I'm off all next week, so I may be looking for people to play with. I have to find two events and get my Burnout license (19 more events to go) to get all trophies that don't involve online. After that I am just the online trophies away from a platinum and will be looking to earn it.

I need to go back through this thread, but is there a map of all events anywhere? I am missing two and I am finding that not all intersections have street lights/events. So there are two intersections somewhere that I haven't been though yet.

A quick google brings up this:
Burnout-Event-Map.jpg

A quick tip first, have you driven around the I-88 fully? IIRC, there are a few events on the I-88 itself.

Is it ok if I add you online FoolKiller too?

Sorry to hear about that Der Alta.

Look forward to seeing you all on the Island soon,

Thanks. I figured it was out there and just hadn't taken the time to look yet.

Yeah, I am pretty sure I have been all the way around it. I'll give it another look, but I know I have already done some of the events on I-88.

Please, feel free to add me.

No problems! And thanks!

I just popped the disc in and it said update 1.90 was ready to be downloaded. 413 mb.

Took about 2.5 minutes for me. It shows one of the new cars, (9 total) and it shows the open access to the island, but I can't buy access to the download. Appreantly its not in the playstation store yet. and its $12.99 (US dollars). ALso, the new trophies showed up in my list.

I've got a load of work to get done today and tomorrow is my day with the missus. So that means Saturday I'll attack the Island.

So...it's the 11th. Anyone have the island yet? I'll be downloading it when I get home. What's it cost?

Apparently, the Island isn't available until the US Playstation Store updates, and has nothing to do with Burnout itself.

From what I have played it is incredibly good, with the Dust Storm suiting the terrain well. I'm off to go and play some more now!

See you on the Island! :D

Well, with the aid of the map I found the two missing events and I now have 5 more wins to my Burnout License. After that I will likely get the Island and work on the online trophies.

I've got a few cops&Robbers trophies to conquer, and it looks like I'll have tuesday-Thursday of next week off. If I'm on don't feel bashful about dropping an invite.

Do I need cops and robbers too in order to help you out with that?

I'll eventually get all the DLC, so I was thinking of grabbing another with The Island.

The 360 update is 1.2gb...what's the deal there then? My download also keeps starting and stopping at random, it's really bugging me. It's going to take a ridiculous amount of time to download :(

When did you do your last update? Cops and Robbers added a large chunk too.

But yeah, different consoles have different size files. MTV's Multiplayer tried a speed comparison using Mega Man and each file was a different size for each console.

I updated it last week when I bought myself some toy cars and I had cops and robbers then, so it's not that causing the bigger file. It's been going for about half an hour and is only at 6% complete. :(

To my knowledge the 360 is not getting any additional stuff, so I don't know.

The only other thing I can think of is that the 360 does not use install files, while the PS3 does, so the PS3 file could be heavily compressed, or the 360 file has the installer built in.

So then guys is the island worth how ever much you paid for it? I've been playing other games atm, I think I'll check out the DLC line up before buying, I reckon the island will be my first purchase apart from the legendary cars. I finish college for the summer on 1st July, so I'll have two months of fun. I'll post when I download it, so hopefully see you guys on the island!

Just had a play for an hour on the 360 version and although it's fun you don't get a lot of land for your money. I explored the entire island within about 30 minutes, and I've already done most of the jumps, smashes and billboards. I've no doubt it's brilliant online though and will be trying that soon.

The ATV you get at first is great fun though, it's fairly quick and very nimble. Oh, and there are a lot of very very big jumps to jump off which are a good laugh. And a spiral carpark that you can drift up until you get to the roof.

It's the size of downtown, not to mention all the rooftop acccess, with nine new cars. Compared to the full game launch of $60 I think it is reasonable for the price. $9.99 would have been better in my opinion though, but I feel it was good.

So my Burnout License has been earned and my only trophies left to get platinum are online trophies. I'll need help with that next week likely. I'm going to spend this weekend working toward my Burnout elite so that I can have more cars.

Completed all signboards on Surf Island today which got me the
Toy Jensen 88 Special
and have 1 super jump and 5 smashes to go to complete them.

Excellent. Hopefully I'll see you online. I get my PM's here forward to my blackberry. If you decide to jump online and race, drop me a PM here, and I'll join up within minutes. Unless I'm at the Gym or cleaning bird cages.

I had a good run about the island late last night and it was great. It didn't take me long to bomb around the whole island and fund a bunch of stuff, but it looks like there are so many shortcuts for races that its going to take a month or so for me to sort them all out.

For $12.99, I think its the best value yet.

I'm hoping it lasts for a few months as after this, I either restart or I begin working my way through COD: WaW.

For anyone who is interested, Burnoutwikia.com have a page showing all the new island cars and how to get them: http://burnout.wikia.com/wiki/Big_Surf_Island_(Update)

The island is growing on me even more I think, and it's nice to still be finding all the little areas I haven't found before.

For anyone who hasn't, please feel free to add me to the PSN to play!

I have to admit that discovering 4 cars were toy versions of the Legendary Cars made me feel disappointed, as that isn't really new. But after thinking about it I realize that by completing the Island and winning them I get a chance to sort of test both Legendary Cars and Toy Cars to determine if I feel the packs will be worth it.

