Cache

It's due to the fact that the online team for PD are constantly working on the updates and it leaves behind "cooookiesss" or whatever sort of data that gets left behind. "Clear system cache" deletes the unnecessary data. It's the best I can describe it because I'm not a tech guy at all. I just read information.

I tried it last night and it ran for about 15 mins without doing anything so I turned it off. It has never been cleared ?

That's really weird. I just searched google and it should actually take longer than lightning fast :dunce:. Try it again and let it run its time. I just never had it take any longer than 2 seconds or so. My apologies.

Options>Other>Network>Clear System Cache

The system cache is temporary data for update data log files and other user data that you may come across while online. Clearing the system cache deletes this data allowing for faster and more stable loading. Remember, it's not the same thing as installed game data.

Well I thought it should not take very long either but it was taking so long I got a little worried it might be deleting all of my game levels

I should take no more than 15 to 30 seconds depending on what type of data it is, how big the data is, and how many files there are. 1 minute tops. If it takes more than 1 minute, you may have currupted install data (not save data). I could be worng, but time wise, should only take what I said before.

Yeah it can take a long time if its never been cleared. I've had it take around 5 minutes before.

I Got the fat ps3, got it when it 1st came out. And i Never Cleared ANY cache stuff ever. Mine might take like 3 hours then to clear...??? lol Never had a problem should i do it anyway??:nervous: It could be the glue keepin my PS3 together:sly:

Well it took a 1/2 hr to clear the cache I just started it and walked away came back 35 mjn and it just finished. I guess I will have to clear it every day.

No not every day. Once a week unless you remote race a lot. I didn't really know that, until McClarenDesign mentioned that. This I AM sure of now.

May help if you do a ton of online racing too. I haven't noticed much of a difference if you're spending your time offline, such as the recent outage.
