are you forgetting its a Homage?

any M1 remake without double badging would be ridiculous

No, I am not forgetting. I am re-affirming that it looks terrible.

That design needs a lot of refinement before production begins. A LOT

a mid engined BMW is going to be huge in the motorsport world

^ I'm with you on that!

Yuck!

I'm actually liking the Hommage more than the original.

They're gonnna make it...?

Eric and Vanishing boy, you crackheads.

Meh, I was waiting for a BMW supercar, but they could do better. Then again, the one's I've designed don't look notably better.

Are they building that or a mid engined supercar? It looks pretty good for a concept car, but not so much for a production car. They have a little work to do before that is something I would get myself to drive on the street and not not just have on some rotating stand in my garage.

Wow, I can't believe they're going ahead and building it. Sweet. :) If it turns out well, this could eclipse the R8 as my favorite modern mid-engined car.

What? I had just realized that I needed to change my shorts.

:D

Wait...when did they say they were selling something like this?

Photochop of an R8 with bits taken from the M3 and M6. Convincing, but fake.

Ask yourself, "self, why would a mid-engined car require a powerdome and air inlets on the hood?" :dunce:

M

I would rather have the R8... or better yet the much faster GT-R or Z06... Or maybe the ZR-1 or V-Spec if BMW makes the prices twice as high as it should be. Stupid badge.

I really just don't like the way BMW's designs have gone latley.

What saddens me is that this gives BMW a perfectly flimsy pretext to build the Nazca, but they will build the silly Pontiac instead.

I'm really glad that photo YSSMAN posted is fake. The production version better maintain the tall tail and shark nose of the Homage. The side profile of the concept is gorgeous.

I'd like to see them go with similarly-shaped taillights and keep the hooded headlights, too. Positively badass. 👍

Compared to the original shots which made the car look like a crayola design, this "prototype" car seems to have fallen back into line with it's other BMW brethren and actually come out looking alright. I'm not 100% convinced yet, but if this is the car to come blazing up our roads I won't be disappointed now. :)

And yes I know it's photoshopped, this guy should have Bangle's job because this car is getting better to look at again and again!!

I was actually rather disappointed to find out it was a fake...it's akin to finding out your favorite actress has had some "Work Done." Kind of.

Except that Bangle didn't even design the M1 Homage, and has moved to another department of BMW.

He didn't design it but he DID approve it as we previously discussed. ;)

Jim, I agree with ya there, but what actress HASN'T had work done these days?? They're like show cars, all done up for eye appeal. 👍

Thread updated. The plans have been canceled for a production car. BMW is investing in greener technology instead.

blargh. It's the '70s with nicer interiors and less rust.

No great loss, 'twas an ugly concept anyhow.

Does this mean that two-mode hybrids are "the ultimate driving machines" now?

Pass the torch to the Prius!

Meh, its not a major loss. Considering that the M3 and M6 are awesome enough in their own right (more awesome going to the M3), I'm not about to complain.
