BSpec needs Fast Forward. anyone else agree?

Instead of fast forwarding. Id like to be able to use my B spec driver with my A spec. That would be really cool, and actully give one a sort of relationship to your B driving team.

As for now i think the B spec is completely useless besides, we can use it to grind a litle money while we are AFK.

This was also possible in GT4 along with the fast forward function, when you pitted in an endurance race you could hand it over to B-spec Bob for his stint making the endurance races actually more realistic than driving them fully yourself (as nobody drives a 24hour endurance race solo in real life).
It's odd to me that this also isn't possible anymore and B-spec is purely a manager style gamemode with no interaction between A and B-spec.
I expected a gamemode where you could create and "educate" potential teammates to use in A-spec endurance events as well, now it all just seems a bit detached, pointless and a chore to complete, unless you're into manager-style games perhaps.

In the last Famitsu interview Yamauchi has been clear: we won't see that. Here's why (my translation):
Yamauchi: ...Finishing 24 hour races in 8 hours sounds cheap, but also a bit sad.
LOL! No, Kaz - spending 24 hours watching a computer race itself around a virtual track is sad. Get a grip, boy.

Fast forward is not possible I think. To do all the physics calculations at a x10 speed isn't viable. They would have to implement a Football manager type of programme like F1 2010.

It was possible to do in GT4 (up to 3 times the speed if I remember correctly) and not that much has changed since I reckon regarding this issue at least.
It's a choice not to implement it, not a technical limitation as they already made it work 6 years ago.:)

There should be no fast forward, instead there should be a mechanism to stop you simming credits with B spec. So for example if you havent given your driver any commands in 10 mins he will just pull into the pits and park the car. You lose the race and you get only credits and EXP for the portion of the race you paticipated in.

I never played it. Did you see the cars racing in fastforward?

Yes, by all means make B-Spec an even stupider thing to be in the game.

What prize car do you get from Le mans 24 h ?

******** but you also get a prize ticket for doing the entire endurance class and *** is pretty common with it.

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU

Can we NOT put spoilers like this in threads that are not requesting spoilers?? seriously WTF, I'm pretty sure there are already threads for these kind of questions 🤬:banghead::irked:

I found a trick...

do the b spec events while watching hockey or football...

leveling, acquiring money and nice cars and watching my favorite teams play!!! (Canadians and Pats!)

that's atwo for one !!

Good idea but sometimes when the game gets too hot you forget to start a new race !

Vive les canadiens de montréal ! :D

There's really not much else that can be said. B Spec is a ****ing utter tragedy. Kaz thinks repetition and grinding are a replacement for gameplay, and that part of the game should be watching someone else play it.

This would be the equivalent of:
An FPS game giving you the role of commander.
A sports game giving you the role of owner instead of coach or player.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or 3, as seen from Tails' perspective.
A Boxing game where you wipe sweat and replenish water in your fighter's corner
Grand Theft Auto 4, where you play Niko's mother back in Russia

Booooring.

lol @ playing as Nikos mother

A bit cheap? maybe Sony have finally managed to agree a share of the profits from the electricity companies with all those PS3's on for weeks on end without a break?

Frankly to me, finishing a 24h race in 8 hours doesn't sound as "sad" as having to leave your PS3 on for a week and a half in order to finish the same event because of a rather antiquated design choice.

HEAR,HEAR.........bull crap having to spend 24hrs in front of your tv screen going round in circles, dont get me wrong, i love the game, but the 24hr endurance races just take the biscuit.👎

Maybe not for all the races, but definitely for the endurance group. tired of literally not being able to play for 24 hours at a time. and whats with having to repeat the same race a dozen times. leveling system needs refined as well.

:grumpy:

Gran Turismo 4 had it, why not GT5?

I totally agree. Btw, good to see you on the boards Brian

It doesn't need Fast Forward it just needs to die. 👎 B-Spec had a very decent purpose in GT4 being able to let him run your races and things like that all w/ a fast forward feature. Now that B-Spec is separate it doesn't have any purpose in the game, it's this weird meta game where I'm "training" a virtual racer to do what I'm already doing in A-Spec with the EXACT same races.

I wasn't as against B-Spec before but now that I've sunk so much time into it I just can't stand it anymore. Watching him act like a monkey on training wheels in Cote d'Azur was my breaking point. Plus the pay off isn't that great and I'd rather not leave my PS3 on for extended periods of time while a silly drone AI is doing a race. It's just not fun. The idea of B-Spec could be cool but naw.. it's a time sink with no decent pay off.

as far as pay off goes, i got 6 million cred, an x1, and in a few days a free FGT, plus a garage full of awesome cars to use in A Spec. all for switching inputs on my tv and watching some hbo while bob handles things for me.

All B spec needs is a pause button and a fast forward button for the endurance races only. Any normal race it doesnt need a FF at all.

It isn't hard to implement as GT4 already had a fast forward function for B-spec

I wouldn't guarantee that. It could well be a processing limitation/system resources thing. The physics engine and GFX engine are probably doing a lot more in GT5 that in GT4. Granted, there is more horse power in the PS3 over the PS2, but I think essentially you are asking the internal game engine and physics engine to run at a highly accelerated pace, and it could be that the PS3 just isn't up to it. I remember Codemasters running into this problem with F1 2010 replays.

Save function in middle of a race would be good enough for me.

Exactly what I was going to say. A fast forward function (even though it was in gt4) shouldn't be included. B-spec is its own separate mode and requires time to complete it.

Moral of the story for me... I wish the b-spec mode carried over from GT4.

I have no interest in b-spec whatsoever and watching that tool hobble around the track is beyond annoying. There is absolutely no point in b-spec unless used to assist my a-spec career (beyond money/cars). I loved being able to throw b-spec on for endurance races in GT4 because most normal people don't have the damn time to sit there and race it themselves. Never mind fast forwarding... you can't even walk away during b-spec races because apparently bob is so insecure that he can't even decide to take a **** on his own without you giving him instructions every 10 seconds.

I love the series but the decision to mirror a-spec, add more laps and make you coach the equivalent of an infant was a really retarded seeming step for the series. At least if I have to coach this dumb *** give him a different set of events entirely instead of the exact same bs I just completed. It's like they did it as a desperation move to add content at the last minute because they were embarrassed with the lack they developed over 6 years.

End rant. Excuse me while I go back to playing.

The races are 24 hours long.... meaning you get to play nothing at all on your PS3 every time you enter these races. You will be doing this for nearly two weeks between levels 35 to 40.

You do realize that you get absolutely NOTHING for reaching level 40 in either B-Spec or A-Spec in GT5?

Why not try just playing the game for fun and eventually you'll inevitably reach level 40 (at least in B-Spec). Just use the B-Spec races while you're away from home or whatever. It doesn't always have to be a 24-hour race. Games are meant to be fun, yet you're playing this game in a way that isn't going to be a good time.

It's up to you what you get out of the game. If people want to totally finish the game (that took how many years to come out?) in two months and be bored for the next however many years, it's their choice.

Personally, I'm not in a rush to ruin a good thing.

was under the impression that the ps3 is already working hard enough to get things smooth at 1x speed.. doing the same calculations at 3x speed (or more or whatever) would probably require the game to be a lot less precise or race without any visuals at all.. then you might as well replace it with a button that triggers a random outcome and give you a free reward
i'd say stick to a-spec if b-spec isnt for you :)

a save function would really be nice tho
