Does anyone watch or download the video podcasts that the developers, Criterion Games make, known as CrashTV?
I always find them quite entertaining and give an insight into how the game is developed.
They also date back to when the first major patch was announced and show how the game has changed, which is useful for a latecomer to the game like me :D

Since my understanding is that like-minded players are difficult to come by I would be willing to join up if I am free.
This missus has today off, as does her brother, which means she'll log into COD4 at her earliest chance, and spend the entire day playing. Hopefully she'll burnout sometime around 8-9pm (12 or so hours) and I can jump online tonight. If any of you see me on, feel free to join in. I'm eager to retire the last 4 challenges I have online. In my quest to get there, we can easily knock off multiple other challenges that any of you have to complete.

Feel free to send me an invite if you're hosting a room. ;)

I should be free. But as women schedules are odd "We are doing nothing" could easily mean "we are shampooing the carpets." So, if I am on I will watch for you to come online.

Just to confirm it does use voice chat, correct?

And if that didn't tell you; Here is the list of all online challenges I still need to complete:

  1. All of them

Also, I still haven't unlocked all cars offline or purchased any extra DLC so there may be a few things that I don't have that could make these challenges easier.

I really wish I had bought this game a long time ago.

Hi FK. :)
Would you mind me adding your PSN to my friend list? so that we may play Burnout together later on. 👍

And yes, the game supports voice chat. So to those who have a mic, feel free to chat with we're playing together. ;)
But unfortunately, I don't have a mic. So I'll invite you all into a text chat via XMB from time to time. :p

Go ahead, just leave a note saying you are from GTP, in case I forget.

Actually, if no one tells it to leave the chat room, and you just back out using the Circle button, whenever anyone leaves a message it will pop-up in the corner of the game screen.

Great. :) Let's see if we can meet up together with DerAlta. :D

Well, my idea of getting online this weekend completely fell to pieces. If I happen to make it online this week, it'll be randomly. If I catch one of you, I'll join in. These last 4 challenges are such a pain. They apparently are the ones that noone wants to do, and as such, any random online meeting I do join, they want the Freeburn challenges done first. I've been kicked from three online games in the past week, because of Stunt runs. I have mapped a Path around the city, that leads me through a list of jumps, drifts, billboards and such. I can easily amass 1mil+ in one stunt run, easily. Thus I win nearly every stunt run. Noone likes that, and I get booted.

If I get a free moment this week, I'll write-up the path.

In addition, I know of a stretch of road that has 14 cars parked on it. With a little bit of boost, you can easily get a 14x Near Miss run.

Combine that with a Perfect Score Power park and you can easily lead the boards in any online session.

Or maybe I toot my horn too much.

Hoefully I catch one or two of you online this week.

I similarly didn't get online until late last night. Friday I completely forgot it was Good Friday and by the time we did dinner and some grocery shopping it was 10:30 PM by the time we got home. Then my wife said she wanted to play Rock Band.

Since her playing a game is rare I just play whatever she wants to play.

No wonder I didn't see you two playing Burnout last time then. :p

And yes, I knew there's a street that always has lots of cars parking on both sides of the road and I've been once nonsense enough to do a 581x near miss chain using those parked cars.

Last time when I was being a host, I started an Online Stunt Run with another player and I stopped continuing my stunt (after getting around 1 million points) when I saw them got eliminated. Some players just left my game room immediately after the freeburn game, but some will come to take my car down right after (revenge on beating them on Stunt Runs?).
Therefore, IMO, if we wanna have some fun online in Burnout, we better have our friends to play together (whenever it's possible), at least we can stay away from those who like taking others down for no reason. Personally I hate playing with those players. :yuck:

Continuing that theme andrewyhy, it's horrible when 7 out of the 8 players complete a challenge, and the 8th purposely does not complete it, then quits the game :yuck:

Yep, last time when I was about to get that "8 players meet at the Wildcat Baseball Stadium" trophy, the last player just kept messing around in other area of Paradise City and doesn't seem to join the rest of us at all! :indiff: Luckily I got that trophy later on with a group of "good players".

