Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

Very Simple: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO AND NO.

You want street cars? Get back to your stupid NFS Game.
Bye!

Ummm... I take it you have actually played NFS? If you had, you'd know you can in fact totally tune up a car without tricking up it's exterior in any way... and uh, NFS has NOS too, before GT4. (licensed, too)

Which is my point. YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU DO TO THE CAR.

Can you in GT4? Really? Win a car. Try changing the paintjob. Gimme a call when you succeed...

Do you, by the same token (this also applies to everyone else who nixed it) object to licensed wheel rims in the GT series? Oh no, it's not stock! Burn ye in hell for using them! I think not... so what's the difference, exactly?

I take it also you'd never sully your hands driving any car in the tuner village either. even though some of them specifically say STREET RACING cars..? (S2000 anyone?)

Well, that's your choice, and your loss. Me, I like maximum choice. Don't like tuning cars? You don't have to! But the next time you whack an unlicensed, "it's a turbo upgrade but not calibrated, no dyno testing, no way to alter the boost pressure settings, no idea who made it or even if it's at all realistic!" on your car, think about what PD COULD do, if only they'd make the effort... there's a lot more to NFS than YOU obviously realise, in that regard!

Me, I still think the tuning in the GT series is weak. Sorry if that upsets fanboys like you, but y'know what? No game is perfect. It can be improved. It should be.

And to answer a question elsewhere, why does it not matter if the NOS is wet or dryshot? Power, performance and realism. Ever gone into a showroom and asked for "a car?" Not stating what type, what performance, or anything? No? Then why accept it in a part for the car?

I'd also point out there are already non standard paintjobs (pearlescent speed 12 for example) wings, rims, carbon fibre hoods and bodies (Carbon R34) street racing cars AND body kitted to the max cars already IN GT... (the body modded car? Suzuki Escudo. Could you GET more wing and spoiler on a car?!) so exactly what are you going on about? I'm talking a natural progression of the game... improving and adding to the options available for your car.

And uh, what do you think Las Vegas dragstrip is for, if not showing off your ride? Your car seems to gain about 300% more shine on it... almost like say... a street racing style of game!
EDIT: I thought the Vegas strip was useless!

Yup, your argument won ME over. Yup. *laughs*

NUFF SAID. FTB.

I didn't read the whole thing, but 👍

I just wish I could use the "255" coloring system to paint cars and wheels, be so much more unique.
Wheels on standards would be neat too... but then standards still look like pure crap.

Besides from all the modding and crap, I'm tending to buy more Premium cars then Standards. Just seems much "more fun"

I haven't trollled through the 60 odd pages on this thread but.
Has anyone noticed there's no brake upgrade?
Also old cars with no CAT on them now have?

Cat - Did it gain the car some hp?
Maybe it was an implied better piping design?

1.5" downpipe vs 2.5" sport cat downpipe?

maybe such things were assumed?

who knows, can't always look at the small things.

Here are a few of my modded cars.

The guy sat down in the vest amongst the crowd looks very similar to the photographer in FM3. Wonder if there's a stock set of characters they've both used, rather than model them themselves?

I'm ashamed I've ever been a GT fanboy, I see now how childish and sad this all is, they will defend at all cost, if GT6 is literally Forza1 they will defend it... sigh.

If I had to choose between Zuel's black GT-R R35 and Kim Kardashian I'd have a hard choice.

Overall, I'm not that impressed by the customisation options in GT5. In fact, I'm a bit disappointed. But that didn't bother me with GT4. If Sony weren't so obsessed with 3D, if this stupid head-tracking feature wasn't included, and if GT PSP was just a figment of someone's imagination rather than reality, I'd like to think that customisation would be much more detailed in GT5.

Okay, was I the only one who felt as though PD had missed a chance to give an awful lot of street racing games a good hammering?

Take a look at GT4... we got NOS (a la NFS) but no licensed company supplying it, and only one type... was it wet shot, dry shot... it doesn't tell you..!

We got tuner cars, but... pre tuned bodies. hardly any customising in the tuner village (new suspension and turbo, whoo-hoo) and you can't give them a custom paintjob either (pearlescent paint, anyone?)

We got licensed rims, but and wings you can add on, but, they're not licensed... and it's hardly a breathtaking variation in styles, is it. And a choice of 3 colours. Gee, thanks, as I strap a BLACK wing onto my BLUE car... yeuch!

