For me I have a major problem with the new VGT at night, as the headlights don't illuminate the road, but only the surrounding objects (Walls, fences, people, etc.) I just finished up the Nurburgring 24M, but I had to basically drive lap 2 (The lap in total darkness) in 6th gear just slowly pacing along trying to stay on track.

This is a major issue for a car like this. If there was a competition for dropping balls, PD would have won gold long ago.

It's the same problem with some cars in the game, worsened by the terrible lighting effects.

I've yet to try the BMW VGT at night but it is disappointing to hear this. The Audi R18 TDI is dreadful for this. LeMans at night is extra challenging compared to the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP for example.

The car might as have no headlights with the light they gave off. If it wasn't for a slower ai car coming along to light the track, I'd have never finished.

I just tried the 24m Nurburgring with the BMW VGT and in the dark it's awful. It is impossible to race actually. The barriers and trees are lit up but nothing else. How content is deemed suitable for release in such a state is beyond me.

This issue aside the BMW VGT is fantastic!

I have experienced the exact some problem. I ran the Nurburgring 24M and had the same issue. I used only 6th gear on the 2nd lap (also saved me from having to fill up during the race!). The funny thing is that it lights up the track edge (such as the track barrier, bridges and tree's), but the track itself (surface, strips and grass) is pitch black. PD need to fix this!

This I believe was a problem with the Mercedes VGT a while ago, and possibly a number of other cars. Sadly, it appears to have resurfaced. :indiff:

Fully modelled solar system - Check
Candles in jamjars for headlights on loads of cars - Check

Ruins any thought of doing a night race with the hud off.

Yep, was just racing the 'ring 24hour with the BMW VGT, hopeless...... By the 2nd lap you cannot see thing making it pretty much impossible to complete the with car.

??

I found out (before 1.07 that is) the others cars don't light up a thing.
First time I encountered the problem (pretty much my own fault because the Monster Pike Peak does not have headlights to begin with), I waited for other cars, thinking their headlights could guide me around.
The only thing I could see were their tail lights, I let them all pass, and none of these cars lighted the track...
