Here is a list of the content for Elite, denoting what is free and what is part of the yearly fee. Personally, I find it to be fair all around. You get a lot for free, and if you're really hardcore into CoD then you get your money's worth if you decide to pay. I even feel that it's worth the price if you're considering picking up some of the DLC anyway. You'll get what's sounding like $60 worth of DLC for $50. And, it might even be possible though I'm sure there are procedures in place to prevent it, you could possibly get even more DLC for that $50 if you wait and pay for Elite 6 or 8 months down the road. You'll get all the MW3 DLC, and maybe whatever DLC is released for the next CoD if it comes out while your subscription is still running.

Anyway, on to the list.

Anyone else got into the beta yet? I signed up a while back and finally got my welcome email this afternoon. Spent a little time checking it out and so far it's decent.

The career section shows all your stats, recent games, etc. I don't think there's anything here that isn't available via the in game combat record. The information is nicely laid out though so it is much more accessible and easier to browse through compared to the combat record in game.

The connect section allows you to watch and comment on player clips. You can also create or join groups. I made a GTPlanet group if anyone wants to join. There is a clan section but that's not available yet.

The improve section is decent, giving you info on everything from weapon attachments to game modes. Doesn't really tell you anything incredibly useful. You can get much more detailed information from the call of duty wikia page.

The compete section already has a few competitions up to earn badges for your Showcase. One of them has you going for the highest kill count in Team Deathmatch in a 3 hour session between 3.pm and 6pm on the 17th. Top player gets a special badge while the others get gold, silver, bronze or nothing depending on their performance. I doubt the badges can be used for anything. They're probably just for bragging rights similar to trophies/achievements.

I'm onto step two of the COD:Elite registration where I've gotta link my account, I put in my PSN account details and then, back on the Activision site it says that I can't get the stuff verified

Edit: I can link with my GTP account but not Lazer0pz! The 🤬?

I'm kind of in the middle on this one. If you want me to pay, it better be spectacular, and nothing I've read or heard so far sounds like something I'd be in line to purchase.

This is what I'm leaning to as well. I like the concept and idea of it but it isn't worth it to me as I barely get on Black Ops anymore but this may change if MW3 is going to be really good.

How do you get into the MW3 beta?

I think it depends if all someone plays is COD then it's probably worth it cause you get the map packs including in it and before anyone else, saying that i play a lot of COD and don't think it's worth it much rather spend the money on something else. Theatre modes and stat tracking not my thing i just pick up and play.

Strangely enough when I got to the step where you have to enter additional information I kept getting some error message about my phone number being invalid despite the fact that there wasn't even a place to enter a phone number. So after that I kinda wrote it off and didn't bother with it anymore. Now yesterday I see the Welcome email so I guess something must have gone through. :dunce:

Just started using Elite and have to admit it is pretty good and introduces a more intelligent side to CoD. I like how they have integrated new features such as Groups and Events into the game and produced some detailed statistics for each match, sure it looks like complete jargon, but for me it has gave the game a new lease of life as I haven't played it for about 3 or 4 months. Once they integrate Elite into the actual game it should be a lot more impressive, even though it's a good feature I hate going onto a website to check all these details while I'm in game.

Btw, just joined your GTPlanet group 👍

I'm pretty sure that Elite is open to all now, so I sign up with my account (the one that couldn't link up before strangely). I click on 'Enter COD: Elite' and it just redirects me to the Edit Profile page :grumpy:

I agree that it's a joke. I'm actually sick of Call of Duty in general. I'm getting it for Survival and Singleplayer only. I'll try online but I think it looks like crap. It pretty much goes like this every year. Buy the new game, love it, start hating it, complain about it, preorder next game and say how much better it will be, get the next game, love it, complain about it, and you get the point. Happened every year since World at War.

But BO and W@W has Zombies :dopey:. I only play BO online because I consider myself fairly good (none of this 2nd Chance or Quick Scoping BS). And when I get BF3, I'll only play BO for Zombies.

And to be on topic, I want Zombies stats to be in Elite :D

Hey man, that hurt a little bit, I use second chance. :p

Anyway, about Elite, one of the biggest advantages I see to it is that you get all the map packs when they release for free. (Comes with the membership) In the end you save $15. It still hurts the wallet though, a $60 game on top of a $50 membership. :ouch:

Just put an extra $35 down on my preorder, and the guy tried selling me something and as soon I saw it was CoD: Elite, I tried holding back a smile  and he also said there are 20 DLCs. I think because they know how many DLCs are going to be in the game, they are already made and just being planned to be released for more money. I find this really greedy and I really don't feel like paying for this game more than twice. And he also said it would be maps and also gun stuff and other things and etc. This is sort of why I like Battlefield. The online pass you need to buy if you buy the game used I think, but it's $15 and you get the DLC maps. CoD: $59.99 for CoD: Elite or more if you buy the DLC without it. So that might end up having to pay the same price of the game or more if you want all of the DLC.

