Lotus Carlton, Massive understeer with massive oversteer in one neat almost 2 ton package, what more would one want?

That indeed is a terrible handling machine. My first drive with it was a night race, online with other people.

I came last... :(

It's not, really. In real life, the Gallardo is much more balanced car and takes better advantage of the AWD system. The Murc's size & weight play against it, so driving one competitively takes practice. The understeer in the game for it is a bit exaggerated though, because if you were to floor the car mid-turn, the 70% rear bias of power would normally be enough to start kicking the tail out. In the game, it doesn't seem to simulate this all that well unless you do the opposite and lift off.

What I did, is that I threw all the torque to the rear wheels, plus I added soft sports tyres. Problem solved, it does´nt understeer at all now. Still, the Gallardo is a better car. Its true what you say, its the size and weight what pay a toll on the big Murci.

I don't know what you're talking about. I love driving my Clio.
Seriously. I bought my Clio simply to enter the All France race very early on and fell in love with it. It hugs the ground in turns. I love going flat out through the tight turns on the Madrid Circuit. The Clio is no crap car.
Now the Prius... that is a crap car. Why the hell did we "win" that? Including that turd-on-wheels but only offering one model of Caterham is some sort of sick joke. Stupid Prius.

Any GT-R...yes I know not a popular opinon lol. I don't find a GTR's understeer on entry, snap oversteer at apex, understeer on exit very sexy. Actually, I hate it.

Give me a RWD with slight oversteer the whole corner and I'm happy.

Kubelwagen.. Anyone noticed it doesn't have ANY power until the last 200 revs of every gear but the last one which is loooooooong so it doesn't get any power there either. Even fully tuned. It's a joke basically. I know it's old and it's a all terrain vehicle and what not, but it's still a crappy car and frankly i wonder what it's even doing in a *racing simulator*.....
Oh, did i mention, it's also premium for reasons unknown..

Let's add the 500F to that list.. I tried it on snow at Chamoix East, and it could not even get up a hill in first gear. Full throttle.. Didn't even spin the wheels.. 0 km/h.. Talk about going nowhere slowly?

OK well firstly GT isn't a "racing simulator" it's "the real driving simulator", hence it doesn't only have performance cars. Are you not familiar with the series at all?

And you drove an over 40 year old car with a 500cc engine and about 18bhp and it couldn't get up a hill on a snow covered rally course. And you were surprised by this? Hope you enjoy the game but you are so missing the point.

But you should be fine with most races if you find the fastest car and put every single mod on it and win the race by 10 laps, then feel like a god. Go you!

Let me add... This

I personaly love the W129 Mercs, but they are way too heavy, underpowered, super expenssive and drive like bricks on wheels. Although the SL500´s V8 roar is pure eargasm. I see Mercedes as German muscle cars. Gotta love them!

I hate to say it, but I think the LP640 is one of the worst. Not much cheaper than the SV, but a lot worse. It's almost like the rear end is off the ground all the time. The SV is brilliant though.

F40 stock is pretty horrible and I threw down for one used pretty early on. Tires and tranny change help, but the car suffers from tuuuurrrrrrbbbbbooooo laaaaaagggggggg. It's a bummer, but for a kick, take yours out without TCS or ABS . . . what a handful!!!

The Shelby Cobra race car actually ran with a 289ci motor I believe, not the 427ci beast they sold to the public.

I hate FF cars, so put me down for blacklisting all of them.

Escudo

2.9 million credits or so. I read it was really good in GT4 on all races. 1050hp and 600ish weight, I thought it'd get me past Like the Wind for b-spec.....but it does not. If the track requires any kinda top speed for a bit of distance, this Escudo only tops out at 220mph, at which point it will kick down to 206 and build back up. Every race car will pass it on straights.

Getting this delayed me getting the FGT (what I was saving for when I saw this) by 2.9 million credits. I use Bob to grind credits at 54k per 19ish minutes (before the pacth bumped it up to 108k), that was a good chunk of time on a car that was basically useless. Buy for your own reason, but don't buy it thinking it will help move you forward. There are other, much cheaper cars that are also useful for other races that will do the races the Escudo can win....based on b-spec.

