in theory you could, if you can twin drift, then you should be able to draft while drifting

Yes, the theory is sound... If you are in a "twin drift" where the front vehicle is completely breaking the wind for the rear car, the force would indeed be less on the rear car... However, that's only breaking the force of the wind on the car, you still have to deal with the force of gravity trying to pull you out of your drift... It's really not as usefull in drifting, especially since drifting isn't about speed or lap times...

It isn't about speed, it's about gas mileage!

Indeed... Drafting, especially durring freeway driving, can give you better mileage for your trip...

I always drive underneath 18-wheelers when driving cross-country in my black Honda Civic. It saves on gas, big time.

I have done the same on long trips down to Oregon...

My old car got 24 mpg on the highway going 60 mph. If I was behind an 18-wheeler, I got 50-60 mpg.

That was a nice car. It had a little computer that would tell me my current gas mileage.

I used to do that. Then my fiancee got a piece of retread kicked up at her car by one. She's fine, the car got marked but not badly damaged. So from then on, I just didn't stay behind trucks. Maybe traffic on I95 is different then in the Pacific Northwest. But if I was to stick behind a truck, the trucker's HATE it. And I'm not trying to get brake checked! :dopey:

I have drift-drafted in GT3. Or maybe it's just cause I was taking a better line. I'm not really sure. But there are times when I'm gaining on my opponent while in a drift and I'm not accellerating. OH well, might just be me! :dopey:

Really no use to draft while drifting. The only case where this would even work in gt3 is if you were having a drift battle againts one of your friends. Initial D style.

i suppose its therotically possible but drafting really only has a strong effect at high speeds like for when indycars tow each other around the michigan oval at 230mph!!!! another fact to consider although this doesn't effect drifters so much is when a car picks up a draft entering a corner the downforce on his aero parts is less due to the lack of air pressure actually decreseing the performance of the car like when f1's brake to late and take a funny line through the corner due to understeer and lack of front wing downforce anyway im babbleing

friend and I twin drift, and drafting, or slipstreaming DEFINATELY makes a difference. when Im in his slip stream and where both going sideways, my car will suddenly go abit wider, and I might need to tap off the gas a little bit. Makes it very interesting. also, I drift with the RAZO silvia which has big spoilers, so no wind=no grip!

Draft while drifting? That is a very intresting question. Can you even draft in GT3? I know about NFSU drafting helps alot, but I dont do much of racing in GT3. Only when I need or want to unlock a car, but I never gave it thought. Can drafting be done in GT3 at all?

No he was saying that in NASCAR Drafting go together like a cake. You can't have someting with out the other. I'm sure that the only drifting your going to see in NASCAR is spining out in the dirt.

i know but indy car is still bloody close racing so stop splitting hairs ( have a look at the margin betwwen bourdais and junquiera at las vegas and i know this champ car not indy car :yuck:

Yes, you can draft in GT3. It's really noticeable on the test course; your speed drastically increases and you can hear a change in the air sound.

Try it out. :)

You can draft while drifting however it is not efficiend because the "pocket" you want to be in is far too small to stay in for most. It will let you move tward the inside or outside of the turn better if you are in close enough.

drafting while drifting...there's really no use when doing this in my opinion. For one when people are drifting its not really who's fastest, but you are rated on more then I can passes you so I'm better. Its about Style, technique, and whole bunch of other things.
