And just for clarification: could you buy any year GN with a naturally aspirated V-6 regardless of displacement?

No. 1982 was the only non-turbo year for the GN. Full stop.

Just for clarification, the triple shifters were in the Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst/Olds.

Oh, and as far as a V8 GN/GNX, there was NOT one produced from the factory. Ask your friend where he heard this bit of information from.
 
I have seen Regals V8s gussied up into GN lookalikes. Maybe that is where he got it from.

Makes sense. Similar to owning a V6 Mustang or Camaro and making it look like the GT/Z28, it's just not the same.

He says that there were 51 made. I dont know where he heard it from though.
 
Well for your sake, I wouldn't believe him since I can't find any mention of a V8 GN(X) online, even at the dedicated sites!
