BMW Z4 GT3

Well, just out of curiosity I stuck some RS tyres on the STOCK Z4 GT3 and went to the 'Ring GP/F (A track I really don't know that well - I think in GT6 so far I've only done the M4 seasonal there, and that's it) ABS-1, all other aids off, grip-real.

Like I say, it was stock so I was never going to get the low 1:50's/high 1:40's! I just wanted to check the handling difference between RH and RS.

And,

Handles better than on on RH (Predictably enough). The only conditions for oversteer were either hitting too much curb, or standing on the throttle at totally inappropriate moments, I didn't try to push at 120% or anything - but it felt like understeer was a bigger problem to be honest.

Anyhow, did 6 laps, and just for the sake of transparency,

L1- 2:00.8xx
L2- Spin (turn 1, took way to much curb)
L3- 2:00.6xx
L4- 2:00.2xx
L5- Spin (Dunlop Curver - nailed the accelerator as soon as It had settled on turn in just to see, even if the tail had have stuck, I'd have understeered off before the exit!)
L6- 1:59.8xx

I wonder if in search of "Cheating the system as much as he can" the OP just has a bad set-up or the wrong modifications.

edit:

Also, just did one two laps at Brands GP and was 2.883 seconds faster than my 'best of 5 laps time on RHs', thanks to RS tyres.

The Z4 is sooo much more stable under braking with RS's

I tried it stock first of course. Pushing it hard I found the same problems. My tuning attempts made it better. But nothing I did made the car a good drive while hotlapping. You spun twice at what I would say is borderline coasting around the corners. Put front downforce at full and rear downforce anywhere from 600-700. It will probably get more erratic is my guess. Let me know.

No I have barely driven anything except Street cars at the ring on sport softs. I'm going to try the tunes everyone posted when I get home today or tomorrow but keep in mind I'll be fitting racing softs onto the car so I expect most of the racing hard tunes to be out of wack. And again, I'm only using racing softs because that is what's common in online lobbies.. I rarely find proper racing hard restricted rooms. I'll try it and write up my basic initial thoughts as soon as I get a chance.

Two posts above me. You aren't pushing it hard enough or you aren't on racing softs (unless you happen to be amazing at this game far beyond my capabilities) . To the poster directly above me. You drove it on racing hards, not softs. I have stated multiple times it's not that bad on hards. And after stating it multiple times, I'm amazed people are still telling me it's easy to drive, or it handles fine! If you aren't using racing softs, you aren't going to notice what I'm talking about. If you aren't pushing the car hard enough, you aren't going to notice what I'm talking about. Now that being said... Take the car to Nurburgring GP/F on racing softs. Run it at 552 hp/1250 kg's. Tire wear on, grip set to real. All aids off except Abs. Try and get it into the 1:52's or 1:51's on a consistent basis (at least 3 laps in a row) just so I know your actually racing and not taking a Sunday drive around the corners :) anyway do that and tell me the car is "easy"
to drive. I'm well aware the car can probably get into the high 40's with an alien driver but that isn't the argument I am posing. Just how stupid it drives when you go at least THAT fast. And then..... If you so happen to be a slightly above average driver like myself and manage to do so and think it's "easy"
to drive, please please please post this magical setup you are using.

I never said it was "easy" to drive and I don't use racing soft tires, ever.

I'm not the greatest driver but I'm not crap either. I gave my opinion of the car, and what I did to get the most out of it, and suggested tuning the car to your needs/wants, take or leave it.

Hadn't noticed it being that bad, but I typically prefer the M3 GT. Might give it a whirl tonight.

Having now driven the Lambo GT2, pretty much everything else feels like it's on rails :D

Haha agreed. The Lambo is horrible which is a shame because I was so excited to drive it

I was generalizing with my reply don't take it as a stab at you. However my exasperation comes from the experience of driving the
car with racing softs. It's a completely different animal, in a bad way.

IMO RM's are about the best tires in the game. I can get realistic grip levels with them. Decent lap counts with them, and little to no tire squeal while driving in straight lines...

I think the answer to this conundrum with the BMW GT3 lies in PD's physics progamming, specifically the transition from grip to little or no grip. Much of the behaviour described here like a little entry understeer, then the front end grips and it's massive oversteer, also happens on street tires, just not as drastically and it's much more controllable. With the massive grip in Racing Softs, when that transition occurs, it's more difficult to catch if you aren't driving with a lot of precision, and maybe impossible for some of us. If you can control this transition most of the time, good for you and you'll be posting saying the car is great, the car is wonderful etc. If you can't control this transition, you are going to struggle with it.
