I've been looking for video of any testing that has been done during my studies but haven't found anything. I'm really looking forward to see Callaway back on the track. They've done a lot for independent team exposure in the GT class. I wounder if they'll be able to do it again.

Come to fine out that checkered C7 race car that has been photoed is actually a Callaway. Most of the testing of the car has been done buy Callaway in secret even though the car has been seen at the GM main compound. From the information I've gathered it looks like the may be a C7 GT3 race car at SEMA, how many not sure.

Not too surprising since Callaway has been leading the way for Corvettes racing in Europe for some years now with the Z06 platform.

The car in the renderings & above though, look more GT2-esque just based on all the aero bodywork they've done. Most GT3 cars aren't that advanced, & GTE cars are based very closely on actual production models.

I agree with you about the aero package McLaren though with the new series coming in 2014 along with new spec the car must be worked toward the GT Daytona class (GTD) rather than the GT Le Mans class (GTLM)
Maybe Callaway is doing the test for the GTD class and GM will test for the GTLM class. I'm going to see what I can dig up tomorrow after work.

Are the new C7.Rs going to be campaigned by Callaway instead of Pratt and Miller, or will they both be campaigning different C7.Rs in different classes/races? Will both be factory efforts?

There is a strong possibility that Callaway will get factory support though I'm not sure if GM is planning to run a C7R in the GTLM class. The sources I've been speaking with really haven't hinted to that just yet, though I wouldn't count the possibility out. If it does happen GM will be running in the GTLM class, while Callaway runs in the GTD class. We may also see a Camaro in the GTX class.

How is this a return? Callaway Competition GmbH, the branch based in Leingarten Germany, has been building GT3 cars based on Corvette Z06s since 2007. I would expect their new C7s to continue racing in ADAC GT Masters, though perhaps they will start selling cars to the US now that there will be class for GT3 cars in the new top American sports car series.

Probably different. Callaway & Pratt and Miller don't partake in mutual series as Callaway generally represents the Corvette brand in Europe. This has usually also resulted in both companies running different cars.

I would have wagered the merger of ALMS & Grand Am to possibly change that, but I didn't know Pratt & Miller also build the Corvette DPs for Grand Am as well. So, if Callaway does throw their hat in the ring, I don't see the factory supporting them & their own P&M cars.

A US return is what I really looking forward to from Callaway. Watching them race took me to another place, I really enjoyed their race craft during the early years.
