If you don't want your PERSONAL opinions questioned, don't post them on an open web forum

No one is trying to 'sell' the idea of British cars to you - we simply want to hear the rational thinking behind your opinions. So far we haven't seen any evidence of that.

Ok, fine; surely you have to admit that even the Best British cars, noble, Lotus, TVR are not exactly bathed in luxury, so, considering the fact that i put luxury very high up my list of requirements, i dont look strongly upon these cars.

I love the TVR Sagaris, the Lotus Exige and the Noble M600, but they don't have the luxury that i require.
EDIT: The M600 is an exception...

TVR are the best british cars? Oh geez....

What about McLaren? They pants the competition when it comes to luxury+performance.
What about Aston Martin? There's your luxury...

Glue and plastic? I'm sure BAC, Ariel, etc would want to have a word with you about that...

Once again, give us solid reasons not just bollocks.

Preferences, I like TVRs

Preferences, i don't like McLarens or Astons

I'm sure they would, and during our discussion, i could tell them about all the weird and wonderful gadgets in my Fiesta, a radio, a roof, doors, and they would stare in amazement at these magic things.

Wow....you dodge the questions with fantasy talk instead of facts and then give a reply that's just sarcasm. Are you a politician?

Are YOU a politician?:sly:

EDIT: Frankly, i don't care anymore, i'm bored of this discussion, so i'll let you rant away:) On you go then...

You don't win an argument because you run from it...

And YOU don't win an argument by boring the opposition to death:ouch:, by continually droning on, instead of realising that everyone else has left and gone home, you continue to go on and on and on, instead of just dropping the whole thing.

*munchmunch* this is better than a lot of stuff on TV...

What about the other members that have posted today?....

Now, can we please have a logical reason as to why you dislike British cars other than you just don't like them?

The cars you mention are 'sports cars', pure sports cars at that. Why would a sports car need luxury. Luxury equals weight. Weight is the enemy of performance. Performance is the raison d'etre of the sports car.

You are basically basing your argument on British sports cars being too good at fulfilling their design brief.

Righto:

1: Looks-wise their not to my tastes*
2.And, in most cases, they are track-day cars so they do not have the luxuries that i require.*

That's it really, and as i've pointed out (eventually), i don't dislike ALL British cars, just the ones who do not fit the above criteria, i. e the ones who are built primarily to blitz a track*

*With exceptions, such as the McLaren MP4-12C & Aston Martins

So this has gone from all British cars to some British cars? Make up your mind!

Not sure why Mazerati has to have a logical reason to why he dislikes British cars...

He does if he's going to open a thread dedicated to him disliking British cars.

I presume Mazerati despises the Ferrari F40 too. That's a 'plastic car' that 'smells of glue' and has less luxury than a base model Elise.

Not really. I think this whole time he just baited you guys in, and you all are just over doing it. You may like to think the logic is a reason to hate british cars...but it doesn't have to be. I really don't see why this thread went past the first post...but I now know how to get under a brits skin:sly:. Nah I wouldn't do that though I'm too much in love with that Aston Martin DBS.

If that's the case then he's trolling which should result in a holiday from GTP.

I'd happily argue his logic if the thread was about how all American cars were heavy basic-engineered dinosaurs that guzzled fuel and couldn't take a corner.

You can't open a thread with such a flammatory statement without expecting others to question his lack of logic.

Have you ever been on a forum before?

And just to quote YOU from a different thread...

See it is a discussion, not you say your opinion and that is the end all end all.

Doesn't have to be logical, it just has to exist and have some sort of evidence. You can't just say "I don't like them" and fail to provide evidence, or worse, continue to argue after your points have been disproven for the sake of "winning"

They're ugly. Here's what I don't like.

Because I said that all British cars were crap, and I was merely pointing out that it was a mistake to include jaguar into that category. THEN, it turned into an argument...surprise, surprise.:grumpy:

It turned into an argument because you made a statement that was wrong, and you required telling otherwise.

Yeah but if someone did that about American cars I'd know how to argue it quite well, but why waste the time when it's an obvious baited thread. Nothing against you guys at all, I just think Mazerati is trolling

This thread, it's full, of, what should I call it. Nothing. Just a waste of the interwebz space.

Doesn't make it any less amusing though, that's for sure!

Scratching my head on how someone could only like luxury cars. Even more wild is disliking McLaren. I thought McLaren was like common ground between car enthusiasts. Got to respect what the F1 brought to the table. "The Luxury I require" just an interesting statement...I guess from driving a '97 Jeep I can't relate to requiring luxury haha.
