I hadn't thought of it that way.

My point however, is that I reckon Rockstar took out the drug stuff not because anyone was likely to do drugs because of the game, but because drugs are the kind of thing that people complain about, rightly or wrongly. The safe thing is to just remove it from the game. Violence in games isn't new so another ultraviolent game on the market isn't going to raise a lot of eyebrows, but one where the main character can buy drugs or smoke cigarettes, will get the what-about-the-children crowd complaining.

Its the debate, just cause alchohol is legel does it make it right to promote it over drugs?.
I have had both good and bad experiences with both, the difference being one is legal and assosciated with allsorts of positive things in the media(we've all seen the alcohol commercials) and the other has this negative social stigma, i.e you do drugs you'll become a loser and your life will be destroyed.
So im guessing they took it out for the reason that there is such a negative attitude towards drugs that imediately it would raise contraversy.
Regardles of the fact that most of the Grove st homies walk the street with 40's, that in my opinion would screw you up more than toking on a joint but thats society i guess!.

Also drugs such as coke and speed etc would no doubt reck your life, however pot causes lots of contreversy on how bad is it really. Is it as bad as the media make it out, is pot worse than alcohol. Who knows. But as R32GTS/M said, drugs raise a lot more controversy than alcohol.

Of course, why put you neck out more than you would anyway for creating such a violent game? There's really no logic in putting something in that most people would use maybe once or twice when it would cause alot of negative attention.

I have to agree with KM here (fnarr fnarr) and say that his opinion so far has been spot on, i would like to add though that we are all slightly missing the point in the great alcohol/drugs debate as it is the decision of the powers that be as to what society can consume and what it cant, therefore they are exerting control over us as they see fit and/or appropriate to boost their economies.

Alcohol will kill you if you drive whilst pished, dope will leave you satisfied with a mediocre lifestyle if you dont get off it and earn some proper dough at some point in your career, ( i speak from experience) and because its mainly smoked to be consumed, it is therefore more harmful to you than drink, unless drinking is done to the extreme.

I have watched the entire country get drunk and rave at the football while the world cup is on, and hated every minute of it, i loathe being english sometimes, especially while im abroad, but if we put all those people on dope instead of pish material, they would be hiding in their living rooms giggling at the TV footie, and then having a week in bed sleeping to recover from the excitement, followed by them scoring from a supplier whose substances come from another country which our country would have to be paying all kinds of cash to, to import the gear from, and our structured economy would be ruined, meaning the great reputation of where i come from wouldnt be worth a poo in the grand scheme of things and we would cease to be classed as a modern nation/superpower/significant bit of soil.
Which is all the politicians are worried about anyway.

We only buy alcohol and do drugs on the quiet because thats the way the governments want it.

SEE?
