Hi,i just signed in.I'm from Rio de Janeiro,Brazil.I'm a big fan of the Gran Turismo series (I have 1,2 and 3,and i'm looking for the Concept versions).

Anyway, with all this talk about GT4,i wanted to know if you think The Brazilian V8 Stock Cars would be a great addition to it.

All cars uses a V8 engine, the same used on Nascar, but toned down to 550HP.The Body of the cars is based on the Chevrolet Vectra, but it's a real race car, with Tubular Chassis similar to the used on V8 Stars

Well here are the pics...i'll put more technical specifications later

But i want to know what you think about them.Post your opinions

Nice formula! Are they all Vectras?

I love that rear wheel bulge!

Yes the Bodies are all based on Vectra...but as you can see,it's modified a lot :p

There is a project for the addition of a new based bodie: Ford Focus Sedan...But it depends on the Aproval and Suport of Ford of Brazil.

This Championship uses some tracks you know... Interlagos (You know it from F1),Jacarepaguá (Moto GP),Jacarepaguá Oval (Was used for CART).

It's a bit disturing seeing all those Vectras - we used to have one.

What do the cars weigh?

Actually it's not...the championship is very competitive...Last race at Interlagos (Round 3),one driver that started on 21st position ended up n 5th... All Races have more than 30 cars on the grid

You are from England? You had Vectra Challenge, right? One driver that competes on Brazilian V8's participated on Vectra Challenge and BTCC... His name is Flávio "Nonô" Figueiredo.

We have other famous drivers like Gualter Salles (Indy Lights,Cart,ALMS),Raul Boesel (Cart,IRL), Tiago Marques (younger brother of Tarso Marques.Way better driver than his old brother, who use to drive for not so good F1 Teams)

Here are some technical specs:

Suspension - Independent in the four wheels, Superior and inferior triangles constructed in steel tubes. Regulable front and back Stabilizing bars on inside of the car

Wheels - 10,5 x 18 pol.

Tires - Front 265/45 R18, Back 285/45 R18

Weight - 1.150 kg

Brakes - ventilated discs, special competition clamps, with six pistons in front and four in the back, specially developed by the Cobreq.

Fuel Tank - Special for competition, Americans, composition of rubber container filled with foam of high density and aluminum container provided with safety valves also for the case of big crashes. Capacity: 85 liters

Chassis - Tubular, constructed in cromomolibidenium steel, plates of steel, aluminum plates and anti-fire covering.Similar to the used on V8 Stars.

Body - Constructed in strengthened fiber glass. It's like V8 Stars and DTM.

Engine - V8, 5,700 c.c. (5,7 liters), 550 HP of power, 7,000 rpm,
feeding of fuel by carburetor, aluminum headstocks, dry crankcase, combustible: gasoline. It's the same engine used on Nascar but toned down

Exchange - Especially manufactured in Argentina for competition, five gears, straight tooth gears

Those cars look great! I wouldnt mind racing on of those.

Actually, I'm Australian, but we'll let that one go this time (joke ;) )

I do vaguely recall that name.

The cars are a good deal lighter than the local V8 Supercar formula (1350kg from memory) - I'm surprised the bodies are fibreglass - they look awfully well finished for 'glass.

Looks a great series - you just need another manufacturer - but, hey, if you've got 30 cars there's no hurry.

I have to say - from the shots you've provided - there are some great colour schemes out there!

Sorry for that... =) I love the Aussies V8's... ESPNi sometimes show some races... The cars are very cool! If you don't know the Brazilian Chevrolet Omega is actually the Holden Commodore... it's imported...A Great car

Well, about the one manufacturer thing...the support from Manufactures here is very low... Fiat,Seat,Subaru and Mitsubishi only care to rally and offroad competitions...

The Only exception is Renault with Formula Renault and Clio Cup...

The Stock Cars have a heavy sponsorship by Chevrolet. And the championship is improving every year... The Stock Cars series almost ended on 1997... With the addition of the new tubular chassis on 99,the V8 engines,it's getting better and better every year.

But because this lack of help from manufactures everything becomes a lot harder...

Anyway,i'll post more pics soon...

i mean GT3 had the tickford FALCON XR8, we should have those and these mad GM VECTRAS, I thinkl it would be great addition, they look quite cool, they seem like hybrids though!

I don't know about covering the whole of the rear window - it makes them look like vans - but that Texaco Vectra looks fantastic!

Yeah...i don't like that... but since is so hard to get sponsors,i understand the extra space for publicity. :)

That's what i said...the body is based on the Chevrolet Vectra...just that... no parts of the Chevrolet Vectra (road car) are used. Tubular chassis + V8 engine = sucess :)

Too bad FAG has a different meaning than cigarette in the US.

LOL :p

Actually F.A.G. makes car parts...i don't know how to say in english, but i know in portuguese. They make "ROLAMENTOS", like TIMKEM (USA company) .

Do you think those cars should be added to GT4?

No,the Vectra is sold here with 3 types of engine: 2.0,2.2 and 3.0.

The V8 is just for the stock cars....it's an imported engine... the one used on NASCAR.

what kind of cars r those? and Y don't we have them in the US. they look tight

The Bodys are based on the Chevrolet Vectra. A famous car in Europe,Australia and South America.

The race car itself it's just like your NASCAR cars... but with the engine toned down to 550hp and different body.

Some new pics from last weekend race at Londrina.

Hey, Johnny I think I've known you from GTF. I was formally known as EvolutionWRX at GranTurismo Forums. If you remember that you've showed us the Brazilian Stock Truck Series with all of the Ford Rangers, Dodge Durangos, and all the Chevys before.
