Bizarre Creations are proud to announce our new racer

- BLUR -

London, UK – 19 May, 2009 – Activision Publishing (Nasdaq: ATVI) is set to revolutionise the racing genre with the debut of Bizarre Creations’ newest project, Blur™ -- the ultimate wheel-to-wheel racing action experience.

The game drops players into heart-pumping, electrified racing action with 20 cars on a track all targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint and collect intense power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more.

While controlling photo realistic cars, gamers can use offensive and defensive attacks as they battle for the lead and careen through real-world track locations ranging from L.A. and San Francisco to the streets of Hackney, UK and the treacherous roads of Barcelona, Spain.

“We did our homework and saw a huge opportunity to move beyond traditional racers and create a game completely focused on making racing ‘fun’ again,” said Martyn Chudley, creative director, Bizarre Creations. “Blur delivers a new style of racing experience for all gamers, regardless of their experience, skill or genre preferences. Everything the player does, both in their cars and with their cars, is a dramatic adrenaline rush; it’s a real blast!”

“We know that racing can be fun for everyone, and we are excited to enter this genre with a game that keeps players in the pack and combines fun with intense racing battles,” said Maria Stipp, EVP and GM of Owned Properties, Activision Publishing. “Bizarre Creations is one of the most creative studios in the industry with a rich heritage of top-rated racing games and we are excited to partner with them on Blur, which is set to break the mold of traditional racing games.”

Beyond the action-packed racing filled with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes, hair-raising jumps and fully realised damage models that provide for spectacular crashes, Blur’s narrative is presented through Bizarre’s innovative new community-based interface, reaching far beyond the game itself. This unique story-driving social network evolves dynamically as players compete in different races, make new friends, rivals and fans, and connect with other racers both in-game and in real life.

Looking beyond Blur’s single player story, gamers can engage in competitive and team-based multiplayer races with up to 20 players online, or on a single console via 4-player split-screen. Bizarre is especially excited to introduce Blur’s original social gaming experience – custom groups, where anyone can create unique multiplayer modes based on their favourite ways to play the game. These new modes are immediately shared through Blur’s social network, expanding the game in ways that are only limited by the gaming community’s creativity.

Blur is planned for release this autumn for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and the PC, and is yet to be rated by the BBFC and PEGI.

Not really excited about this at all, the fact that it's made to try and beat Burnout is pointless.

Won't be getting this.

Would be so cheezy if they used Blur's - Song 2 as the intro! :sly:

It does look slightly sus to me, too many racing games coming soon at the moment and this seems too arcadey. But if they did Project Gotham they have more than enough experience to take a good stab at it.

Robin.

Is this the new 'in thing' then, trying to make all games 'extreme' or 'gnarly'? Grrr...

I'm tempted by it just 'cause it has the Ford Supervan 3 in it.

I have received a BETA key for the multiplayer part of this game. Catch: it's for Xbox 360 only! It also includes a free 48 hours of Xbox Live GOLD.

Since I don't own an Xbox 360, the first one to respond in this thread that wants it, can have it.

I'm interested into the 48h code. A Blur code is already mine :).

Update:
I'm confused. I couldn't see keemyb's posting before.

Update2:
Ah. He's a new member and the first postings are moderated. 💡

I didn't see it before either. But he's the first one that bit, so I have a promise to keep. :) BTW, it's just one code for both the beta and the 48 hours of Xbox Live Gold.

I saw it and approved it. I just had to hope that the beta key hadn't been given away in the meantime, or else it would have been really confusing.

I sent keemyb a PM with the code. I hope he(she?) enjoys it and lets us know if Blur is any good. :)

Wow this game is just plain awesome. I had very lower expectations but ended up being hooked on it for at least 2 hours straight last night. Played several 20 player rooms with just complete chaos. The perfect way to explain this game is Mario Cart mixed with Destruction Derby Arenas and Burnout Paradise. I also heard there is an arena type mode but I am not sure how true that is. Unfortunately I think it will be a sleeper hit and if you dont play it within the first month it will probably die out . I plan to rent it for sure but it is indeed fun. The only problem I noticed is that some vehicles have a major advantage. But thats typical for a racing game.

For those that are confused. You need to enter the code into the site. Then that site will send you an e-mail with the correct code.

I am looking forward to this game. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my hands on a PS3 code yet.

I played this for several hours yesterday. Had loads of fun beating people up. Lol. Got to rank 10 twice. That only happened because shortly after I reached rank 10 the first time the game didn't want to connect to BC's server and then I lost connection to XBL. I'm not sure if that was suppose to happen or if its a bug. *shrugs* Probably won 35-50 times yesterday though. Would have a more accurate number but when it reset it wiped out my wins and everything. :(

This game sounds really great, anybody care to swap a PS3 beta code (do these exist?) for an Xbox 360 code? ;) I still have the codes for anybody that wants them BTW.

I wanted to play the beta again so I can unlock the arena mode. I guess it unlocks at level 8. That is supposed to be something like the arena in Destruction Derby Arenas.

I wondered what that was. Damn that sounds like fun. Only problem is I only have one 48hr code left and I was wanting to save it.

Well, I might be able to help, I received another 3 redemption codes yesterday. :) Each code gives access to another 48h of XBL Gold and a token to download the beta.

Here is a code that you can put right into the guide button redeem code area. You dont even need to go to the site for this one. GJHMV-FFX8H-X28YY-8GM9J-W8F68

Here are 3 more codes.

Looks like I have a beta code for Blur and 48 hour Live Gold, as well.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

They better get a PS3 beta going, I don't have XBL gold....and the only way I can connect to the internet through my 360 is through an ethernet cable....

I've spent the day playing this and it's highly addictive, I can see this easily being a hidden gem of gaming if the multiplayer numbers stay fairly high and I don't see why not when it's this much fun. I've raced a total of 2 1/2 hours and sit at rank 12 of the currently available 15. The controls are easy, the gameplay is great, it reminds me greatly of Mario Kart and S.C.A.R.S. which are both fantastic.
