Ive found a way to skip the break in period. All ya have to do is put max Hp modes on then change the oil. Now the car will not increase in hp. For example if i had a rx7 and i put the stage 3 turbo, racing intercooler, race exaust, chip, engine balance, port polish then changed the oil there would be no more power increase. But if you were not to max out hp and chance oil the power will increase.

So what car were you in when you figured this out?

Just curious, as most "won" cars are already broken in. so now that you've stated it, can you repeat it in another car?

I have tried the "virgin oil change" and it does not work. You have to drive the car until the oil is in need of a change, then change it and behold a HP increase.

You need about 300-400 Miles on the car to get your max HP.

But what difference does 3 or 4 HP make?

I always MAX out my HP with my car, then when i change oil, it increase my HP, when i MAX out the HP, i didnt drive it or do anything, i just change oil right away after upgrading all the parts for high HP.

try it with any dearlership car
OK, I tried this with a dealership car; the Honda DelSol. The dealership spec was 167 hp, but it was 160 brand new in the garage. I bought racing air cleaner, port and polish, balancing, chip, and NA2. Displacement, turbos and intercoolers not available. Hp with the mods was 265 in the shop and in the garage. Got an oil change; hp up to 278. Drove the car 30 miles; hp increased to 279. Looks like there's still a breakin period.

arrgghh you guys trying to pove me wrong.

Nothing personal Small_Fryz. ;) I'm just trying to see if there really is a way to avoid the breakin for bought cars. I've driven the Super Speedway enduro so many times to break in cars, with nothing to show for it but a few measly hp, a few million credits and a garage full of F1s.

One hp after 30 miles, but it will be about 7 or 8 hp after 190 miles or so. And that's for a low power car like the DelSol. I think it works on a percentage basis, and the change is larger for higher powered machines. I'm not near fast enough to give the competition that advantage in an OLR. :)

an aside... has anyone else noticed that some dealer cars seem to have longer, more productive break-in periods than others? for instance, both the silvia 1800 and 2000cc models continue to experience small horsepower gains well-after (what i think is) the standard break-in period. for other makes and models, the break-in period seems far shorter and less productive (can't think of one off the top of my head just this moment).

perhaps, though, i'm just going crazy... it happens, you know.
