Is the saving worth buying a second hand wheel or not, on higher end wheels and pedals, the general saving is around £100 but would I still be better to purchase new?

It depends... If you buy a refurbished one then I would recommend if it was from the manufacturer. But maybe not off eBay.

I,beleive Logitech does refurbished wheels

I think you can get some very good deals by buying 2nd had wheels. I have been upgrading my sim rig and I sell my used equipment on eBay. I sold a DFGT to buy a G27 and the DFGT was in perfect working order. I just purchased a CSR-E to replace the G27. The G27 is about one year old and works as new.

I think you have to find out from the seller a little about why the equipment is for sale.

I think it's a good way to save money when it's a wheel that generally is known to hold up well. I like to think most sim wheel owners take care of the gear as well. Like many I've sold wheels as I've upgraded or changed. Without exception all my wheels were well taken care of and all my buyers always commented on how my stuff looked like new.

In reality though with higher end wheels you're not saving a lot of money. The most I "lost" on any wheel I've sold was $60. I've been fortunate hat I've gotten many of my wheels on sale somewhere and in a couple cases I actually broke even or made money when I sold.

It depends on how long they have owned it. If by higher end wheels you mean Frex and ECCI then all I would say is go for the ECCI. From what I have had, Frex Gen 1 wheels have some small issues (bearings IIRC). ECCIs are built like a rock. If you are looking for a T500RS I would say go for it. They have not been out long enough to encounter any serious problems. I would stay away from a G25. Mine is a launch model, it looks new, but it sure as hell does not perform like new.

I kept trying to find the perfect deal on a second hand wheel on Ebay.

After about 2 months a G25 appeared buy it now for £75.00.

I bought it. It as missing the centre logitech badge abd the cap off the top of the gearstick. Both easily replaced.

I am still using it 2 years later. My 2 pennies worth....Keep searching. :)
