I know you can RM (Race Modify) the base models in GT6 but I really, really miss the GT5 version. You took your car to the shop put it in and out comes this beautiful looking RMed car! Loved watching those graphics unfold! Ran a whole racing series using nothing but RMed cars!

The RM versions are still there. But yea, I liked it when you had to buy the stock and take it to the shop for RM-ing.

I don't understand the point of that RM feature. Sorg already proved that the RM's in GT5 are separate models. The only thing that made it look like your car was getting race modified in GT5 was the pointless garage cut scene.

So when you consider that, why watch a tedious cut scene so the game can swap 3D models, when you could just buy those specific models in the dealership to begin with and avoid the tedious cut scene?

I liked the RM feature, it gave me a sense of building a car from stock to race ready. I liked having to throw a crap load of money to get it RM'ed, made it feel like it was "mine" and "I" built it.

Sure all it was, was a different model but then again isn't that what video games are? :odd:. Essentially swapping whole images/objects to make it appear as if it's adding something to the existing?

On the other hand, I don't mind how they have it now, I don't really use them anyway. I'm trying to keep GT6 as stock as possible, my reflexes aren't all that sharp .

Can you get a 1970 Challenger in RM? I forget if it's there.

What happened to the Mach 40 that was supposed to be in the game?

Yes it is there. To my knowledge all of the GT5 RM cars are in GT6 as their own model.

I too miss the RM feature. For me one of the appeals of GT5 was the aspect of collecting. Having every car and RM version was interesting and something I set out to do early in the game.

I couldn't care less in GT6. Every car is available immediately at any time and owning them all has no appeal.
For instance the RM Cappuccino. No way I'll buy that car in GT6 unless I have to for a seasonal/event. But I owned at least 4 or 5 in GT5, all with different paint schemes and wheels.

Yep. When you sent them to the shop you had no idea what they'd look like when it was finished. Then you could paint the body and wheels and in essence customize (as far as that goes in GT). Made you feel you took a certain car and supped it up a different way. Now all the cars get modified the same way.

They should bring back proper race modding like GT2 had.
I think about the GT2 flavor of Race Mod a lot in regard to GT6, and future Gran Turismos. But I also mull over the handful of generic cars given us in GT5. I've concluded that having Race Mod produce a car that's in existence in the real world already, isn't much different than buying it pre-made from a shop. Now admittedly, I do enjoy seeing what comes of the Race Mod process, so even an existing racing livery is still a nice surprise.

But what I would prefer is that the Race Mod system produce unique Gran Turismo liveries, as long as these liveries are good looking and comparable to what are available in the real world, or some of the better user created examples in games such as Forza. In addition, I'd like the RM system to produce by user stipulation, blank race cars which can have custom liveries applied in a proper Editor.

While something like this might only come full boar in a GT7 on PS4, I'm still holding out hope that the team can accomplish this in some fashion in GT6.

This ^ the way they have it now is much better and faster. There is no need for the long drawn out pushing of buttons.

One of the things I miss from the original Gran Turismo, you could literally take any street car from that game and make a racing modification out of it. Would love to see that come back someday in some future version of GT.

They sell the RM cars seperately. They even added GT5 Spec II's Touring Cars and brand new Base Models! What's the problem here?

There is only a handful of such models at the moment, I think the op is after a situation like gt1 where every car had such a mod which was awesome.

They should bring back proper race modding like GT2 had. An example you had a stock Vauxhall Vectra, rm'd it and it turned into. BTCC Vectra SuperTourer (not some generic polyphony modded version). A few other examples were the Ford Falcon and Renault Laguna.

Sorry, but I disagree. While I like old RM method in PS1-era GT, I personally agree that those cars should be seperate from the production models, much like how production and former RM cars are in GT6. ;)

Why are there no new RM cars? Why is the ability to RM advertised as a feature, yet it's missing?
Other than number padding, why separate RM from base car?
