Renault were certainly strong in Sat Prac 1: Alonso, Fisi, Kimi, Sato, Button.

BAR also look strong.

Kimi put in a last second effort to take p1 during sat prac 2 :)

Kimi
Alonso
Montoya
Fisichella
Sato

And what about Sato? Hmm?

Just like I said, it's Fisichella's time to shine. Damn, I'm good. ;)

Well Sato is going to crash in the race so no need to comment there!

My italian roots acknowledge with you on Fisichella:P

Anyone knows what happened to Rubens? I just saw some smoke coming out of his car, then he went to the pits. :indiff:

Lost somthing in the left bank. Also does nebody know if it is acutally feasable for Jenson button to make the 50-75% of leaders points for the BAR contract to stay. There is only 2 races left till half way and he contract says at half the season he is supposed to have 50-75 of the leaders points or he becomes a willams driver. Who do u think would take the BAR seat in his place if they don't make it?

I just can't get into this GP, I never have. I don't care for the Montreal circuit and we are entering the part of the season where I get bored (mostly due to the string of boring circuits post Indy). It isn't until the fall (Monza) where I get really interested again. I'm not even going to watch the race tomorrow, well not live (plan my day around it). I'll tape it and skim through it tomorrow night.

The fact Jenson is on the pole takes what little interest I had almost completely out.

Eitherway....

BAR is running light...they HAVE to be running light on fuel. Unless they have made a large jump in car performance, which I find unlikely. JB has Alonso behind, I expect Alonso to rocket past JB on the start. If that doesn't happen then by the first pit stops JB will be out of it. I think JB could finish in the points but I can't see him winning.

I was hoping (expecting)Toyota would do better...I hoping Trulli is just heavy on fuel and will work his way up....

My prediction...

Alonso
MS
Kimi

I'm looking forward to the USGP and my wife and I will be heading there Wednesday. If you see a blonde guy in a Toyota Trulli hat (there can't be many Trulli fans) around turn one that would be me....

rock on!

rubens had tranny problems

and the situation dont look too good for kimi with michael and button and alonso up there in the top 3. Lets just hope kimi can pull this one off.

GO KIMI 👍 :sly:

and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is the only F1 track taht i've been to and driven on.

Actually, MS had the transmission problems and got a new one. Barrichello had a left side piston go down while he was on his warmup lap. Well, that's what they said during the live broadcast here in the states.

Well BAR have a new aero package this weekend and that's probably a large part of that pole, though I think Button is still pretty light.

Williams is just meh, Nicks lap was horrible. They'd better be heavy.

I see Kimi pitting late and using his time in free air to do a Michael Schumacher like Imola middle stint.

I think MS has a very good chance to win, he won't be caught up in traffic and unless something goes wrong he'll have the pace most of the race.

Prediction...

Alonso
MS
Kimi
Fisi
Button
Montoya
Sato
Villeneuve

BAR won't get on the podium today (tonight)s. Jenson will probably pit on lap three or so and then everyone will charge forward while he sits back fat on fuel. I really hope there will be a MS v Kimi battle somewhere along the line as that will be great, especially if Kimi ends up on top, Fernando will probably win, that renault is faster than the red car and the BAR. Damn i got to wait until 2.15am or something for this race, now I know what it is like for all you Yanks!

After the quali I know MS will have a good chance geting this GP and thou Kimi's way behind on the grid I think he'll very likely be on the podium.
I dont want FA on the podium and it's quite possible too.

This circuit is kind of strange to watch an F1 race on. I don't know exactly what it is but the F1 cars look like they don't belong there. The curbs are to high, there's too many bumps. The road surface is more suitable for GT cars.

That aside. I think Kimi is doing 1 stop. I don't think that his strategy will work out well but who knows. The first 2 corners will be very crucial. It's very tight there.

Well I think the new surface has taken away alot of the bumps.

I don't know about the 1 stop by Kimi, but his first stint is definatly long. And I don't think all the cars will make it through the first lap, there first section is tight and there are alot of impatient drivers at the front of the field.

Agreed; at best, probably a few drivers will be shuffled backwards a few postions at the first bend. But, I'd expect to see at least a minor collision. I'll expect Button to lead the field into the first bend, given his light fuel load and the superior power of the Honda engine. MSC will hold up Alonso and Fisi off the line, since neither will have enough room to pass in the first bend. And as for the rest of the field, it's going to be pretty random.

That being said, this entire race is going to be very unpredictable, given the stress put on the cars, and especially the brakes. Expect to see numerous retirements due to mechanical issues.

I hope Button does well but I fear for his lack of straight line speed they mentioned in the press conference. They were 12kmh down on one of the straights. Plus he's clearly light as anything. Renault 1-2 into the first corner?

Anyone tell me what Coulthard said at the start of the build up that made Jim & Tony laugh, please?

Something about the pitlane speed limiter...

Woo-Hoo! What a start! Shine on Fisi!

The best start in a long time. Pretty clean too. This race is going to be better than I thought.

I can't stand derek daly any longer. He is a complete moron who botches up so many names, and so much info.

Montoya is doing fantastic and is making me a little nervous. Fisi is on fire. They actually told him to increase is lap time by one half a second no doubt because of Montoya is running so strong.

Button was running light, which is not a surprise. So was MS. Both have a three pit strategy. I don't think it's going to work.

Great race so far. 👍

yeah, i saw that too. this race is getting pretty intense. derek daly is still a moron. he just said the black camera structures were the no.1 cars. ugh.

but did i hear them say JPM is gonna appear on Lettterman? i'll be watching that show.

Fisi retired? What the hell happened?

Odd, on TV Fisi is still in first?

Crap! Now Alonso is out! They're were loosing hydraulic pressure? Damn!
