buying a TVR

True true it's not all about raw power some people need to grasp this fact

A bit like the Speed 24 eh TVR king Quote 0 to 60 in 7minutes due to the wheel spins :lol:

well i've got my Tuscan and am still trying to get over the adrenaline rush from driving it home on Tuesday. i decided to give it a run through the country roads in Henley about 15 mins from me. i wasnt expecting it to handle as good as my M5 but it did, and i couldent believe how much grip there was. coming out of a few sharp bends i managed to get the arse end out :lol: , but i must admit am still having a hard time getting use to the gearbox but i'll get use to it eventually. i'm not very good at writing reviews so if you guys have any questions about it, just ask :)
 
Well the McLaren has 627 brake horse power, and the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 has about 800(if I remember right). I know that the Speed 12 would out accelerate the McLaren. McLaren's 0-60 is 3.4 I beleive the Speed 12's is 3.2? Very close. As for the top speeds: McLaren has the reported top speed of being 241, though magazines say it only goes 220??? The TVR is said to have a speed of 230mph. Though I remember hearing it can go 240mph. For some reason in GT3 it wont get near that!!!

Well, now that I just repeated everything you all ready knew. I think that this would be a good match (The McLaren vs. Speed 12). I think that 1/4mile it would be too close for comfort. Top Speed...I think the McLaren MIGHT have it.

Hows it for handling understeer/ oversteer.. I would think it would have loads of oversteer but oversteer is a good thing methinks

How good is it off the mark? wheel spin etc
 
yeh its loads of fun thanks, the car does oversteer (but you would expect that with any high powered FR car) but it still has loads of grip and you really have to upset it to get the back end out, as for off the mark acceleration then it seems to pull away very well. when i brought it home on tuesday it was pouring down but i still managed to pull away very quickly from the lights with minimum wheel spin (and destroy some boy racer thinking he was fast in his 1.3 nissan micra :lol: )
i also found the brakes to be very good, the pedal has a nice feel and they bite instantly which i like. the noise is amazing, every time you touch the throttle it sounds like a jet fighter landing in your boot :)
my only problem is with the gearbox, its really notchy but am guessing its because am not use to it or it needs time to bed in.
all in all the car is great. :)
 
Have you done a 0-60 test? How fast have you gotten it? And what color did you end up getting? One more thing: Can you post a pic of it?

well the fastest ive been so far was 140mph down the motorway to work, a bit scary i might add but the road was clear. no i havent done a 0 - 60 time but when i pulled off in the wet i counted as the speedo rised and that was around 5 sec, not to bad for the wet but i know its definetly capable of quicker times. i decided to get black for the colour, it just seems to suit it so well and yes i will take pics tomorow :)

Sounds the biz dude .

I would love to hear the engine at 5000rpm must be mind blowing

I reckon the gear box and engine will need time to bed in ..normally after a 1000 or so k's on the clock it should be sweet by then

Driving it in the wet must be scary :eek:

Any more developments on you mates 911??

His car can apparently go from 0 to 100 in 9.2 sec's Tuscan can do it in 9.3 sec's but i still believe that the Tuscan will beat it

Im sure the 911 is all wheel drive yes??

FR's can beat 4x4.s anyday especially if it's a dry track ;)
 
well he still thinks that his porsche can beat my tuscan so to prove it hes hired an airfield for the day a week saturday so we'll soon know. i'm going to take my video camera with me and film it so that when i beat him we can have the pleasure of watching it again and again :lol:
the tuscan isnt to bad in the wet, well not as bad as i thought it would be but you still have to be careful round sharp bends in low gears (nearly had a wet pants incident yesterday going round a sharp u - bend) but as long as you take it easy in low gears then its fine.
 
What type of 911? The turbo? If so, you might be in for a challenge! But if it's just another 911, then it will be real close, but you better hope he isnt practicing!
 
its a turbo, but i'm not to worried now after doing 0 - 60 in about 5 sec in the wet, my M5 use to be able to keep up with his 911 and that accelerated like a skip compared to the tuscan
 
The 911 should do 0-60 under 4.5 seconds for an amatuer! So, either he cant drive, or he needs a new car!
 
he's had his car about 3 years now but the performance shouldent have gone down that much mind you hes not really an enthusiastic driver like us :)
he buys cars for their flash factor rather than to drive them
 
no not really but he can still get his porsch away quite fast, do you know what the top speed of a 911 turbo is? and how much power it has?
 
I think the 911 has 420 BHP a 30 BHP advantage not sure of top speed though

thanks for the help, i think if i can get use to this gearbox then i will probarly kill his porsche, but the engine in my tvr hasnt had time to break in really so i'm probarly at a disadvantage there