And that may have been part of their goal. Many more people will buy Big Surf Island than either of those two packs, so it works as an incentive to make people want to buy them. 👍

I had similar thoughts too, and it is nice to see that the Big Surf Toy Cars do count towards the toy cars trophies too!

The inclusion of the toy cars and legendary cars has interested me in their respective packs, but compared to the Island I cannot really justify the price of them.

I finished all of the billboards and smashes last night before bed. Loving one of the toy cars. Without saying too much, because I have no idea how to do the "spoiler" thing, I will just say that I'm a big fan of the movie so I'm having a blast with the car. :dopey:

Edit: "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads."

:D

Well, I tackled more of it last night. Kncoked all of the Mega Jumps out, nailed a few of the trophies, collected all of the Billboards and cleaned out the "Showtime" and "Road Rules". The last thing I'm missing one smash in Perrens Point. Which looks to be half of the Island. I'll send the missus shopping tonight and that should give me some time to find it.

I've finished all the races, and have done one road rage and one Stunt run. I've got to plan a few of those out and find some good runs before I get into those. Then its time for the Marked man and Road Rage events.

After that, its time for some online challenges. :D

Looking forward to those.

Right, long post coming up (and a bit of spoiler too, so if you haven't got 100% on your Island license then I suggest skip this post).

I downloaded the Island on Friday and set out to complete the offline part. First thing I noticed was the menu colours are much better than I thought, the orange is lighter than the previous one and the blue accenting softens it a bit (I hope Criterion would release a patch that allows us to change themes though, but I doubt it). Offline didn't took me long (around 4 hours or so) and then I proceeded to do the online challenges. There's only 10 of them so with the help of a friend I knocked them off pretty easily. For the price you pay, I think the Island is definitely the best bang-for-your-buck DLC so far. It might not add much to gameplay hours, but in terms of content and enjoyment it's the best IMO. The new jumps and parking towers (especially the Big Ski Jump, Paradise Keys Jump and Inspiral Tower) just puts a smile on my face everytime.

Surprisingly, I didn't took that long to find all collectibles. I thought the Island is going to have lots of hidden smashes and hard-to-reach billboards, but it's actually pretty straightforward. I don't know if it's just luck, but I remember having much more trouble finding all collectibles on the mainland. Criterion also seems to have lowered the difficulties of events. I crashed close to 10 times :scared: in one race and still won by quite a large margin (using the Dust Storm). I also won the Stunt Runs quite easily despite the target score being over 1 million (and I'm a horrible at Stunt Runs). The only one I found difficult is Road Rages, but that's because I couldn't get to the I-88 .

For the 9 new cars, people have mixed opinions on this one. I did some exploring on Burnout Wiki (thanks for the link Super_Spig, it's a great site 👍), and most of the people in the forums feel disappointed that they're recycled cars. I personally couldn't be happier. The Dust Storms are great stunt cars (great sound too), Toy Legendaries are just epic, and the Street Rod is much better than I thought. The Olympus is meh, but you can't have everything I guess. And the final car is just....amazing, that's all I could say (you'll have to discover it yourself once you get 500/500 ;)). I'm a bit annoyed that they didn't make an offline version of the Rai-Jin, but I can live with it.

So I'm done with Burnout. And since this is the final DLC I can finally rest a bit (from gaming that is, schoolwork is piling up ). I'll be mostly helping out with online challenges from now on, so if any of you see me online, feel free to send an invite 👍.

I'm still missing one Mega Jump and I can't find it anywhere! Has anyone made a map of the locations of them all yet?

None that I know of, yet. In which area are you missing one? Have you tried looking at the top of the Holness Hotel? It's near the middle of the island. You go up the roof and jump off, there's a Mega Jump hanging in mid-air (like the Paradise Keys Bridge's second ramp).

Do you know where about's in the Island the last one is?

If you pause and cycle through the menus, one will tell you which jumps, smashes and billboards have been done in the 5 'areas' of the Island.

It might help us to narrow it down a bit! ;)

I have found all smashes, billboards and jumps. On to the road rules and events now.

If you hit the Start button it will bring you to your license menu, then scroll down to discoveries to see which zone your missing items are in. Not that it helps if it is a jump you thought you already did, a smash that is hidden, or a billboard that is hard to find...all three of which I ran into at some point last night.

That's the last one I did, I'm still missing one. It's definitely on the island though.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look now and report back.

EDIT: It's in 'South Coast', I think it might be in the construction yard somewhere.

EDIT 2: I got it, it was acessed from Perren's Point but counted as a South Coast jump. Now only the smashes to go.

EDIT 3: Got all the smashes within a few minutes!

I started tonight finishing off my "Island Tour" races, and then the three Marked Man events. These were easy, once I figured out that I should hit hte bridge and aim for the mainland. Often times picking up four takedowns on the bridge. I used the GT Flame for it.

I then jumped online. ran into two people online tonight that helped me through 9 of the 10 online challenges. Leaving only Challenge #8 to finish. So close...

Crossed paths with ScaffUK, but just as he was leaving. Maybe next time.

Very much enjoyed this DLC. I have't checked my trophies yet, so I'll make sure they are all complete after the last challenge.

Then its a flip of the coin to see if I want to pay the cash for the "Party Pack" and get those trophies.