Tune one properly and it won't do this.

My R34 and R35 drive like they're on rails. (With Sports Soft tires, not Racing Soft.)

I would say.... the new MINI should be on the list. It's great in the city in real life, but it just cant hold it's own in a GT game. Same situation with the old mini but it has charm to save it's butt.

There is alot of crappy cars, but its understandable, since most of them were not concieved to be fast, or to be knowned as the best car in the planet (like the Tank Car), so I have nothing against them, and don´t expect alot from them either, I just have fun with them. Or cars that we expect them to be fast, just because they were considered the best 20 years ago(like the F40)

But the "almighty Enzo," It was supposed to be the fastest Ferrari on the planet, but its not even able to beat its younger and cheaper brothers (plus a low-tech-truck-engined-american-sportscar).

That kinda contradicts itself. You forgive the F40 because it's old even though it was considered to be the best car 20 years ago. The "almighty Enzo" is also old and was considered to be the best car almost 10 years ago. It's younger, cheaper, faster brothers have 7 years of technological advances over the Enzo, they don't even make the Enzo anymore. Won't you give it another chance?=)

PS I can't wait till they bring out the F70

The Enzo has terrible understeer, but the real ones understeer as well. My FGT handles badly. It gets 'snap' oversteer inconsistently and any tuning to alleviate this problem (downforce adjustment, brake bias etc) make it much slower.

Agreed.

Racing soft helps, but it's still weird it handles worse than my 600bhp pick-up.

I had a blast driving through Eiger with a fully upgraded Elise, the one you get winning some event.

It had Racing Soft Tyres on it of course, otherwise it would suck.

Just humoring the thread, I never expected it to go up. It was however quite fun to be pushed by another car driven by a friend hehehe.

I'm still bummed that they gave the AC Cobra such poor handling. I have over 40 road tests of the real life car. There is a reason why it is one of the most successful racing cars in history.

Did you race it? The originals? They had leaf spring suspension and the griveshaft had to be cocked at an angle. The chassis flexed so bad, they had to keep putting bigger and bigger tires on it. The back of the car would lift at around 160, so they were limited to that. From what I understand, you COULD drive it fast, if you were brave. Their strength was power to weight, they accelerated like noting else at the time.

OP should make a google docs spreadsheet and let everyone update it with the black list cars they've come across

Jay Leno Tank Car:
I tried road racing it. That didn't go so well. I tried drifting it. It's too long. I tried rally racing it. It puts down so much torque it spins the tires in every gear and it's too long. The only successful venture I've had with this car is I parked it perpendicular to the end of the pit lane and blocked multiple people in the pits for a laugh.

Lanci Stratos Rally Car:
It's not so bad in the dirt, but driving it on a road course is pure futility in my opinion.

Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car:
It's not that fast. By the time you get one and dump enormous amounts of cash into it, you realize that the guy in the stock Ferrari 430 Scuderia is still faster than you will ever be.

I don't know which Nissan R390 you drove, but mine kicks ass! Great car. Did you install the fully customizable tranny? If not, the car is limited to 250kph.

I hope this can be a list of cars which are a massive waste of money which people should not buy!

I'll start:

What: Gillet Vertigo Race Car '04
Amount Wasted: ~2,000,000cr
Reason: Despite having 900+ BHP and weighing ~700kg, it is slow and handles like a shopping trolley. A bit faster than a touring car.

I agree, it's overpriced. She's fast, but doesn't handle too bad. Not great, but not bad either. Just lacking in downforce compared to other race cars. A car with that kind of w/p ratio needs LMP grade aerodynamics.

Agreed.

Racing soft helps, but it's still weird it handles worse than my 600bhp pick-up.

You need to tune your Elise up. She's a good car, just trial and error with the suspension and you'll see.

The Jay Leno Tank car. That car just doesn't do it for me. I have it in my garage and I can't sell it. Removing it from the garage seems just a waste. I don't care how iconic that thing is its just too big.

You know... I really didn´t considered how old the Enzo was... Maybe I´ll give it another chance:tup:

...and grinding I will go...
