British Lightweights sesonal overkill?

Is using my 464hp 550pp Esprit overkill? I finished 1:00+ ahead in Cote d'Azur.

Most likely. I had a 470 HP Lotus Evora that I used for these and it destroyed everyone easily.

If you want a challenge, I recommend using an Elise or something.

It was a nice change of pace though. Ran the Super GT at Indy the race before and only won by .008!

If you want a challenge, try the Mini Marcos. I can't get better than third.

This has been my favourite seasonal so far. I've used tuned and untuned Elises, and some of my many Caterhams. Great fun. Even more fun to see how untuned you can make a car to win it. I just wish we had more options here. Some more Triumphs would be great, and of course, more Lotus/Caterham 7 variants. If you're going to have the Fireblade, then the Hayabusa option needs to be there. Personally, I want to see it with more Ford dohc units. Damn, now I'm getting mad that the Escort Mexico, RS1800 and RS2000 are missing from the game.

The Mini Marcos was a blast to drive! Took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back. Finished just over 11 secs. ahead. Gonna see what other cars I got for this event and give it a go.

Ginetta was fun. Other than a little driver error (got stuck & forgot how to put it in reverse) it wasn't much of a challenge though. Onto the Spitfire!

Seems like there are lots of ways to race it in lots of good cars to me. You still get the same payout no matter what you win with.

I don't think it's the car that makes the race good so much as it's the driver. Sure I won on my first attempt with a car that was way over powered compared to the rest of the field, but I've had much more fun racing with cars that were more difficult to win with and provided for much closer races. After getting golds in everything but the endurance races in A spec, I'm happy to find some races that remind me how much fun GT5 really is!

Fail. Caterham with slicks and a box. It is an amazing experience.

Picked up a Spitfire yesterday, I think it'll be the next to hit the track. And a bit off the cuff... anyone know if the Range Stormer can be reduced by about 1300kg?

I'm sure this car is overkill, but the Cote d'Azur race is very peculiar in that the AI constantly crash/spin (there are a couple of threads on this).

I've been doing these races in the G4 and the Spitfire and while the Cote seems pretty easy (other than negotiating the AI demolition derby), I've found the others races much more difficult. I'm particularly struggling with London in these cars.

I used a setup based on one from JLawrence (Vintage Tuning Garage) for the Spit - but ended up with 190 BHP. Excellent fun, especially on the Aso track. Tune here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5351179#post5351179

All this talk made my first G4 appear in the UCD... draped in Lotus Yellow no less. I must say it looks sweet!

It may have to bump the Spit back a couple races now 👍

I love the ring in this seasonal, so far (for a challenge) I've done the spitfire, marcos, and ginetta - all P1. If you're looking for total overkill, try the AC cars 427 cobra, It qualifies as a british lightweight and its serious fun to drive. I think my best was a 7:09

If you think it's overkill, try the AC Cobra stock with sport hards at London. That one had me pulling my hair out. Finally switched to sport medium and won easily.

Cote d'Azur was easy in the Cobra on sport hards. The AI crash so much you can take a nice easy drive and win.

I'll give it a go when the kids are off the TV ... I can't undo the weight reduction and some other stuff, but I'll have a look.

I used the London track, for my experiments, because is the more dificult of all.

With my skills, impossible with the Triumph, doable with a MGF

Well you have to do a little weight reduction to qualify for the race anyway. That big ole fat Cobra is too heavy for the "lightweight" race.
