Every day, someone needs another patch.

My cars have no rocket lunch...I need a patch.

Must need rocket lunch!

I agree though, patch this, patch that, patch this. I got an idea for the whiners. Patch your mouth and play the damn game. This isn't a case of F1 2010 where the game is unplayable and losing fans. People are just being greedy and can't be satisfied at all. Give them every car in the world, every track, every possible realistic feature, and they will cry there's not enough.

It's not a bug, it's how you set the lobby I believe. You can either choose to respect or not qualification. And you're talking about private room, so I guess buddy. Why you're not making your own start then ? redo the Grip and start in order, if you're in private room with friends, it shouldnt be a problem.

It's amazing. Somebody mentions a bug in this game. And it is a bug. Qualifying is all but useless if you do free runs and don't stay on track. The moment you go back to the pits your times are tossed.

And what is the result? He get's insulted for his poor English (it's obviously not his first language) and the rest of the fan boys go on a juvenile like tirade because we all know the game is just perfect and like in Soviet Russia, we should all just shut up about it.

So much for discussion and discourse. 👎

I too get sick of every other thraed requesting a patch
but in all fareness I always set my lobby up as fastest first and this does not allway happen.

If we are with a few in the game it sometimes happens that not every one kan see everybody.

And yesterday I finished 2nd after a friend and the result showed that I had won and he was second with a gap op -0.6 seconds (normaly the gao is +) :D
I even got the most credits.

When I'm home I'll upload a picture of it.

It would be nice to have this patched

That is likely something which will never be patched. Lag and latency issues are what account for such results. I've seen this happen with several different racing games. But the qualifying issue is something which could and should be corrected.

We had the same problem with qualify at our league site. But we found a solution for this (thanks to all czech racers :D). Switch track, then all go to the track except room owner, he's the last one to go. No one may leave the track. If you keep it, qualify will be ok.

It's true though, the amount of bugs in a game with such extensive development time is ridiculous

Every game studio has, at some point, to deliver the game to customers, fully aware that there are bugs. Many companies, including Blizzard, have a schedule and they can't postpone the release indefinitely for a few bugs they call minor (which it is compared to some bugs you'll see in the industry). Most of the time for a game of a good scale, it can go up to a few hundred small problems and glitches scattered around the game that couldn't be fixed because sometimes it takes a lot of effort just to fix a small problem.

Now imagine a game with the scale of GT5 or Fallout. People complain Fallout or GT are buggy, but just imagine the sheer amount of combination you are facing. Even if you would test it for years, somebody would come up with a new way to try the system and find a little failure in it! There are 1000 cars in GT5 (and don't mention the 20 skylines, we know! Get over it), each with their own behavior, their own setup, their own history and their own little details. There are also a lot of events, tracks, models, textures, coding involved.

Even with Kazunori at the head of the studio, you can't expect a game, even after 6 years, to be absolutely perfect. Perfection in gaming doesn't exist in this day and age and people tend to forget the sheer complexity of such projects!

We are not in 2D side scroller with only a few limited choices of movement. We are not facing 100MB of data.

We are facing a 3D simulator with 1000s of possibilities.
We are facing 10s of GB of data!

Don't forget that next time you mention there is a blade of grass in the wrong place.:)

That has nothing to do with fanboy-ism. Most of us have wishes for a perfect game and most of us know, where the fault are.

But the GTPlanet-forum is a whole patch-request and bug-report. Sorry, but I have no game, where I am 100% satisfied and I always find issues and ideas to make it better. But as we all know game developers, they create games and fix the most noticable issues.

You can be happy, if you get fixed anything. PD also will not patch the game forever. Be lucky, when they fix big problems and try to live with the rest.....LIKE WITH EVERY OTHER GAME OUT THERE

Happy if they fix anything? Hardly. Perhaps my expectations are a bit higher. I'm not talking about a blade of grass out of place or arguing which car should be premium instead of standard. But if this game is to be taken seriously as a sim racer, qualifying needs to be fixed. I'm not asking them to add something that isn't already there. Qualifying is a major feature of the online play that already exists but it's simply broken. If it takes them another few months to fix it, fine. As long as it's corrected eventually.

