Can NFS Shift fill the void left by GT5 delay? NO, I'll sell it pretty soon. A dev on shift official forum says they won't even fix some essential things with the upcoming patch (too much work they say...poor babies). So why bother?

Wow, it seems Shift is even worse when you get to know it according to some posts here. I tried the demo, seemed OK, but the way they set up the controls, sensitivity, etc, it was impossible to drive with a SixAxis. Now I really want to see what Shift is like when I get to use my wheel with it.

We should be grateful for demos... This game is hilarious. Car physics are weird to say the least. The cars mostly slide and very rarely actually turn. The sounds are heavily exaggerated but I guess most people would enjoy them. However all the blurring, darkening and bouncing effects get annoying after a few minutes.

EA are trying to sell it as the real driving experience. "No comment".

NFS died after Porsche. I think Shift is the final nail in the coffin of this franchise.

GT5P remains the only title out there that can really calm the nerves of expectation for GT5…

There is enough evidence presented in several threads to save you the mistake of wasting your money on NFS Shift. I'm saddened to see the few people making positive statements when all it does is encourage EA to release more unfinished and untested games. And for those naive few who think EA will create a fix or patch to correct the glutteny of glitches, dream on 💡

The one "update" they've done so far has created more glitches that weren't present originally. I've downloaded patches from them for PC games (Nascar SIM) for instance, whereby after the patch, I permanently had 3 pace cars racing in every race after that.

The really puzzling part for me is how some of you report having no issues what so ever, when hundreds have reported a dozen or two well documented bugs and glitches. How can that be ???

On the other hand, DIRT 2 is a terrific game, offering hours of good racing entertainment to help fill the void. I also plan on filling the void with my new PSP3000 "GT Special Edition" when it releases at the end of this month :)

If you like cars on pogo sticks, then NFS Shift is for you!

I had a couple friends that played it a lot for a couple weeks... they dont play it anymore

Dirt 2 seemed ok accoring to the demo, but it made my G25 sound like it was gonna come apart! Cant have that, no Dirt 2 for me.

It's filling my void.

Ran a few GT5P WRS laps earlier today... feels so boring... back on Shift now :D

Hahaha same for me, I almost won't play GT5P until GT5 and Modern Warfare 2 coming out soon, Prologue will collect dust.

I've been loving Shift. I haven't played it in awhile after I completed the story, but there's plenty to do afterwards. Online is okay, every now and then you'll get the types of people that like bumper cars more than racing, but it's not bad, and no lag.

Physics are good, cars do slide a lot though. I haven't experienced any glitches except for the Porsche Carrera bouncing a little, but not as much as people say. No other car I've driven bounces, either... except for my completely modified Works 370Z, which is only a little bit and unnoticeable.

Overall, it will keep me busy when I want to play a racing game until GT5. 'Nough said.

Shift is hands down the best looking racer I've seen. It may be an unfair comparison because I played it on PC, but I don't care. If you release a game on PC as well, I'm going to buy it on PC, pump the settings, and play it the way it's meant to be played. Once you're in a game, in the cockpit, Shift kills everything else. There's no contest.

It's a shame nothing else about the game really lives up to the cockpit experience. The bouncy cars are ridiculous. The points awarded for driving like a moron are ridiculous. The fact you can drive up behind someone in a Murcielago, and they'll slide over the top of your car and fall off behind, is ridiculous. The damage is so weak it may as well not be there. And I can't help hearing a bicycle bell or something ringing every time I brake in the DB9.

And the physics are ridiculous. Every car seems to handle like the Outrun Ferrari, with more lock just giving more oversteer and slowing you down more. I want to play it because the experience in the cockpit is amazing, but the game it's connecting you to underneath just isn't.

oh yeah, there is a glitch. run over the moveable objects (side impact bricks) on the track and you can get on top of it and dino your car!!

We gots GT PSP to fill the void.

💡

Yeah but, you'd be better off replaying GT4.

Thats what i'm doing, and i'm seriously enjoying it. I tuned my Elise 111R earlier, and it drives almost exactly like the tuned 111R in GT5P :D Except for the better traction on the exit to corners... its one of the only cars in GT4 that has that killer oversteer at any amount of throttle, so you need to regulate both the throttle and the steering and keep correcting your slides (it also that that no-throttle oversteer, but its a little overdone i think). The fast S-bend in S1 of Grand Valley caught me out every time whilst doing a few races there earlier :/ (Maybe because it changed from the GT3 version of the circuit which i was playing last week, but meh)

But with all honesty, if you have an Xbox 360, buy Forza 3 to fill the gap. I don't so i won't (i don't even have my own PS3, that takes priority, plus it won't break). But if i did i would definetly buy that game. Its not as good as Turn10 have been claiming it to be, but you can't deny its going to be one awesome racing game.

Im on the PC racers, GTR+mods, if i still had my ps3 id still be on GT5P, and my pc isnt good enough to run GT4 under emulators. or that would be my thing, imagine that playing GT4 witha x360 controller  BLASPHEMY!

I've owned Shift for a couple of weeks, and whilst it's a great game I don't think it'll fill the void until GT5 comes out. I'm getting Forza 3 when it comes out, and that should keep me occupied.

The thing that disappoints me about Shift is no classic American cars.:guilty:

Imagine a works converted 69 Camaro, or 70 Charger?

Well, I agree with most here. This game is a disaster. After playing for several hours.. I want my life back. Forza 3 blows it away.

Damn kids these days dont respect their elders, they push the "new" Chargers and Mustangs and dont pay homage to the fathers.

Shift is a limbo game, not wacky enough for arcades, not serious enough for the Simbos(sim bimbos):ouch:

In short after playing NFS Shift @ work(we got a ps3 in the lunch room) it just made me want for GT5 even more, it's like trying out all these "other" racing games just makes me realize how much im a GT die hard, i cant even have fun playing NFS, so i went in with my arms crossed, but i left daydreaming and just imagining what the real deal will be like.:indiff:

Forget the reviews some are giving it a perfect score, come on now be real, shame tho that reviews actually sell games like this :S

No void filled, instead void got larger.

Likewise, just made me yearn for the release of GT5.

I'll try FM3 in a couple weeks, but will probably be left with the same feeling, hopefully not as bad.
