Sys lap Controversy

TsukubaCircuit-3.jpg

Tricky one.

Car has two wheel on kerb but technically all 4 wheels are not off track otherwise the car would not be even on the kerb, it would be totally off.

Big thing is, look at replay, has Sy just run wide through late braking, and high speed understeer? Or just laid off the steering when he could have directed the car through the corner more?

It's a tricky corner to get perfect, in my case if i run wide it's high speed understeer while accelerating. The margins are very close between staying on the right of the line or not.

Would he had gained much more by running wide there?
I must admit your wheels are way over the line, we do have a bit of Lee way but that's for just over not well over.

Ill be honest and say I was working my backside off to avoid going anywhere near the Curb at the last corner, so Im afraid, sorry Sy :nervous:, I think its a pen :(

But yeah, if Gedi wants to ask 'Lee Way' for his opinion then sure go for it :)

I think its fine. You gain a few extra mph but then you travel further so its no different IMO.

I mean a few as well like 5 mph max gain.

Perhaps as we all appear to be a bit undecided he can get away with it, we all know Sy doesnt cheat. :)👍

Yes but that's the faster way around the track, if I were able to take that corner like that yesterday I would have had a 54 as I messed it up so I wouldn't take a penalty after running wide on lap 1.

Oh yeah we not saying that at all, but if you let 1 then you have to let all plus all the time setters already will be a bit...umm what's the word pee'd off.

Lol point proven lol

Nel i have changed the setup you gave me a little if you wanted to try it.

Reduced front camber to 2 and upped front toe to -0.20. Softened front springs to 8.0 (about there but not sure exact setting) Was trying to help braking which has helped lap times.

Stu

After typing beginning to wonder if i had already changed it  senior moment again. Try settings anyway if you want.

Yeah and the distance he would have to travel is not that much (talking like less than 100cms) and going 3mph is a lot more to gain.

Hosts decisions - so whatever stands I'll agree 👍

Correct sorry it sucks but its a clear void in my book if we are sticking to the kurb isnt track rule. This way everyone knows where they stand otherwise i can see things getting very complicated down the line.:nervous:

Ok cheers Stu may just do that :) 👍

One other thing which should simplify it. Is it track limits? In TOCA Season 3 I was found guilty when I made a pass on knelly on the front straight at Monza, using the outside of the track (where the old banking joins the front stretch).

If you would be allowed to overtake using that part of track, its ok and within limits surely? If not, then its illegal? Same case with the Tsukuba final turn.

That's in race so no time to gain.

I think Q being so important here we have to be very careful what we let go and what we class as void stick to the rules and its simple as tough as that is.:guilty:

Difference with that at Monza to Tsukuba is its basically impossible to overtake using the position of Syjones car. If Syjones did that in the race, trying to go around a car on the outside using the kerb he'd would probably go into the walls because the other guys would just go wide, like we all do. If someone does clearly use more kerb - its illegal. You cant do it in qualifying or race. Mistakes happen so it can happen a few times in the race, but if you overtake on the kerb you have to give the place back

But here at Tsubuka I dont see it as an issue, because you lose time if you go to overtake on the kerb and its very hard to stay along side on the outside of the last turn - and if someone does try and pull that move off, it probably wont end well
