Britain's First Supercar: The Aston Martin V8 Vantage

It's more muscle car than supercar IMO...

This... muscle car/GT. Not a supercar... it's front engined.

I'm not a massive Aston fan generally, but that generation from the 70's and 80's would be the least desirable for me... styling wise, they lack the delicateness of the 60's cars, and the astonishingly pretty lines/proportions of the early DB9.

Since there's about a million definitions of a supercar, I went with what the automotive press hailed it as. Even many Aston Martin databases call it a supercar when I was doing the research for it.

Wikipedia, who cites a dictionary and a supercar book, says it's a luxury, high-performance, sports car or grand tourer.

Wikipedia also thinks that four-door coupes are actually a thing instead of them being sedans, but the Vantage being a grand tourer I'm more inclined to believe

4 door coupes are a thing though. Coupe has nothing to do with the amount of door and everything to do with the roof line and body proportions.

The V8 Vantage was dubbed Britain’s first supercar when it was launched in 1977; the 150mph DB6 and Jaguar E-type clearly weren’t fast enough to qualify…

The first Vantage used a 5.3-litre V8 that produced 375bhp housed beneath a quintessentially British body. Later ramped up to offer 404bhp, the two-door bruiser earned the title of ‘Britain’s first supercar’.

Pretty looking, great sounding, and an absolute ******* of a car. High quality unreliability guaranteed. Still, would love to own one, just to piss myself off everytime it dies during a nice weather cruise.

Lottery win would see me buy one instantly. Still one of the best looking Aston Martins in my opinion.
