved over the first one, but there are a lot more tougher enemies in Bioshock 2, which makes it a little more difficult to me. Sometimes fighting the big daddies etc, i will let myself die, if i'm close to a revita-chamber, as to not waste my healing/etc.

^ I do the same thing. If I am very low on health I just let them kill me so I revive with health and eve.

Played for another hour or so and I made some more progress. Hopefully I am getting close to the end because its just becoming a grind to finish this game now.

Yeah? I died at least 50 times in Bioshock 1 and about 3 times in Bioschock 2 :D
I always select normal difficulty. In BS1 I always ended up not having enough money to buy either ammo or health. In BS2 I only once had a cash problem. Perhaps my choice of weapons was better this time ;)

Btw. The speargun+electroshock most certainly helped me save money and health. Even during the battle you can take out the spears of the enemy (use freeze) and re-use them! I found this quite hilarious when battling large enemies.

Played for another hour or so and Heather said I am very close to the end. I also got all the little sisters by pure luck. I was just basically running through the game and still got all of them. I also got to level 10 in the multiplayer.

****major spoiler****
I am at the point where I just beat the 2 big sisters then watched the disturbing scene with pillow. Now I am controlling a little sister.
****End spoiler***

@ CAMARO - Best section in either game, easy :D

That bit was just... Awesome... It told you so much without even using any words.

Wow the last couple hours were really awesome in this game. I was good and saved all the little sisters. It is one heck of an ending for sure. :) I wonder how the game ends if you are evil? I still like the first Bioshock better but the ending of this one was very good. It was well worth renting and the multiplayer is actually quite fun too. 👍
