Hello,
After an outstanding competition in the Board Challenge 2 , it's time to think about the 3rd edition ! As of now, there's only the basics, the timing and the sign up. The rules will be added later.
How to take part
You need to have a board with either a Gran Turismo section or with a lot of talk about this game. Each board should indicate a captain + a substitute and they have to create a team of 10 drivers (captain and substitute can also run).
As in the BC2, the races will all be verified with an Xport/Sharkport/... replay file, so each driver without this equipment should be ready to send his memory card to someone who owns one.
Driving
As in BC2, the driver must be as clean as possible. But, to avoid frustration, there won't be any DQ except under extreme driving and/or cheating; penalties will be added to the total time; this will be fixed later in the final rules.
Races
Each board/team need to provide 3 races
- 1 Road Race
- 1 Wet Race
- 1 Rally Race
Limitation :
- Between 1 to 5 laps (see below for tyre damage)
- No licence, time trial, one shots race (only one try to do his time)
- Arcade Mode : either Free Run (hotlap only) or Single Race (with difficulty level normal to hard and racing/drift); GT Mode can be used so it can be possible to have races with tyre damage and 5 laps or less, but without qualifying lap.
- Avoid dealing with the IA as much as possible by providing a car/track who either will be stronger or largely weaker than the adversaries
- Please, test your race's propositions before submitting them
Details :
- Car; if fixed class, stock, tuned.
- Track (normal, reverse)
- Race mode, difficulty, name of the race if GT Mode
- Number of laps (just to confirm...)
- Restrictions (tuning, tyres, ASM/TCS on/off, ...)
Please, provide as much details as possible.
There will be 10 races (7 "road track", 2 "rally track" and 1 "wet") that will be randomly taken within all the team's propositions (even if there's more or less than 10 teams).
That's one driver (by team) for one race; it's the job of the team to assign one driver to one race and when finished, provide the list to the admins of the BC3.
Schedule
1 oct. 2003 : Sign-up, Race proposition and Driver
6 oct. 2003 : Draw of the 10 Races, driver assignment and competition start
Race deadline :
1. 15 oct. 2003
2. 16 oct. 2003
3. 17 oct. 2003
4. 18 oct. 2003
5. 19 oct. 2003
6. 20 oct. 2003
7. 21 oct. 2003
8. 22 oct. 2003
9. 23 oct. 2003
10. 24 oct. 2003
That means that the driver assigned to race no 1 has from the 6. to the 15. october (~9 days) to do is run and submit it. And the driver assigned to race no 10 will have from the 6. to the 24. october (~18 days) to run and submit.
The correct hour of the day will be fixed later. It will be in the area of the BC2 (about 20h00 European time)
Signup and communication
The official email address for the BC3 is
bc3admin@lecoyote.net
There, the captain can send the signup, the name of the team, his substitute, list of drivers and races when ready.
All "public" discussion will be held at
http://www.lecoyote.net/gtweb/forum/ in the Board Challenge 3 section
Even if it's a french website, the official language will be english !
There will be a hidden section only for captain/substitute for private discussion with BC3 admins.
You'll need to subscribe to post a message, the board is in french, but it can be changed in english in the profile. As this is a PHPBB forum, hopefully everyone knows how to use it.
The rest (Race admin, final rules, verification, time submitting, ...) will follow as soon as possible.
Good Luck
BC3 Admins
From everything I've read so far, It looks like because the races will be no more than 5 laps, only 100% clean, verified(sharkport,X-port) runs will count.
I'm trying to get a team rounded up over at The "Numbers" so come on guys. Lets not finish at the bottom again.
