That sounded very simple.:sly:

Thankfully it is, as it would bite if you had to start all over from scratch, at least involuntarily, as some games are fun to start all over again.

Granted, if it had been some trophy that requires you to have already finished a large chunk of the game, and you have no interest in doing it all over again, then that might not be so fun. :indiff:

Fortunately in this case, it shouldn't take but a few minutes to get that trophy, even with the starter car.

Sorry to double post but does anyone still play this online? I'm trying to get all the online Freeburn challenges done now so I always need people to play with.

i need that trophy too. haven't started the game yet though. Is it possible to do these trophies from the start?

I have the Platinum, I'm just doing challenges for 100% although I'd be happy to help you with any you need. You can do online trophies from the start exept you wont have a very good car.

I picked up Burnout Paradise on the PS3 earlier this week. What do I need to do? :)

A LOT!

Get in your car and drive around looking for Fuel stations (boost), Junkyards (switch cars), Garages (fix your car) and Paint Shops (duh).

Enter online by pressing the right digital button.

Enter Road Rages and crash into the other racers to wreck them. Once you get the limit you need, just wreck to get out. Don't forget to enter Garages to fix your car up from time to time. You enter road rages by looking for the 'red circles' at intersections on your map and drive to it. Push both L2 and R2 at the same time to enter the challenge. The more challenges you complete, the more points you get to earn a new license.

First explore all around and get a feel for the game. Ask DA and Ceiling_fan, they'll tell you more what to do.

Is there a map of all the burnout events? I did a drive around and am sure i crossed every road but only have 115/120 events found.

edit: incase anybody wants to know where anything is that they are missing

http://www.senocular.com/burnout/

Also I'd like to organise a meetup for anyone interested to get the meet 8 players in wildcat stadium trophy.

If you are interested being to help or need the trophy yourself please post on here or pm me.

It seems there is also a trophy to do an 8 player meet up and ride a bike 10 miles so maybe we can do a bit of a cruise around paradise city on a bike?

I'd be interested in a meetup although I already have both those trophies

I'm in. just need 4 more trophies to finish :ouch: only 1 event i havent found and i have no freakin clue where it is lol

Burnout paradise meet and ride

This is an online meet up for all those who need the meet at the wildcat stadium trophy and the ride 10 miles with 8 players on a bike trophy. Will also do some races for anyone that is interested

We really do need 8 players for this so if you can come please do.

When: 8pm GMT on Sunday 1st February 2009
What to bring: A bike for a start then afterwards will change to cars for some further races
What you need to do to join us: add me to your psn before the meet. PSN is to the left of this.

I'll be unavailable that week, so I won't be able to join you all.

However, on that note, I do have some questions for all you BP online pros. I'm only now starting to play the online events for BP, but other than the freeburn challenges, I'm having a hard time finding any of the online Stunt Run, Marked Man, and Road Rage events that are referred to in the Trophy List.

When I press the right arrow button and select Freeburn Online and then Search, I typically see the following:
  • Freeburn Online
  • Freeburn Challenges
  • Freeburn Road Rage
  • Freeburn Stunt Run
However, despite joining each of these and participating in the events/challenges the host selects, so far I still have yet to earn any of the following:
  • Take part in an Online Stunt Run
  • Take part in an Online Marked Man
  • Be on the Blue team for Online Road Rage
  • Be on the Red team for Online Road Rage
  • Complete your first Timed Challenge
  • Complete 10 Timed Challenges
  • Complete 5 Bike Challenges
These all seem simple enough, but after playing several hours on Freeburn Online, including Stunt Run, Marked Man, and Road Rage online events, it's not awarding me any of them. :odd:

Also, how can you find out exactly what challenges you have finished? My stats just say how many I have finished (22) and how many there are (490).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Speaking of stats, so far I've done all the jumps, broken all the billboards, and smashed all the gates except for two. One of the missing gates is somewhere in Silver Lake and the other in Harbor Town. I've looked everywhere and even used the online maps and still can't find those two missing gates. :ouch:

I could also really use some advice on getting the x4 Boost Chain. I can get up to x3, but no further. :indiff:

Is there a particular car and route anyone can recommend?

What I did is set up a 2 player freeburn online and then create a race with traffic off, but instead of doing the race I drove the wrong way around the I-88. If you need someone to do it with then feel free to add me.

Pause then press R1 twice to get onto the 'Paradise City Online' menu then select 'View Challenges'

Are you acctully competing in online stunt runs and marked mans etc. or is it just freeburn challenges (eg. drift 50 yards) because they are different things.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. 👍

I'll try that out. Now is that in any mode, or only while playing Freeburn Online mode?

