Actually I just stay at the door so it doesn't shut itself down. That way I can run inside when there's too many of them. Of course that just works for a few minutes.

DQ
I remember the first time I got to it. Down a long stairwell, through a doorway, then a metal door slams shut behind you and all hell breaks loose. I was running around screaming shooting at everything. It was a complete ambush!

LOL What I did was sit in the entry way before the door closed and pick off the people with the magnum. Until I was out of ammo. Then run and gun FTW!!!

Black's missions are exhausting and sooo much fun. The bridge is level my favourite!

Guys I think I'm gonna get me this game as well. No matter when or how. Maybe I'll just borrow it somewhere.

Are the controles free configurable?

just got this game a week ago and i think its awesome. i wasn't really keen on it untill a mate bought it and wouldn't shut up about it so i borrowed it for the night and bought a copy the next day :)
only thing i'm not to impressed with is the number of levels. i know some of them are pretty long but one is only 20 minutes or so. i would've liked 2 or 3 more. other than that i honestly cant find anything about it i dont like.

How far through are you?

Th efirst level is the only short one (as you say around 20 minutes at most), but the rest are a good hour in length each, more if you crank up the difficulty (and the last level alone should keep you busy for a while).

Its also a game I find has great replay value, I finished it months ago, but have still hung onto it as its great if you have a bad day at work for getting all that frustration out.

👍

I think I'll rent it tomorrow from my local game store. God I got 4 games now. Should stop getting new ones but I needed something else than racing games. RE4 was good but Black... The frustration thing should be a reason to get this game as well.

How far through are you?

i've finnished it on normal, and almost on hard (having trouble with the last part of the last level)

how long does the bridge level take? i might be thinking of something else but i'm pretty sure it only took about 20 minutes both times.

I've just finished the asylum level after about 5 or 6 attempts. Those body guards right at the end are super aggresive.

I'm onto the boat yard level now (not attempted yet) How many more levels are there?

I seem to remember it taking me longer than that, but its been a while since I played the full bridge level.

That last part of the asylum level can be frustrating, I tend to camp out around the balcony area, as it gives you a room to hide in if needed (stops the little buggers getting behind you) and also makes getting the shield guys a lot easier.

I quite liked the boat-yard level, its fairly straightforward but does offer some good sniping moments.

After that one (which is quite easy) if memory serves me you only have 2 or 3 more levels, the bridge being one which I personally loved. Its stupidly straightforward (just a longer version of the bridge crossing from an earlier mission) but so much fun working your way across.

I think there's at least four levels after the boat yard one. Also I don't think you can finish the bridge level in 20 minutes, even if you rush it.

I found the best way to tackle this last bit was to run into the room, straight up to the balcony then crouch down in one of the back two corners. You can then lob granades over the edge and take out the shield blokes and pick off most of the others from a distance.

I can't believe I still haven't purchased this game. The demo was a lot of fun.

There are some good tips here, so keep them coming. I'm sure I'm going to need some strategy help with this one. Especially on the difficult areas.

I was excited about this game at first but I started seeing it's short comings like no gore and that it generally got boring after a while so I sold it.

I just picked up the Greatest Hits version of this game yesterday and I absolutely love it. I'm a big fan of FPS games, but I haven't found one on the PS2 that I really like since way back when Timesplitters 2 came out. Unfortunetely I've only had time to finish the first 2 levels so far, but I'm very happy with what I've seen so far. The graphics and sound are amazing as well, I've been playing it with surround sound, and I must say that it enhanced the game even more for me. After reading this thread, I'm really looking forward to playing some of the later levels once I get some more time to play my PS2 (damn finals week), but I'll post my impressions again when I finish the game.

If you don't already have this game, and you enjoy FPS games, get it, it's only 20 dollars now, and it's certainly worth the price of admission.

I'm probably getting towards the end now (the level after the long bridge one) - but i have to say that my favourite level so far is the 2nd one (border crossing) I've not played it with surround sound, but i can imagine that it would certainly increase the atmosphere greatly. At first i disliked the fact that you couldn't save mid level, but now i think it just makes you concentrate that little bit more. It's not one of those games you can just chuck in your PS2 for a quick half hour. You really need a good hour and a halfs worth of dedication 👍

I just finished the Asylum level, and it really was pretty incredible. It was a bit repetitive since all of the rooms looked very similar, but some parts were so intense, and blasting through the walls with the shotgun really is awesome. I really like the M16 that you find on that level too, it's really accurate and I can pick guys off with headshots really easily with it. It's a shame that this game only has 8 levels, I know I'm still going to be wanting more once I beat it.

The magnum is pretty useful too.

What about the BFG? I want to start with that gun, until I get familiar with the game. (I don't have the game yet, but will buy it when I pick up my PS3). Doesn't this gun destroy all pretty easily?

BFG? what the hell is that?

You can't use that in every stage I think, just a few. It's pretty useful in the last part of the final stage though. :)

Guys I think I'll buy this game. I need to let out my angryness and as I don't have a sandbag to punish.

Saw it in the UK for 30€ which is quite cheap.

I finally got the game. Haven't played it yet, though. I'm busy doing stuff for my son's sleepover. Plus, I got a half a million other things I need to do today.

Can't wait!

Bump

OK, finally got to play it, and I'm not all that crazy for it. It's a lot different than the demo. In a bad way.

First, the aiming speed is a lot faster, and it's too fast for me. After twenty minutes, I was feeling a little pukey. Plus, it either moves too slow, or not fast enough. Second, what's up with that stupid white dot? The demo was a lot better. Third, during the border game, how many times do those guards and soldiers need to be shot? I shot one twenty times with a silenced AK-47, and he still didn't go down! It was a distance shot, though. Sorry, that's just plain retarded. MGS3, this game ain't.

But, it's still OK, just not as great as I thought it would be. I still had fun with it, but this motion sickness I get after 20-30 minutes of playing is making me worry about the second level being an hour long. Yikes!

I started on Easy level, but it's too damn boring. No objectives to complete, either. I'm worried about the last stage, though. I've read here it's tough.

I've only started up the game twice, and both times I had to sit through the long, boring intro video. Any way to shut that off, or click past it?

After you save the game you won't need to watch the intro anymore. But you're still going to be stuck with each stage's intro before you pass them and save it.

I beat it this morning on normal. The last room was really intense, but honestly, I expected more for some reason, I tossed the grenade in to clear the bunkers, and I half expected a barrage of shield-guys or something, but nothing happened. The last level was really awesome though, I'm going to go through it w/ the silver weapons so I can get unlimited shots with the magnum, that gun is absolutely lethal!

I finished it on normal yesterday, finally. I thought it would be harder but it only took me a couple of tries. It's nice to have the silver weapons but I don't plan on playing this game for a while now, I have other games to finish first.
