If that's the case championship standings wouldn't be a good base to use in my view - there's been some very quick guys who've arrived late season and are thus low down in the points.

Was a guess probably totally wrong.:dopey: A/R will be fun in the S3 i remember testing the ham monster pre season felt good here.👍

Car picks are going to get interesting, as I'm sure there will be more drivers wanting a car than there are spaces available.

I can't think of a fair method to pick people out, except for perhaps holding a 'qualification race' where each driver who wants a car basically races for it.

👍

I like rolo's idea of having a race. But racing incidents is just gonna create too much controversy. How about hot lapping in the same car instead. A 2 lap shootout per driver for S3-leaderboard-car-choice-priority. That way its only you and the car. You wont have to worry about the numpty behind you overshooting their brakes.

A 4 wheel drive car since I prefer FR but I know rolo prefers FF. using an FR might be disadvantagious for rolo and an FF will be disadvantagious to me. Having 4WD will let drivers split torque to their liking. 305bhp. 1200-1400 kg. Sports Soft tyres. Track will be something technical like autumn ring mini or a kart track.

What do you guys think?

That's a point killa.

Yeah I can see the shootout working. I'm happy to host a lounge. In this lounge, people are allowed one warm-up lap, followed by 2 fast laps in their preferred car. I don't think we should use 4WD for all - I don't often get the maximum speed out of 4WD that others can, for example. It may be similar for others too. Using preferred cars allows people to max their potential straight away.

The two fastest drivers in each car earn that car for Season 3, and then those drivers can work towards setting up a team. It's the same as the qualifying system used in BST V8's, which seems to work faultlessly. Times could be open for a few days to allow everyone time to participate. I'd have to be present to watch the laps to ensure fairness, and if it's necessary, someone would have to watch mine. Perhaps one of the stewards.

One thing I would suggest, as you say killa, is holding the shootouts on a track that is not on the BTCC calendar - perhaps somewhere that allows for a varied test of skills. Suggestions welcome.

For this to work, all drivers would probably have to be given a few days to nominate their preferred cars for S3. Maybe their top 4 preferred cars so we know their reserve choices. I'm happy to organise that. Obviously, late-comers will just have to take up what gets left.

Yeah using the Q system will work well :)
I'm up for that but do teams have to have same car?? If so surely 1 person from a team should do the shootout shouldn't they?

Example:

I win the focus
Cunny wins the golf, but were in the same team.
Can you see my point?

Ill let you guys figure out this hard stuff just tell me when and where to show up .

I just like driving :)

Yeah I think there will be 8 cars, and therefore 8 teams with only one car allowed each.

I understand you yeah.

It will mean more explaining for me to do, but I guess that could be another thing to say in advance - who your preferred team-mate is.

I guess you could enter the shootouts as a team, and if one of your drivers hits the Top 2 then you're both successful. It's a bit weird I know but seems the best way to please everyone.

Well it does need to be sorted and worked out for this 2 work.

Keep up the good work rolo... Where's geeky in all this??

Well, let me say it like this: I won't be mad if I can't use the Seat, but I'll be glad if we can figure out something. I reckon JB, Gedi and I would be a good team :D

Even if I can't use the Seat I wonder if Ebay won't be satisfied :sly:

my proposal. Let the lowest in the championship points choose first BUT

to calculate it use a points per race ratio

this way even if someone has few points due entering late but had wins or great results will result as a top driver and choose after the others.

It tends to be with the crowd at all the circuits I've run on, so I'd imagine so.

Yeah i noticed your test charts mate the Seat dosent look to be one of the quickest from your results maybe i should shut up because my A/R test was a little concerning tbh:nervous:.:guilty::indiff:

I quite like karsten's proposal actually. Perhaps we should do this every season. It also provides a very interesting 'alternative championship'.

I've posted the Points Per Race standings after Autumn Ring in the S3 thread.

Scenario: Mel wins race 1 in autumn ring and GVS. And he gets 5th or so in race 2. Possible right? That gives him an average finish of 3rd. That would mean he's one of the first drivers for dibs on cars. Does that seem fair?

Having shootouts is just between you and the car. Nothing affecting your lap times. Man and machine in perfect harmony.

I think it's reverse points per race. So the higher the score, the further down the list you are. So in that situation, Mel would be last to choose.

I'm cool with either idea at present, unless someone is persuasive enough either way.