That's the rub. I guess I'm not sure. I know that I have joined games where it listed them as stunt runs and marked mans etc, but clearly I am not doing something right. :indiff:

I even tried creating my own online game as the host, but the only option I could find was to do races. I didn't see any option for creating stunt runs or marked man runs, etc.

you can check your challenges online or offline. i still need 5 more timed challenges myself but did the 10 freeburn or whatever challenges. oh, i also still need to do road rage to finish up all trophies for this game.

i'll be on tonight after class (10pm ct). psn name is under my av. i'll host if anyone wants and try to finish some more events

You can also press select to just go straight to your map and see what races you ahve done/haven't done.

i havent really tried online but from pausing and pressing r1 to go to the map screen and just pressing select goes to the same screen

I'd like to join in, but I can't because of the time. I have to work Monday, as usual. :(

Thanks, I did that and it shows that I have not completed any of the 70 online timed challenges... which is very odd, but there it is.

It also says I have completed 19 of the 350 Freeburn Challenges:
  • 0x 2-player
  • 5x 3-player
  • 5x 4-player
  • 5x 5-player
  • 1x 6-player
  • 3x 7-player
  • 0x 8-player
However, not only am I still not seeing where in these stats does it list the possible online Stunt Run, Marked Man, and Road Rage events that I must do to get 100% completion as well as the trophies, but the other odd thing is that it says I have completed 22 (not 19) online challenges out of a possible 490 (not 420). :odd:

I'm gussing the extra 3 challenges I completed and the other 70 possible challenges must be listed somewhere else?

I have to say... the BP menu system, stats, and online game listings are making me feel rather dim and or unimpressed with this part of an otherwise very entertaining game. :indiff:

Online events such as Stunt Run are not listed with challenges. The 70 challenges you can't see will probably be the bike ones.

Well last night I tried again, and after two hours of joining and playing various online Freeburn events I got no where fast. I think I may know what the problem is though. I noticed that the search listing is not always accurate as far as what challenge or event the host was currently playing... but worse yet, in the games I joined... there was always someone who wouldn't do the challenge and thus apparently why I was not getting any credit for the challenges. :ouch:

So often all anyone wants to do is takedown each other. *sigh*

I'm hoping it's just bad luck. :indiff:

GM
Online events such as Stunt Run are not listed with challenges.

So how do you know how many if any online (not offline) Stunt Runs, Marked Man, and Road Rage events you have done?

Also as a host, how do you start any of those? All I see is the option to create a race and to start one of the listed challenges.

GM
The 70 challenges you can't see will probably be the bike ones.

That makes sense about the 70 challenges, as well as the 3 that I did that were not listed. I suspect if I switched to a bike I would see these. 👍

I had issues finding/joining Stunt Run, Marked Man and Road Rage events too. For some reason I was unable to start my own lobby for those events, yet somehow I could start Freeburn and Race events  What I did was do some single player events then check again and see if any lobbies had open and eventually they did. :indiff:

Still sour about not having a platinum because I don't have a USB camera. I know I could get a cheapo one, but I don't want to pay for something I'll use once... if something comes out that warrants a purchase I'll get it then.

We use the PS Eye on a regular basis for video chats and for in-game audio chat, as it has a very high quality multiple array microphone, much better than most headphones/headsets/Bluetooth that can cost four times as much. 👍

That said, there are also a lot of games that use the PS Eye quite effectively, in fact a few would be impossible to play without the camera. The list of supported games is not current, but there is a lot of info about the PS3 Eye here.

As much use as we get out of it, and the quality of it, I would not have been disappointed to have paid as much as $100 for it. Instead, we got it for a lot less as it was packaged with the Eye of Judgment game. 👍

GM
Right Arrow > Select Challenge > Timed/Freeburn challenges

As I posted earlier, I did that, and it only shows the Timed/Freeburn challenges. Where does it list the online Stunt Run, Marked Man and Road Rage events, or are they all mixed in with all the Freeburn challenges, and if so, how do you know which is which?

I'm sure for those that have successfully done these, it may seem obvious, and hopefully I'll feel that way as well at some point. :indiff:

I could also really use some advice on getting the x4 Boost Chain. I can get up to x3, but no further. :indiff:

The way I managed this (I think I've got x23 boost chain) is using the Walmart Racer, into oncoming traffic, on I-88. Using only the Boost key, and not the accelerator, you burn through boost faster, and not build up so much speed. In addition, you can tap the brakes while boosting to slow you down a bit and still maintain the boost. The Racer is very controllable and easily maunevarable making the run fairly easy.

I'm checking timezones, but would like to join in the Feb 1st party.

I noticed that the search listing is not always accurate as far as what challenge or event the host was currently playing... but worse yet, in the games I joined... there was always someone who wouldn't do the challenge and thus apparently why I was not getting any credit for the challenges. :ouch:
If the host quits the challenge, no credit is given. If everyone completes it, the award is given. If someone quits before the challenge is complete, it will often still give credit to the remaining players when completed.
