Had them. Don't wear my retainer. Teeth go back to normal. 'nuff said.

Had them, got them of just before chirstmas, I have to wear a plate at night until my top wisdom teeth come down; My lower wisdom teeth have already erupted.

If do get them, my dentist recommends I get these invisoline ones. I'd have to switch them every so often.

There isn't an exact date or length.

Right now, its about 50/50 if I get them or not. So I haven't really thought about yet.

Sounds like an pain in the butt. I'm glad I never had to deal with them.

I had them 2nd-4th grade or so. Then had a retainer for another couple years. Actually wore it once in a while, and my teeth are still decent. They weren't all that much of a problem, they only really bother you when you first get them on and when they get tightened. I know people with braces here in 12th grade, and it doesn't seem to bother them too much, either. I suppose you get used to it.

I had them for 2 1/2 years. I got them first time 9 days before Christmas! My teeth hurt so I couldn't eat the stuff I normaly would eg, crisps, toffee bars, ex. At first I had a plate at the top of my mouth which hurt me, you had to eat with it in and take it out when you cleaned your teeth. It was disgusting trying to get the food out of it.

After about a year I got proper braces (tracks) and had them top and bottom. Every 2-3 months I had to go back to the orthadontist (however you spell it) to get a tighter one fitted, which REALLY hurt my teeth. It got so bad once I couldn't eat bread, I lived on milk and yougart. :D

When my brace was taken off it was really wierd because I've not felt my teeth for 2 1/2 years. Problem was there was some kind of glue put on my teeth to keep the brace on. To me the worse experience was trying to get it off. Some knid of drill was put into my mouth and because my teeth were sensitive, they hurt quite a bit.

In the end it was all worth it because when I looked in the mirror my teeth were perfect! All this might sound awful but it is worth it in the end if you are patient and can take pain. :D

Hopefully I'll attract more girls now...

Don't want them. I know I maybe should, but noone complains, and as far as I know, I don't get laughed at about my teeth.

Plus, I go to a public school. You're an outsider if your teeth are normal.

Had them, and would do it again. I look at older pictures of me and am very glad that I suffered through 3 years of braces.

Yep. Had em from 7th to 11th grade. Really sucked. I'm actually still wearing the retainers at night after 3 or so years.

Edit: sUn, just to tell you, you wont be able to eat jack **** after you get your braces. Because since your teeth are getting used to the braces. Your teeth will be very sore for the 3 weeks, and for the course of the treatment, your gums will be puffy and will bleed almost everytime when you brush your teeth.

How long do you expect to have them?

I still wear retainers. Every night for a whole year. I think it's been 3 months. They have a crack in them but I'm not paying £80 for a new pair.

I'm getting them for 2 years, 1 year into the treatment I get 1 tooth one each side of my top teeth removed to correct my overbite, for one more year I wear braces. Then I get them off.

My top jaw bite pattern was like this-

So I'm happy I had them, but I still have a back brace but its invisible and I wear a top and bottom retainer every few nights. No biggy.

My brother has them. I told my parents there is no way I am never gonna get them. Wearing them around is no problem its just when they put it on and take it off! :scared:

Have them right now, and I've had them before. Well worth it – they're not annoying in the least bit (I just got rubber bands though, the kind that connect the top canine teeth to the lower ones, which are somewhat annoying), and I really needed them. Some of my teeth were practically sideways before I got braces, but now everything's straight. I even needed an expander to crack the roof of my mouth open to help make room for my teeth.

You're a freak of nature Sage.

What's the best food to eat for first while that you have the braces. I don't have a clue of what I should eat and stuff.

I have school 4 days after I get my braces. :(

My teeth were mega screwed so I had them.

You can eat lots, just hard things (crisps (potato chips) are generally ok) and chewy/sticky things are avoidable. I never chewed gum so I didn't have a problem.

Slowly munch your way through a sandwich with chocolate spread or something soft in it. Chocolate bars are O.K if you break them up in your hand then suck on them. What ever you do DONT bite into them or chew otherwise it hurts like hell. Yougart and mash potato (not recommended for school) is very handy as well. I might have had other things as well but I cant remember.

Like the brace people say don't eat sweets. One or two chocolate bars wont hurt but if I'm hungry I can't help it! :D

On better days when you teeth don't hurt so my you can eat crisps and things not too hard but for the first few days you get the braces I'm warning you they WILL hurt. After a while (a few months) you start to get used to the pain so you can experiment at how you can eat hard food while you teeth are hurting. That's what I did anyway. :)

I don't think it takes even a month to get used to them. I'd give up anything hard the first week or so, but by the second or third week sandwiches, pizza, stuff like that shouldn't be a problem. After you get used to them, it won't hurt except right after getting them tightened. Every time they get tightened, it'll hurt for a day or two, but not so bad. They'll need to be tightened a lot in the beginning, but as you go the trips to the orthodontist will get further apart (and shorter). Personally, I'm pretty glad that I got braces and straight teeth. I'm even more glad that I got them back when I was 7 and didn't have to pull any teeth :)

You know, alot of orthodontists say you shouldn't chew gum...Thats a lie. At least to me, I used to chew almost all types of gum with one or two exceptions. Such as double bubble.
