i cant get my supra to hook up...ive tried everything...but i dont wanna wear down the tires too quickly...how do i keep from spinning so bad...im spinning all the way up to 151mph...it has 849 hp but feels like 200...

Have you tried less throttle? If you "floor it" you get wheel spin. What happens when you only give it half throttle? Yes, it's an obvious answer but it had to be asked.

Have you thought of dropping some power off it? If it feels like 200 when you've got 800+ what happens when you drop to 400? Does is feel like 400?

So perhaps my answer is if you want it too hook up, reduce the power and control the throttle better.

You could always try reducing the stage of your turbo aswell, that should help.

Although as Der Alta said, build your revs up gradually so the car can get some traction on the road.

I'm finding that I'm using TCS a lot more than I ever did in GT3, and at higher settings, as well. For now, the threshold seems to be, at least in my experience, around 350 hp (gotta have at least TCS at 1 or 2) to prevent wheelspin on exiting a turn under acceleration. For the really high powered beasts, I've set it as high as 7 to maintain good "forward bite".

I'm still not using TCS for Arcade cars, though.

Probably attributable to the more accurate tire/grip modeling.

Start the car in 2nd when your on the grid with half throttle, of it works fine then drop the 1st next time round with a bit less throttle and just be gradual. THe game works the same way it does in real life, bury the throttle in a big powerful car and your only gonna get wheel spin.

What event are you running it in? If it requires Sport tires, buy a set of softs.

If you haven't added a wing, get one and max the downforce.

Try a TCS setting of 5 to 7.

I'm having problems in 2player battle. The cars that run good in gran turismo mode like the renault 5 turbo, is uncontrolable in 2p memory card battles. can I turn the driving aids on in there?

Lone Ranger,
first of all, why do you need 849hp in a Supra?
No wonder you can't get any traction.
If you use the TCS then your HP at any instant is limited by the system when your tires break loose. So either use TCS or less power, and try different rear tires.
For instance, Castrol TOM's Supra has a 2.0L rally engine with 485hp and it is plenty fast enough.
Improve your driving skill and use less HP, and you can lap faster.

Like I tell all my friends that try to blast through in super powerful cars :
"Slow down 10%, and you will go faster."

Sounds weird, but it's true.

Did anyone mention wider gear ratios and LSD tuning?

I know you guys mentioned throttle control which is really important with big horspower cars.

I cant bring my self to use more than level1 tcs. and thats only with FF cars tunedover 260hp using n2 tires :)

Did anyone mention wider gear ratios and LSD tuning?

Gear ratios can turn a bear into a beast. The bear being difficult to drive, the beast being fast around the tra... oh nevermind.

Tune the gear ratios, that will soften up the car. Starting in second will help off the line as previously mentioned. Driving a gear high will also help with controlling wheelspin.

You could just tap, tap, tap, tap - hold the gas. That allows you to build speed and control the slides.

Tuning the gears is a lot of fun.

Try to learn to tame the car before adjusting your settings. Overall, you'll have better times and control if you do it this way. Settings CAN make up for where you lack (not a personal attack to you), but you're better off learning your car. In GT4 if you break traction and spin your tires, you'll be spinning them for awhile. Combine that with the high horsepower and you're asking for trouble.

Start easy. Learn how to half throttle. That way you'll have three positions instead of 2 (zero, half, full). If you're spinning tire, release the throttle a bit back to half. I imagine if you're having issues in a straight line, you'll be having issues in turns as well. When you hit the apex you can use half throttle until it straighten outs a bit more and then go for full.

Once you learn half throttle throw in a few more positions. 1/2 and 3/4 throttle. You'll begining to notice you can use the throttle sooner (but gradually) and get faster times and cornering speeds! Don't think this is just for analog users and DFP. I use the d-pad and X, it just takes a bit to teach your thumb to pressure buttons instead of mashing them. GL!

If you are really having probleme with throttle I suggest you try a really short track like the ones you play in the lighweight cup !
I only have the CIEN as I'm only starting the game but I amde a few laps in those training-beginner tracks where you never put more than the 2nd or 3rd gear
and I think it helped me a lot with the throttle but still the CIEn is unrealistic so I think I'll have more problems with existing cars like you Supra....

well best of luck to you ;)

The supra in this game is a killer i have a 827hp supra. This car has always had its traction issues in past GT's and it does again. Take a 150 horses off it get some race tires traction at 4 and full downforce on your aeros and a very long gear ration and this car will kill. Just add nos for that extra little boost to compensate for the long gear ratio.
