ok deep forest raceway with a semi dcent setup 12 laps with accord r'00

times ranging from 1.24.2 to 1.24.7

Thankyou for the times Rolo.
Big range of times Karsten :)

Also do drivers want to try the BMW 135i Coupe '07?
Just it is a premium car and in season 1 we didn't give it much of a chance.

Also I can see the Integra is a good car ;)

I selected the 120d in front of the 135i cos the 120 was actually raced in BTCC, but I dunno, it could be worth testing to see what kind of speed it can do.

Never knew the 120d did :)
Worth trying both out I think :)👍

BMW 120d in BTCC

OK, add the BMW 135i Coupe '07 and Audi S4 '98 to the OP list. :)

I think in the end there should only be one car per manufacturer.

Perhaps the Integra is a touch TOO good :P ... aiming for the middle time amongst the group really.

Oh Yes I see :sly:

Okidoki :)👍

Sounds good to me 👍

I agree, it is .5 faster than most

I think the 135i will be too quick, but we can give it a go

I'll do some more testing when I find more cars on the list :)

Yeah Nick Leason did a few rounds in the BMW diesel but didn't stay for long so it's understandable that he/it was overlooked. In GT5 the 120d is faster than the 120i so it could be a good choice.

I'm available for a test race at Monza this Friday, if people are also free to do one (please let me know). It'll take place after the Season 2 races.

I'm happy to remain in the Focus, and if people who wish to race could nominate a car to drive that would be great :) Please remember that the race needs an S2 Audi, BMW and possibly Honda.

Current Nominated Cars:
rolo912011 - Ford Focus ST '06

Some updated Deep Forest times:

Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04 - 1:22.038 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 474 PP)
Ford Focus ST '06 - 1:22.338 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 484 PP)
Honda Civic Type R '08 - 1:22.398 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 470 PP)
BMW 120d '04 - 1:22.542 (302 BHP, 1400 KG, 478 PP)
Nissan PRIMERA 20V (EU) ’01 - 1:22.692 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 466 PP)
Renault Clio Renault Sport '02 - 1:22.844 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 478 PP)
Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02 - 1:23.387 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 474 PP)
VW Golf V GTI '05 - 1:23.543 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 475 PP)
Audi S4 '98 - 1:23.898 (305 BHP, 1400 KG, 466 PP)
Lexus IS200 '98 - 1:23.997 (305 BHP, 1400 KG, 455 PP)
Opel Vectra 3.2 V6 '03 - 1:24:148 (305 BHP, 1228 KG, 474 PP)
Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 TWIN SPARK '06 - 1:24.201 (302 BHP, 1200 KG, 463 PP)
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98 - 1:24.251 (305 BHP, 1200 KG, 472 PP)

7 cars left for me to test:

Audi S3 '02
BMW 135i Coupe '07
BMW 330i '05
Honda Accord Euro-R '00
Peugeot 307 XSi ’04
Peugeot coupé 406 3.0 V6 ’98
Volvo S60 T-5 Sport ’03

I'd agree, for sure. Maybe the Audi and BMW are a shade faster, but overall it's basically the same.

Maybe it could do with slightly more equalisation (only very slightly though)... speed of course depends on the driver, but I think it's a little harder for the Honda and Ford to win.

I think the best drivers (not necessarily in this series) could win in any of the cars, even the Vectra

Individual power and weight regs for every car are the only way that it'll ever be perfect, and for that you need...
- a lengthy track entry procedure
- not many cars

That's true. I envisage that the best solution in the end will be that the Audi/BMW/Honda/Ford are perhaps given 50 or 100kg, or perhaps even 150kg more weight to match them up to the fastest 3 or 4 cars behind them.

I defently do :D:tup:

Yeah there's only a couple of tenths between them 👍

If thats the case then why not just add 4 more cars to the current list instead of a whole new list altogether? It would make things sh.t loads easier.

The aim is to test every possible car, then file off the quickest and the slowest until we're left with the ones in the middle, which might be different from the current list :)

I think maybe we'd need to have a vote on the best way to choose the 6-8 cars we're gonna use. I mean, I'd be happy to keep the Audi/BMW/Ford/Honda from S2, since I think we all agree they're already good, and perhaps add weight to equalise them to the 2-4 cars behind them (or give the slower cars more power, whatever works).

Once I've got the last 7 or so cars run then I'll have a pretty good idea of what cars are up there. Rob's times at Autumn Ring appear to be mimicking the running order I've got for Deep Forest.

Of course one-lap pace isn't the whole story. A fast car that's crap on it's tyres will not be equal to the S2 cars in races, so hopefully if people can do test races then it's instantly visible. There'll hopefully be a test race at Monza after the S2 meet this Friday, if people are able to make it.

With the testing we've done between us (granted, you've probably done more homework than me), we've got a good idea of what's quick and what isn't. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if there were just the 4 cars you mentioned in S3 (Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda), although obviously it would be nice to have a couple more (Primera please )

Quality over quantity (but we know that ;)). S3 grid will be 99% equal at this rate, I think this is the first time we've done any serious testing

I think Primera and Clio are likely, and perhaps the 120d if we agree to have multiple cars per manufacturer. I'd have the 120d over the 135i anyway, just for BTCC accuracy's sake :P ... Integra may be a little bit too fast, unless we give it maximum ballast, perhaps.

If my times are like yours and karsten's with the Accord, then I reckon out of the cars I've got left to run the Volvo is the only "new" one which might be good enough to join the party.

Could decide to run the Mazda 6 too if people really want to see an Avensis-type car.

(my 2 cents) From what we've seen so far, I'd say... 330i, S3, Focus, Civic, Primera, Clio (maybe)

The Primera and Clio seem close, Primera is one of the all-time great touring cars anyway :)

We'll have to vote on it in a couple of weeks though... somehow :ouch:

Hey, I'm back again. Got an exam coming up so I've been busy studying.

Really great progress you're making with the testing 👍
Did some testing with the Mazda 6 (premium version) last week and it was about as fast as the Primera. I'll post the lap times later today :)

Personally loves the diversity of cars in the BTCC, so a grid consisting of only 4 different models would be a bit lacking. But know it's important to maintain a certain equality too.
But it's all coming along nicely as mentioned above 👍