You can tune up the power of the car to outragious numbers, but your car still looks lik a family runabout?! I mean that's nice if you WANT it to... but c'mon, wouldn't you love to body body something in the game?!

Imagine being able to do that to ANY car in the game! Licensed tuners who tune your cars power like no other tuner does. Actual decals on your car when you choose them as a tuner! Taking your beat up used car, and playing with wings, grills, lights, neons, darkened glass, paint, custom paintjobs, custom tuning and NOS, until your ride frightens the AI into crashing at every corner!

Imagine street racing cars with GT5 PS3 graphics... designed by YOU.

Now... who wouldn't want that? And if you don't... you could play the game without too... just as you do now... *wry grin*

Later - FTB.

Hey man I completely understand your talent and loving on tuning

But the game isn't the older GT's anymore

It's the pinnacle of driving simulation now

The car will have it's own "simulation" to
Make it clear the car will have it's own style and feel because then again this is the real driving simulator

You cannot just expect or demand most things to be tuned by your brain in a driving simulator you are not the manufacturer

Driving Simulator : A car will be made by it's own not by your brain.

Although some added tunings would be very appropriate but you still have to think very deeply.

Like the brakes it should and can be proved

But by the name of driving simulation

The real car's level of braking capability will still be the same but improved.

So it's basically like the car's brakes are still the same in performance but improved.

This is how you should think about tuning in a real driving simulator.

One of the inappropriate tunings I've heard of is the gear ratio all custom
I'm sorry this is a "driving simulator" not "your simulator"

1. Not everyone is a mechanic specialist.
2. Being original basically means your playing "that car" not "your car".
3. It's not just the top speed it's also how the gears get through.
4. If you want to be a mechanic go to mechanic school.
5. A recap of #2 that car your driving is not the car you made.

Lastly

6. It's a sure 99% probability that this has already been made decisions of off the main simulation developers

7. This is the pinnacle of driving simulation do not expect gear ratios to be made by your brain. A car will have it's own.

8. Your not the car manufacturer.

9. Wanna customize your own rationality?? Get forza

where are the stage 4 turbos???????where are the intercoolers???????where did the NOS go?!?!?! PD HAVE FAILED US!!! and what happened to Tourist Trophy being part of GT5????

[rubbish redacted]

It's virtually the same game with less features, and this is probably one of the WORST excuses for the lack of customization that I've ever heard.

And by the way, if you hit a wall, or another car at 100 mph (ANYTIME, and not "when you get to a higher level or with a certain car") and you're still able to drive without any problems, the game is hardly a sim.

I have never read a post that made less grammatical sense than this one.

Oh and many, many cars in real life have adjustable gear-ratios...particularly race cars. Yes, let's run the same ratio set for Monza as we would for Monaco (both tracks that are in the game!).

And wasn't this option in GT4? It's been so long since I've played but I distinctly remember tuning (and in most cases screwing up) the gear ratios on a few of my cars. I have no idea how any of it works but I gave it a shot and actually lowered my top speed somehow.

Seriously?

I read some ridiculous comments since it came out, that's right up there.

What? I was just looking at the crowd and wonder if there's a middleware set of characters that both companies have used. Not a complaint, not a comparison, just a straight up observation.

💡 WOW ...Can anyone please e-mail this to PD/SONY and KAZ.
WELL SAID...VERY WELL SAID. 💡

i know wot you mean about the body custmization, i dont like have you cant change the size of the wheels and how little there is for the bodywork wich is a shame as i am a drifter n you got to have a good boy n some nice decals with some ****in amazing rims

But no English skills, amirite?

i think this guy has a point. i would love the option. Honestly look @ forza (for Xbox) i freeking enjoyed customization, decals may not add anything in terms of performance, but a personalised car gives u a sense of pride. im not saying a game needs this but it it doesnt have it, (where others do) it falls short. this game was s'posed to "exceed my expectations" due to its delays. im pissed cockpit views are limited i have to UNLOCK PAINT, I CANT EVEN PAINT MY CAR. damn i was hoping GT% wld put forza to shame. but right now im thinking about an XBox. Gt5 is stil a good game. but it was s'posed to be the best.

i was thinking the exact same thing, and a better game for customization is shift 2, which is by no means a bad game, except that the nurburgring is horrific, but thats made up for by spa