Nice concept for Elite, but it's not something I personally want or need.

Elite just seems like another gimmick to make more money by Activision.

YOu dont think EA planned out DLC too unfortunatly all of the game companies do that now from naughty dog to rocksteady to capcom its unforntunaly the way it works so why make a villian out of activision. Hell look at all of EA games every freaking need for speed dlc has been like that forever.

Because that's taking it to the extreme. "To play the other maps in the game you will have to subscribe to our service and pay a fee." I mean $59.99 for extra 20 DLCs? Talk about paying for a game twice. EA has like day one car DLC and stuff though right?

They also make it that you don't have to get the DLC and you can see them in game.

Full game for MW3 = $120+ ?

you dont have to get elite to get the game dlc maps so you dont have to subscrie to the service manyparts of eleite actually are free
MW3 plus eliete is 99 bucks it may have gone up now( actually it has look at amazon)
Nobody is putting a gun to your head dont get it if youdont want it if you want it then save up and get it I couldnt afford it the only reason I could is my freind preordered it as a gift. Dont hate and be bitter.

I'm not hating and being bitter, it's just that $60.00 for in game content probably would be hardly worth the price of the game again and $120+ is alot for a bundle on one game.

And say Polyphony Digital took out say 15 or 30 of the 60 tracks in GT5 and put them into say a day one DLC package to make more money, that's what Activision is doing with Call of Duty.

facepalm again cowboy i am going to be very very honest with you I have played all the cod games on ps2 and this system(PS3) MW3 is the first one that i have gotten the extra content on. my co-worker sitting right across from me is the same way. there is more than enough content in all of the older ones with out their dlc there always has been especially with spec ops and different modes available this time around. if you had preordered the game(hardend) you wouldnt be paying 120 bucks. Polyphyny digital has Alot of tracks that should have been in the game( covered in another thread) when shippin and now we are seeing little by little the tracks come out now( SPA anyone) EA has dont the same with Shift 2 and other NFS games as well as past battlefiled games. the only game that ever had a different trend is Burnout paradies. all I am saying is you seem to be just upset at paying if you are dont buy the game there are plenty of shooters out theres. Almost every shooter and game has planed dlc before it comes out you make the choice to buy it or not everytime.
COD always release a decent to large amont of content so we all know the pattern right now.

EA releases day one DLC I thought :dunce:

But what I mean is, I don't like the idea of a lot of DLC, it's not really targeted towards Elite, but IMO it's just a way of saying "Things that should've been in the game, but weren't and you have to pay to get them" and sometimes the DLC is already on the disc, buying it just unlocks it and let's you use it.

I agree I dont like it either. It s just what we gotta deal with and also yes EA does day 1 dlce also as well as ubisoft Rocksteady, Sony ect

We have to be smarter with outr purchases if we dont like the game that much dont buy the dlc and dont get the special editions unless they are absolutly worth it. Heck dont buy the game unless its really worth it.

check this out see if you agree igns 5 reasons MW3 wont disapoint

Also in the article its says this cowboy
Call of Duty Elite
Beta users have already been using the new Call of Duty Elite service for Call of Duty: Black Ops and it's safe to say that it's going to be extremely popular once it's open to the public at the launch of Modern Warfare 3. The service gives players a social community to engage with other players all over the world. Here players are able to check in-depth statistics, post about their conquests, share custom games with friends, create clans and study warfare strategies.Premium members receive added bonuses such as the ability to enter and compete in tournaments for real prizes, and receive analysis and tips from pro players. The core of the Elite experience will be offered as a free service (like Bungie.net), though Premium memberships require an annual fee, which isn't too bad considering that premium members will have full access to the bonuses mentioned above, as well as monthly DLC.

Half of that article is hating on Battlefield 3. Battlefield has worse graphics? How?! And he's saying MW3 is beautiful. Baggy edges? Slow frame rate? Just hatin'.

But I'll give you that.

he isnt hating on it he is just saying it doesnt seem as polished as it is on the cpu (and I have to agree) its the pros and cons to going into a new engine and staying with a old one. example why does batman arkahm city and arkham asylum look so good be cause its on athe unreal engine which has been around for years !

But Battlefield 3 is better graphically and MW3 has the same graphics as MW2 I think. Going to a new engine and moving to a new one doesn't really fit a comparison for me.

But DLC = :yuck:

again you are conjecturing opinion instead of fact you should look at them both back to back MW3 is alot more detailed than black ops or MW2 same engine better graphics. I think you are just finding reasons to hate the game cant you like them both ? I just finished playing BF3 with my brother and its nice but its not smooth alot of hiccups and freezes on the ps3. they are both great games I don't know why though people keep comparing them they are very different experiences.