According to the Criterion Games website, the Cops and Robbers DLC is to be released on 30th April (Thursday)

It seems that as well as a new freeburn game mode, the DLC also gives new cop car liveries for every car in the game :D

Check out the latest Crash TV epidose below for more info

I fired up Burnout Paradise three nights ago for the first time in a while. I left it downloading the last patch - 250Mb! Stone the crows! I didn't read any release notes for it but that's a whopping download. I applied the PS3 update the following night and actually got to play it last night but got hit with a weird DNS error. I think my ISP was playing up last night. Beautiful game (on CRT even!) and great fun.

youtube video skipped :)

That's great news indeed! 👍
I hope this pack won't cost too much. :p

Unfortunately, I'm gonna have exams starting from April 30th... :indiff:

Sorry to hear that andrewyhy, mine start on 15th May :(

Hopefully the Island should be out soon after them to wipe away those blues :D

I'm absolutely excited. Now, if I could just finish the last four challenges before then.

Hopefully the Island should be out soon after them to wipe away those blues :D
I don't know if any of you have noticed, but they've been teasing us with the opening of the Island. Originally, there was no bridge. Then some of it showed up under construction. If you look at it now, it appears to be near completion.

I was online for about 1.5 hours yesterday, and the host was ready to take out one of my timed challenges, until his connection hiccup'd and we lost the group of players we had. :(

Considering it's Double XP points for this weekend, in COD: World at War, the PS3 will be under heavy use by the missus. And as such, I'll not be able to get online.

If I had the available cash, I'd have a 32" and a PS3 in my den and I could be playing as well. Maybe next year.

Bah. If it weren't for the no credit card dealy. I'd be first in line for the cops dlc.

Cheers mate!
And yeah, hope to see the release of the Big Surf Island by then. :D

I think you definitely need another PS3 and TV for yourself indeed, so that you won't have to wait for your wife to finish playing before you can play your games. ;)

On a good note, the missus left for work this morning, and after I'd fed the birds, done the dishes, and taken care of other thigns, I sat down, loaded up the game and hosted a session. The first group of guys that joined were all like minded guys and I slammed through all but one of my remaining timed challenges.

The final one I have to complete is the 8 Player Timed Challenge, #10. Lemmings. Every one get a Vertical takedown off Rockridge cliff.

489/490.

Of course, as my luck goes, I won't get this done, until they release Cops & Robbers and the Island with new challenges. So I'll have even more to finish. At least this makes for a great game.

Glad to hear that from you mate. ;)
It's pretty hard to get all 7 other players to complete the challenges together with the host, except for those like-minded people. Wish you good luck to finish off your remaining timed challenge. 👍

I've finally got a USB camera now, it can be detected by the PS3 when I go to "Setting>Accessory Settings>Camera Device Settings" in the XMB. But when I load up Burnout, it doesn't recognize my camera and can't perform the photo for my driving license (I've tested this with a new game save), not to mention the Smug/Mugshot thing. Is it the game can only recognize the PS Eye as the camera?! :ouch:

I really wanna get the very last original trophy of sending a Smugshot/Mugshot to another player during online and get my Platinum Trophy of Burnout. Anyone can help? :nervous:

Sorry to hear that andrewyhy!

I've just bought the PS Eye during my break at college, so I will be able to get the Platinum trophy tonight! :D

well... I'm thinking whether I should really get one (PS Eye) for myself now. :indiff:

andrewyhy, I've done a quick google search but I can't find anything that says what cameras Burnout supports.

It seems strange that even though your PS3 can find the camera, burnout cannot... :indiff:

And when I came to set mine up about an hour ago, it worked fine which suggests that nothing needs to be done with the settings to get Burnout to find the camera.

It is very strange indeed :dunce:

Yes indeed. When I go to the Camera Device Setting, the PS3 can detect my camera and I'm able to set the flicker reduction rate to "Off/Camera Default Settings/50Hz/60Hz". And there's a green light on when I get there (at the setting screen). However, the green light goes off when I get back to the XMB as well as loading into the game. That's why I'm so confused about the camera... :ouch:

FYI, the camera I'm using is Microsoft LifeCam VX-700. :)

BTW, are you using the PS Eye as your camera? :dunce:

I am using the PS Eye as my camera, but I can't understand why Burnout won't work with your camera if the PS3 can...

I've googled about setting up a camera for Burnout, but nothing has come up.

Is it worth emailing the developers, Criterion Games, to see if they can shed any light on this?

Apparently they are usually very good when responding to emails, so it might be worth a shot. 💡

I should send an email to Criterion Games to see whether they can help me out on this issue. Hehe. :D Thanks mate!
