So I win this car in Extreme Hall and try it out and it seems slower than the BMW V12 LMR I used to win the race.

Is anyone using this car with any success against the other supercars out there?

I tired running LaSarthe in the Extreme Hall in this car it but it felt like it couldn't compete with the R92's, 787B's, Bentleys, etc.

I haven't gotten the ar yet, so I don't know. But does anyone know if the Jaguar for 50% completion can compete in the GT World Championship at stock condition?

Your best bet is the Nissan r 92 cp or the Toyota Minolta the Audi R8 is great for the technical tracks

It makes sense that it can't keep up, it isn't an LMP (LeMans Prototype), it would be like GTS class or something.

Yeah, the Mclaren F1 should be way slower, its not even an LMP, the V12 LMR is way out of its league...

Those are much more powerful and quicker LMP900 cars, the Mac F1 GTR is an GT1 class car like the Merc CLK-GTR or a Porsche 911 GT1 :)

I already know about those, but I want to try the Jag first, since it's my first LMP (assuming that it is an LMP).

Man, we'll that's a bit disappointing that the car I won can't even keep pace in the very same series.

Has anyone noticed that in a lot of championship series you get a car as a prize that can't compete in the series you just won?

Example: GT Pro World's has a prize car of the Ford GT-40 LM Spec II but that very same car will not be competitive in the same series.

Don't you think that the prize should reflect the races?

The worst is the ones where you win the same exact car that you competed with. For example in the Aston Martin one make race I used a DB9 and won a DB9. The DB9 was the cheapest car for that competition.

I agree.

I'm a huge McLaren F1 fan. But get this. I've had it for like 3 weeks and havent even touched it bc its not competitive in the races Im doing.

Go figure. I couldnt wait to get it. I got it. I decided to save it for a race. I still havent used it. Youve inspired me to go try it right now though! :)

But yeah... why would I want to win a car that wont help me out in the next series... sometimes it does if its good for a manufacturers cup or something... but the ford gt spec II example is a good one... you could pretty much do without it. Give me a GT-One of something along those lines for god's sake.

Yeah, a lot of people have problems with the Pro Worlds. Why don't we at least get the R92C or something else like it for winning it. It took me a few days to win that championship.

But I did take the Ford GT-40 I won and dominated the American GT with it.

Back on topic: I think I'm going to keep playing around with the Mclaren F1 and see if I can make it competitive.

Does anyone know about the Jag LMP? btw, it is (I think) the XJR-9 Race Car '88.

Not really. A guy posted a thread in "Tunings" about it:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=59577

Curious, I bought one last night and gave it a pretty thorough test. Like I said in my reply, it feels "drifty". The rear end keeps coming around on me. It's nicely progressive and controllable, but of course you can't make good laps doing that. Perhaps we'll figure out a way to tune that out, but in stock form its a problem.

As I said, it feels like the car's very low wing just isn't generating enough downforce.

Otherwise it handles well, has great brakes and pretty good power, and is nice to drive. However, there are definitely better cars to spend your millions on: The Audi R8 and the two Pescarolos will both manage laps several seconds quicker than the Jag (which is also hindered by a tire wear problem). I don't have the C9, 88C-V, or R92C yet, but I sure can beat them with the R8 and the Peskies.

Its really hard to say that the LMP cars are better than these older GT1 cars.

GT1-GTQ cars are classes no longer around. Today, a GT2 car is your typical GTS car, and a GT3 car is a GT car. GT1 cars were the LMP back in the '90s.

GT1 cars of course aren't really as fast as today's LMPs. They aren't as built around technology as today.

Every year, or a guaranteed every decade, racing technology becomes more advanced, which means race cars are only going to get faster. In 2020, we might have cars faster than today's Speed 8, R8, and more.

So we have to wait until then before Audi stops winning LeMans?! :dopey:

And, come to think of it, why aren't the dominating McLaren F1 GTR's from 1995 in the game? Weren't they run under BMW's racing program too? The 1997 version in the game is good but I'd like some choice at least.

From what I can tell, the '95 winner is in Enthusia if you are interested. But I agree, I think more games including GT4 shoud include more of these older ersions.

I agree the older Mclarens should be in especially the Gulf sponsorder version.

That IMO is the best looking one aswell!

And i thought they were the coolest thing when i was a kid!:banghead:

No doubt. I dislike the long-tail race version. I think it's just plain ugly. Gimme the early "street" version any day.

There is a street version of the GTR Longtail.
Its the GT. But not that anyone here or on Earth will ever own it for themselves.

The F1 and F1 LM are good. But I still hate to see that people still don't know why the LM was made and why there are only 5.

But I won't explain.

It is going to be very difficult to beat these true racing machines (Minolta, Jaguar, Pescarolo, etc) with the F1 GTR.........for the mere fact that the torque of the JGTC, LM and GTR racers is not that of the Formula racers or these other racers(yes, they even encorporated true'ish torque ft/lb).
You can use uber turbo on the Bimmer (which gives it 800+ horses with a stage 4 turbo) but remember.........they take away a few ponies when you enter a race!!

Don't forget the Pescarolo Courage C60.......................I have demolished the competition in every extreme and endurance race I could enter it in!!!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Awww, its dissapointing to hear how that McLaren F1 Fina isn't very good compared to the other cars. :( It saddens me when I hear it here and many times on Gamefaqs of how the car is a dissapointment. I haven't got the car yet, but could anyone mind to tell me what the Fina lacks compared to those Lemans car? :odd: :O

The Jaguar XJR-9 is a great racer right out of the box, so to speak!! I cheated a bit and added the stage 4 turbo and upped the ponies to 1097 (but I did beat the Minolta racer with the Jaguar and didn't use the added horse power).
If your gonna up the horsepower you need to tweak the tranny and suspension............I always lower the ride height (if it can be lowerd more) and then adjust the shocks and springs (the lower the ride the harder the shock and usually with these racers, the rear shocks are less hard than the front). You also need to adjust the camper angles to give you more turn (inertia says the faster you go forward the more you will tend to keep that momentum even if you need to turn). Increasing the camper and toe by 1-2 degrees will help mucho!!
I reduce my gear ratio yet increase 6th gear to give me max speed on the long straight aways (If racing on the Sarthe then use the max gear ratio provided, I think it is 25).

A couple of tricks I find useful to win the extreme races is to not be concerned with being in first position the whole race (if that is the case then use qualifing to gain pole position). I like lagging between 2nd and 3rd for a few laps until I get used to the track, then with a couple of laps left I eat em up!!
The second trick is to use medium tires up front and hard tires in rear..............you will not need to pit where as all the other cars will pit on either 3rd or 2nd to last lap (by this time you should have an already marginal lead and may even lap the second placer!!!)!

I haven't gotten it myself, but I imagine it's a beast at least on the test course. If not, then there's definitely something wrong.

Well, if you have time and the desire, you can either explain it to me in a short PM or send a link to some info on it. I just like the original $1M street version. I've always liked it, and sometimes I've had lottery fantasies about the pearl orange one with black wheels. I thought I saw something on TV about it a few years ago that said if you bought one used (lol at that), McLaren would take it to the factory, completely refurb it, and change the color to anything you wanted, although I'm sure it was for a price. Of course, if you can afford $1M for a USED car, then you aren't worried about the price. Fascinating cars, I just think the longtail reminds me of the rear end ugly S7.
