So today was the first time I saw an official statement from BMW with regards to numbers of this car.

From a press release by BMW prior to the car being shown at Legends of the Autobahn Concours D’Elegance in Monterey next week..

"A total of six cars were completed before the program was terminated. Three of those were engineering development cars that were later recycled. Three production level examples were produced and these survive to this day as part of the BMW Group Classic collection"