I'm just a bit irked that there's so little discussion left in the GT5 section. It's full of juvenile knee jerk comments that add absolutely nothing.

Yes sir, right away sir, we never listen sir.......

"have you seen the cars that are standard they look like they have headlights painted on " hello its standard

To EVERY OTHER developer in the sim/arcade/racing genre in 2010 that is not standard...It is SUBSTANDARD. And that is the point of complaint.

To the OP:

The host has the option to choose how the starting grid is formed- fastest first, slowest first, or reverse grid based on previous race results.

But it isn´t necessary to create a new thread for every bug user can find. You join the forum and all you can find are threads about issues, patches, bugs etc.

There are a lot of threads, you can add problems.

Another thing is, that even at PC-sims, you can find a lot of problems and bugs, you wish to get fixed. But as funny it sounds, PD is the better developer and supporter. PC-sims often get one or two patches with the most intense bug-fixes and that´s it.

At some point, the community needs to draw a line and accept, that not every problem in GT can and will be fixed and deal with the game, they play for now.

It is bad, but that´s how it always is. For now, you can decide, if you buy the next GT-title in hope to get better supported and finished features or buy not because of the unfinished and insipid flavor the previous title has.

In my opinion, enough bugs are mentioned and PD will have enough work to fix the bigger problems.

I haven't seen a thread created specifically for this issue brefore. Maybe it wasn't necessary to create one just because of the qualifying bug. But that's for the mods to decide. Issues like this tend to get buried in general bug threads so I for one am glad that attention is being drawn to it.

We all have our own ideas about what is or isn't important and what should be given priority. I'm sure for some people this matters very little. For me, and for the league I run in, and for others in the same situation, the qualifying bug is a rather large problem and ruins a very important aspect of the game. We hold organized races that sometimes last for 1~2 hours and qualifying and grid positions plays a big part in the event. Imagine, we have 1 lap qualifying of the Nurburgring 24hr layout in slower cars--this can take 20+ minutes just for an outlap and one qualifying lap. Only come to find out that everybody ends up in a random grid position anyway. :ouch: What a waste of time.

What if say, during every online race, 1 minute before the end of the race, it would suddenly end and the results wouldn't be displayed. Would you consider this a serious issue? Or should I just say, Oh well, they can't fix everything. Just accept it the way it is and move on and purchase GT6 (or not).

Now come on Jeff, you should be grateful in first place they allow you to spent your money in a game they made. What's this picky.thing of yours... (/sarcasm)

;)

Interesting you say that. The issue the OP is having is related to online play. F1 2010 was great online. Most of the issues people had were offline related. So, in the OP's world, GT5 would be "unplayable" as you put it. People throw the word "unplayable" around like Skittles these days. SMH

I don't really get the complaint, there is a bug that awards the second place races with the first place points, that was weird, but it's not game destroying. As for the time trials thing, get over it. Simply because the room owner can completely void the time trials and have the grid line up according to the last race results. Why are you complaining at all, is it because you have a hard time passing others? If you are a good enough driver you can capitalize on bad drivers mistakes in online races. I have done it many times, I would sit back and just watch the other driver until I see an opportunity to pass him. Of all the things to complain about, you are complaining about something that is very optional, I seldom set lap times to place. I use it mostly to gauge who is the quickest driver to look out for. A lot of people like to try to cheat and allow their car power to degrade then slap a turbo in and get their car up to spec. Had a guy do that in the JGTC/Super GT races, I was amazed that his WoodOne Supra could out run my Xanavi Nismo Skyline on a straight, that was an impossibility. If anything, PD needs to implement an engine mod lock out, that way we keep race cars set to stock power for races at the room owners discretion. I usually run 15 lap races so I don't need to start in a front position in order to have an enjoyable race.
